He’s not looking for anything serious…

When his older brother asks him to move back to Whiskey River to help run the family ranch, former Marine Grant McAllister feels obligated to agree. After spending two years recovering from battle injuries, coming home finally feels right. Relishing being back on the land, Grant decides to refurbish the family’s old hunting cabin as his new home. When the artisan designer he hires turns out to be a beautiful, intriguing woman, he hopes to mix business with a little pleasure.

She needs to remain uninvolved…

After the death of her Marine husband, a pregnant Abby Rogers moved to Whiskey River to be closer to her husband’s family and escape her controlling mother. Reinventing herself as a designer, she now focuses on her business and mothering her young daughter. She has no time for relationships—no matter how tempting she finds her handsome new client. But when her wealthy mother threatens to sue for custody of her daughter, Grant’s shocking offer forces her to listen to her heart.

My 📝Review📝: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This book was even better than the previous McAllister brother’s book; Ex-military hero and a widowed heroine with an adorable daughter. From the moment these two are on the pages together, you can feel more than just chemistry. There is a strong pull and while Grant would love nothing more than to explore that attraction, Abby isn’t looking for a relationship. Abby has enough on her plate with running her small business and raising her adorable daughter. In addition, Abby is fearful of falling in love again. As you can expect, Abby keeps Grant at a good distance and yet she can’t help getting to know him. The way he is with Abby’s young daughter is only another thing to like about Grant. Abby knows her heart is fighting a losing battle.

This book is well written with a steady flow. There are emotional moments and a bit of angst along with a slow burn romance. I didn’t mind the time it took for Grant and Abby to become a couple. The author did a great job at building the friendship first. I also loved the Texas country and secondary characters that gave me even more enjoyment. While I will admit, Grant and Abby had some emotional obstacles to get over, I appreciated the slower pace.

I absolutely love when an author not only immerses me in the story, but puts me there as well. This author painted the perfect scenes, wrote engaging monologue as well as dialogue and all around gave me a five star novel.

While I was provided an advanced reading copy of The Cowboy, this is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Can the handsome loner win the heart of the single mom? He’s about to find out on their Vegas road trip.

Single mom Skylar James is absolutely not interested in the broody, inked artist who works in her brother’s motorcycle repair shop. She’s focused on her four-year-old son and her thriving business as an image consultant. But when he asks her to work her magic on his widowed mom, how can she say no? She’s in—even if it means a road trip with the man who can’t take a hint.

When Jinx Costello rolled into Calamity, Wyoming, he met the woman who owned him heart and soul. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been able to convince her about their destiny. She won’t even go on a date with him. But when he sees her in action with a client, he puts his own needs aside to ask for help with his mom.

Away from her family and business, Skylar finally lets down her guard and realizes why she’s been fighting Jinx so hard: she’s wildly attracted to him. Which makes it hard to uphold her vow not to date while her son’s little.

Jinx can’t believe the woman of his dreams is finally giving him a chance. But is she just letting loose on a Vegas road trip?
Because this is it for him. She’s it.

And now he just has to prove it to her.

Come Away With Me (Calamity Falls)Come Away With Me by Erika Kelly

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Loved this short story with all the feels.
When an author can pack intensity, complexity, as well as all the feels into a short story, you know you’re going to love it. Right from the first pages I was hooked. When this story was over, I was immediately disappointed. I wanted more. Jinx won my adoration the first time he appeared on the pages. By the end of the book, I could not stop my ready-to-burst heart. Jinx is the epitome of a perfect hero. Sadly, I will not say too much. This book is only one hundred pages, steadily paced and easy to devour in one short sitting. However, I will tell you that both Skylar and Jinx have emotional pasts. And despite those pasts, they were amazing, selfless, people with big hearts and so much love for others. A truly wonderful couple.

Skylar and Jinx had so much chemistry. Their connection was beautiful AND believable. That said, Skylar was not easy to like at first; her past experiences make her cautious and not able to trust easily. But I quickly grew to adore her as well. As a matter of fact, I adored all the characters in this book. I haven’t read anything else by this author with the exception of a short in a holiday anthology. After I finished this book, I stalked her profile here on GR. There are so many books that look good and I am looking forward to reading more. I truly recommend this beautiful little gem. It will warm your heart and leave you smiling, wanting more.

This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
