Synopsis:

Janie Adams has been a single parent to her nephew since he was a baby. Fifteen years later, she’s finally found out who his father might be, so the two of them travel across the country to find him. She’d do anything for this kid. But when they arrive in the small town of Wishing River, Montana, and Janie finally meets the ruggedly handsome cowboy she’d been told had abandoned his son, his shocked response changes everything.

Aiden Rivers can’t dispute this is his kid when he sees his own features staring back at him, but he had no idea Janie’s sister was pregnant when she left him. He didn’t even know she had a sister—clearly they’d all been lied to. Now he has fifteen years of fatherhood to make up for and no idea how to be a dad. This was never in his plans.

Janie sticks around to help him ease into parenting, everything from showing him how to lure a sulky kid out of his bedroom to keeping up with the latest teen-speak. Together, they surprisingly make a good team, this city girl and country boy. But when the past catches up with them, Aiden and Janie must decide what’s best for the boy who’s connecting them, not only for each other…which could mean splitting them apart.

My 📝Review📝: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

What a perfect book! All the feels!
Wishing for a Cowboy is the third book in the Wishing River series by Victoria James. I have not yet read the two previous but am definitely looking forward to it. From the first pages I was engaged and distraught each time life got in the way causing me to put the book down. I was fully immersed in the storyline and could not wait to see how things turned out for Will, Janie & Aiden. I felt there was a lot of real-life issues that the author did a fabulous job with writing into the story. Often we read stories with similar premises and predictably know how it will turn out. While I had made my inferences, there were a few emotional surprises along the way. This book had a lot of different feels. From Will and Aiden understandably and Janie as well. All three of these characters had so much taken away from them.

Janie comes to Montana with her nephew Will in hopes to gain financial help from WIll’s father. Once she arrives and states her reason for being there, the book understandably takes on a serious tone. My thoughts? I was angry from the injustices that Janie’s sister brought to them all and took no responsibility for. I won’t go into any details but I will say that the author did a great job with realistically putting these three hearts back together.

If you are looking for an emotional story, set in the backdrop of Montana that is well written and engaging, I highly recommend Wishing for a Cowboy by Victoria James.

While I received a review copy from NetGalley, this is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

He’s barely given her a passing glance…

Shandi Flanagan has lived in Paxton Springs, Texas, her whole life. When the bar and grill she’s been working at since high school comes up for sale, she vows to find the money to buy it. But when her house goes up in flames, so do her entrepreneurial dreams. The only good thing to come of it? Being rescued by the hottest cowboy around, Jace Paxton.

Jace has his hands full finding a way to grow his family’s vacation resort and tracking down the rustlers who stole his new herd of calves. At least being able to save Shandi, the town’s favorite sweetheart, goes right. She needs a place to stay, and there’s plenty of room on the Blackstone Ranch.

But he needs the bar and grill as much as she does. And while he’s a formidable competitor…she’s not. How can he take away her dream and future? How could she love him if he did?

My 📝Review📝: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This book has everything! I knew this would be a five star read from the first chapter. There are a lot of secondary characters; some from previous books in this series. My Kind of Cowboy has angst (not too much, though), suspense/mystery, drama, and romance. And guess what? The romance aspect was a slow burn so the anticipation of that made this book not only better, but realistic and believable. Having both Jace and Shandi’s POVs made this book even more enjoyable. There is nothing that frustrates me more or stalls my reading flow than when I have to guess at what the characters are feeling. So, having both POV’s is a top preference for me.

This book is the third in the series featuring the Paxton brothers. I did not read the previous two (yet) and had no trouble at all following along. This book can definitely be read as a stand-alone. However, I became very curious about how two of the brothers met their future Mrs. Paxtons. As soon as I can, I will be reading those books.

Shandi is the town sweetheart. She truly fit that persona; always putting others before herself even when she had to work two exhausting jobs to pay bills and the pay off the debts her deceased father left behind. When Shandi sees an oppotunity to make her dreams come true, she jumps at it. Despite the fact she has little to no assets, Shandi doesn’t give up. Not even when the crush of her life gets in the way.

Jace has known Shandi nearly all his life but recently has seen her in a different light. He wants to know her better, wants to protect her and take away her troubles. Even if it seems he is one of them.

The romance blossoming between Jace and Shandi is slow. But don’t worry because there are others things taking place in the story that will have your full attention. Rustlers, arsonists, drug addicts, are all part of the mystery and intrigue of this book. I will say no more in the way of details.

The ending was perfect. The epilogue even better. Overall, My Kind of Cowboy is a memorable, and engaging story with all the feels, and I highly recommend it as a must-read.

This was actually my first book by this author. She has just gained a new fan. I cannot wait to read more of her books!

This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Cover: 4

Add to TBR: The Rancher

Synopsis:

When he sets out to regain his family’s heritage, he never expects to fall in love.

Cowboy Duncan McAllister has worked tirelessly to make the family ranch profitable enough to buy back the section of land hard times forced them to sell a decade ago. When the owner of that land unexpectedly dies, leaving the ranch to his city-based daughter, Duncan finally sees his opportunity.

After her business partner boyfriend runs off with an intern—and all their clients—CPA Harrison Scott retreats to her Daddy’s Hill Country ranch to decide her next move. Her father’s sudden death leaves her floundering—does she rebuild her professional career or carry on the ranch he loved? After rebuffing Duncan’s offer to buy her out, Harrison is forced to turn to her handsome neighbor to learn the ropes of ranching.

Duncan tells himself he’s just being neighborly, but their immediate attraction soon deepens. How can he convince her that he wants her even more than his beloved land when she’s already been betrayed once before?

My Review: 🌟🌟🌟🌟

One of my favorite aspects about cowboy romance is the picturesque scenes the author paints in my mind. Living in the suburbs, close to everything, I more than appreciate the beauty of the landscapes in places such as the Hill Country in Texas where this story takes place. I love the idea of owning land that has been in the family for hundreds of years. Where I live, that isn’t the norm. That said, I find myself longing for some of the places I read about. And The Rancher did an incredible job of bringing me there.

This story is about the love of the land, legacy and loyalty. It is a story of two people who will have to learn to trust again in their decisions and each other if they want a truly happy and fulfilled life. This book is about carrying on a legacy.

Duncan McAllister grew up on land such as I described. Having lost his mother at a very young age, and then his father while barely in his teens, Duncan takes on the responsibility of running the ranch. Through financially tough times, Duncan’s stepmother had to sell off some of the generations-old McAllister land. Growing up, Duncan’s only goal was to buy the land back but unfortunately the gentleman who bought it loves it just a deeply and refuses to sell. And when he dies unexpectedly, the land is left to his daughter Harrison.

Harrison is devastated at what life has thrown at her recently. Her heart is overflowing with sadness. Because of recent events, Harrison is no longer a trusting person. Despite her inexperience, Harrison is determined to carry on the legacy her father has left for her. It is not going to be easy and she knows that. She also knows that there are people who want to buy the ranch property from her and she worries what they’ll do to make that happen.

I’ll tell you that the relationship between Duncan and Harrison builds steadily, but slowly due to Harrison’s as well as Duncan’s trust issues. Although I felt Duncan was sincere, there were more than a few times I became frustrated on his behalf because of Harrison’s behavior. I felt she gave off too many mixed signals. In the end, both Harrison and Duncan became the couple I knew they would be. Their love for each other was believable and they each put the other’s concerns before their own. Both seeming to make sacrifices for the other but in the end both gaining everything they dreamed of.

The Rancher is book one in The McAllister Brothers series in which I was given an advanced reading copy. This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

When the woman of his dreams walks through his door, it seems too good to be true…

With two failed relationships behind her, Chantel Chandler wants to keep things light. She’s recently back in Whiskey River, Texas, and is determined to pick up the pieces of her life. But her casual friendship with Gabe quickly combusts into an intensely hot affair with an unexpected surprise…a pregnancy.

Chantel would love to be a mom, but she needs to be loved for herself first. Gabe says he’s all in, but how can she trust again when she’s been let down so many times?

My Review: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Oh, this book was so good!
I felt like I had been waiting forever for Gabe’s story. Considering this is the first book in the Texas True series you are probably wondering why. I have always been a huge fan of Tule Publishing. I absolutely love how their Texas and Montana Born series’ interconnect lightly with characters from previous books. Not to mention, they can all be read as stand alone romances. Tule Publishing is the home of many talented authors and I always stalk their website to see whats coming.

That said…..I have previously been introduced to Gabe throughout a few books in the Texas Born world and I always wondered and hoped that he would one day have his own story told. Eve Gaddy did an incredible job bringing romance to Gabe. I couldn’t have been happier that Gabe and Chantel made a life with each other.

Gabe and Chantel…..
These two have known each other since high school. During those younger years, Gabe had a huge crush on Chantel but she was dating his best friend at the time. Gabe being Gabe, he never made a move. He was more than disappointed his friend got to her first. While Chantel was with Gabe’s friend, she believed Gabe didn’t like her because he was always frowning at her. Of course he was. His friend was dating the girl of his dreams.

While they respectively went their separate ways after high school, both ended up back in their hometown of Whiskey River. But it is a couple of years before they have their chance. I don’t want to spoil any of this story for you. I loved it so much. So much in fact the bar is set very high to impress me with the coming books in this series. Gabe was the whole package. First and foremost, a gentleman. I haven’t claimed a book boyfriend in a long time since so many books I’ve read in the past year have had cookie cutter heroes. That is not a bad thing, just saying that Gabe was the first in a while that pushed ALL my buttons.

Texas Forged is a wonderful story of taking chances, romance, healing and love. There are some emotional elements that broke my heart; some angst and drama as well. Watching Gabe and Chantel profess their love was believable and heartwarming. I absolutely recommend this book! Actually, I highly recommend it.

This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Synopsis:

Mr. Impulsive.

Rodeo bull rider Shane Nichols will do anything for a friend. So when his pal Cash’s girl is about to marry the wrong man, Shane does what needs to be done: he kidnaps the bride!

Poppy Hamilton isn’t expecting to be slung over some gorgeous cowboy’s shoulder and spirited off to a remote mountain cabin in the middle of a blinding Montana snowstorm—even if it’s only until the wedding is over. Poppy still thinks that’s a bit extreme, but she has her own reason for missing the wedding. Besides, she’s the florist, not the bride!

So much for good deeds! What’s Shane supposed to do now—snowbound with a woman who makes all his hormones sit up and take notice, who isn’t anybody’s fiancée, and who is dangerously close to stealing his heart?

My 📝Review📝: 🌟🌟🌟🌟

I found this second book of this series to be a sweet, enjoyable read. I won’t lie though, I did think at the beginning that Shane wasn’t a very intelligent character. His thoughts and actions brought me to that realization. However, once I got to experience parts of the book through his perspective, I realized that Shane was just a simple man with simple needs. He wasn’t looking for love or commitment during this time in his life. In addition, Shane was thoughtful and considerate of others as well as being a loyal friend. I believed he was a goodhearted hero. Shane was the type of character I’d love to know in real life.

Poppy had her own frustrations and vulnerabilities. While Poppy loved her father, he could be more than a bit intimidating. Poppy’s dad, while not often on the pages was a big part of the story. I won’t say why but as you read, you will no doubt, be aware of his interfering and influences.

As you will see from the blurb, Poppy and Shane meet when he mistakenly believes her to be someone else. Poppy could have stopped him by saying he had the wrong girl. However, she has her reasons why she didn’t.

This book is a safe read. There is not a lot of angst, if any. And even though the story is predictable sometimes, I enjoyed it. The Cowboy Steals a Lady was lighthearted and fun to read. I liked it better than the first book in this series. Of course, I’ll be looking out for Cash’s book next.

If you are looking for a short, sweet story to lighten your day, I recommend The Cowboy Steals a Lady. This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

My 📝Review📝:
5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I have to tell you I discovered this author over the last twelve months. A book from her Aspen Cove series had been waiting on my TBR for me to read, and one day I decided to read something from that never ending list. Well, I was so happy after I read it. In fact, it led me to purchase several more of Kelly’s books. When I came across this book while browsing NetGalley, I knew I had to read it. A Tablespoon of Temptation was amazing. For a lack of a better adjective at the moment, I was impressed. This book had everything I look for in a romance. Character development is important. While this book doesn’t have a broad timeline, I felt the characters developed nicely. Both James and Danielle were burned by romance before. And while they each did not swear off love, they certainly weren’t seeking it out. Regardless, love found them anyway. Thanks to a wonderful cast of secondary characters, I was doubly immersed in the story. Engaged is an understatement. I loved this book!

The blurb does a good job in giving you a look into what the premise of the story it so I’m not going to ruin your reading experience by giving spoilers. I can tell you that from the first chapters, I knew this was going to be a five star read for me. There were quite a few elements involved in making this more than just a love story. There are secrets, humor, some angst and even a bit of whimsy.
And the end tied up perfectly, everyone getting what they deserve 😉

I definitely recommend this book to all lovers of romance and a feel good story with some complexity and a lot of heart! In fact, I recommend you add this author to your TBR. You won’t be disappointed.

This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Synopsis:

Dallas:
He’s the one that got away. But, Banks Weston is more than just the man who got away. I let him go. He’d been ready to share with the world his true self, living life openly. He’s loud and proud. It’s all the many things I’m not. It took me a while, but I did it—everyone knows I’m gay. I want him back. My betrayal broke his heart. No—I obliterated it. But somehow, our paths cross again, and we have a reason to come together and pretend we’re something we’re not. Though in my heart, I’ll always hope for the second chance I don’t deserve.

Banks:
I both hate him and love him all at the same time. His arrogant smirk, the way he rakes his hands through his hair when he’s nervous, and how he lightens any situation with his humor—are just a few things I miss about Dallas Phillips. I won’t let him suck me in again by his charming nature. My guard is up. I’m standing firm. That is until we find a reason to be together. We’ll have to fake it, showing the whole world that we’re a couple. Then again, it won’t be hard because my heart has never stopped loving him.

My 📝Review📝:

4.5 Stars
Incredibly written, heartfelt story of love, loyalty, and forgiveness. Although, to my frustration, the forgiveness didn’t come for a long time.

My Only Regret by Leigh Lennon is my first book by her. While there were a couple of aspects of this book that frustrated me, this author’s writing talent had me engaged from the very first pages and I hated that I had to put this book down several times due to the domestic responsibilities in my life. Otherwise, I could have easily devoured this book in one sitting. If I could only give you only one bit of advice, it would be to find a quiet place where you could read uninterrupted. This book was really engaging.

From the blurb, you know that Dallas left Banks. And that is all I can say because that situation is very complicated. Was I angry with Dallas for his behavior? Oh, yes, definitely because there were other ways to handle the situation. Unfortunately, Dallas made a very poor choice and paid the price. He paid that price throughout most of the book, too, which did not make me happy. I thought that bit of the story was overdone and monotonous; I came to that conclusion by the last chapters.

Banks was destroyed after Dallas left him. And I was team Banks for the first part of the book. However, I felt Banks took stubbornness to a whole new level. I also felt he was selfish at times, too. By then I was team Dallas. Again, I won’t give you details but other than these two small issues I had with the story, My Only Regret was a great book.

This book touches on more than one topic. Aside from supporting the LGBTQ+ community, Dallas and Banks are helping two children. These two children and their state in life broke Dallas and Banks’ hearts as well as mine. And here is where the story becomes even more complex and intense. This book was so much more than a romance. In addition to angst, there are serious elements and a dangerous situation that will keep you turning pages.

I’m truly sorry if my review is vague but I don’t want to spoil any of this incredible story for you. I am very happy to have discovered this author. I am planning to go back and read book one in this interconnected series and am looking forward to book three as well. My Only Regret is one of my favorite reads of 2021 thus far. Definitely in my top five despite my minor complaints.

This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

My 📝Review📝:

4 Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟
When I Think of You takes place during the 1980’s. Oh boy, was I brought back in time. The 80’s was the best of times for me. I was still finding myself, hanging out at clubs, going to movies, and experiencing my first tastes of alcohol. Don’t get me started on the music. My favorite possession was my Sony Walkman! To this day, I listen to 80’s music almost daily. While this book cannot be described as 80’s overkill; the references were done moderately as not to take away the focus of the story. But truthfully, I wouldn’t have minded if there was overkill, lol.

The 80’s Baby Series will start releasing by the various authors next week. I am so excited to read more!

Mandi and Noah
Both main characters are 24/25 years old and come from the small town of Pine Grove, Louisiana. Noah left to go to college in Boston. Other than visiting his parents now and then, Noah has no desire to make Pine Grove his permanent home. Not only is the small town a bit stifled, the economy is poor. In less you want to make a career as a mall employee, the younger generation wants out. Noah was planning an internship for the summer but his father called him home to spend the time in Pine Grove. Noah’s mother is sick so he doesn’t hesitate to come home to see her and help out where he can. I loved Noah. He was a great hero. So sweet and attentive and patient. He took one look at Mandi and his whole outlook on life changed. She became the focus of his future.

Mandi was a sweetheart. She was fun and loyal. During a break from school, she takes a job for the Summer in the Pine Grove movie theatre located in the mall. It wasn’t how she wanted to spend her Summer but Mandi viewed her job as a means to an end. She wanted to go to film school in Baton Rouge and make her screenplays into successful movies.

Mandi and Noah’s attraction was instant. The chemistry between them was so intense. However, despite the fact their relationship started off with a conflict, they took things slow. The slow burn was perfect. Truthfully, in short stories, there is only so many words you can write when you’re given a limit to length. And I thought the author did a nice job incorporating emotions, plot, and conflict, culminating in a satisfying epilogue. This book was very short but had all it needed to be enjoyable. There is even an option to read a bonus chapter at the end of the book.

This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

My 📝Review📝: 3.75 Stars

3.75 stars.
I really enjoy Romantic Suspense, especially when it involves cowboys and small towns. After reading book one in this series, I knew I’d read the next book.

Sallie and Jacob
The H/h have an over-the-top amount of chemistry; with just one look at each other, I knew things were going to get hot. Having both perspectives made the book incredibly erotic. As with the first book in the series, I felt there was way too many pages of intimacy. These too were so intense that they couldn’t be in the same room with each other without touching, kissing, etc. I enjoy intimacy between the H/h because it helps to show me their true feelings. However, this book had pages and pages and pages of it and I found myself skimming to get past it all. In my opinion that unfortunately took away from the story. My biggest intrigue was the suspense/mystery aspect and I felt there were too many cracks in the story despite how exciting parts of the book were. I had many questions by the end where I assumed everything would have been wrapped up nicely. Instead, I did not have closure on a few things. Like, why did John do what he did to Sallie and lie to Jacob in the hospital? How did Rance end up at that last conflict when did? Although the book ended in a happily-ever-after, I expected an epilogue to tie everything together and give me answers to questions I still had. I was disappointed with no epilogue.

I also had some of the same issues after reading the first book in the series; questions that needed answers. Even though I felt let down with a few things, I overall enjoyed the book. The talents of the authors are amazing and they definitely know how to give you all the angsty, emotional feels using a broad imagination. Truthfully, it was the suspense/mystery aspect of the book I enjoyed the most.

This second book in the series is a standalone and you don’t have to read book one prior.

I just want to say something else. I recently learned that Veronica Chadwick recently passed away. My heart goes out to her family and close friends. I am sure she will be missed and it saddens me that we won’t have more stories from her. She will be missed.

This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
