The Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge

Synopsis: A Merry Texan Christmas

This former all-star never knew Christmas could be so competitive.

Former baseball star Trey Prentice is happily adjusting to life as a bookstore owner in his hometown of Sweet Ridge, Texas. While he loved his competitive and elite lifestyle in New York, he craved a quiet life with friends and family more. As Christmas approaches, Trey is excited to decorate his newest venture and participate in the town’s holiday traditions. He never expected to find himself battling Sweet Ridge’s very own Miss Christmas. Game on.

The only thing librarian Maggie Watson loves more than books is Christmas. She’s even earned the nickname of Miss Christmas because she decorates shop windows and spreads Christmas cheer around town. But this year she’s got some competition. No way is she going to let the cocky Trey Prentice take away her Christmas crown, even though he makes her heart flutter.

When their verbal sparring turns to flirting, Maggie finds there’s more to life than books and Christmas. But will her past insecurities steal her newfound happiness?

My 📝Review📝: 4 Stars. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

A Merry Texan Christmas by Nicole Flockton

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was a fun read. A whimsical treat sure to attract readers who love sweet romance with a Christmas theme. Maggie and Trey had so much in common, yet they were so different at the same time. One thing they both loved though, was Christmas. Maggie is so over-the-top obsessed with Christmas that she is known by her small town as ‘Miss Christmas’. This is a title Maggie takes very seriously. She prides herself on being the best at decorating and she loves to dress up all the store windows in town. Her Christmas displays are known as the best and everyone looks forward to them. But when Trey Prentice, former professional baseball player, returns home and purchases a local book store, Maggie finds she has competition.

Trey is not aware of Maggie and her ‘Miss Christmas’ alter ego. So, when he decorates his store window for Christmas, Maggie is upset, and a bit jealous. The town is amazed by Trey’s display and comments are made to Maggie that maybe she has competition now. You can guess that Maggie and Trey don’t hit it off right away. Truthfully, Trey is not a bad guy. He is not trying to one-up Maggie. He simply decorated his store window. Maggie admits that Trey’s window display was amazing but she was not happy about it.

So, Trey and Maggie are off to a rocky start. But Trey doesn’t let Maggie and her bad attitude about him continue for long. As he finds himself trying to be her friend, he is able to cause Maggie to drop her guard and trust him a little more each day.

Without giving details, I’ll tell you that is was so much fun to watch these two grow as a couple. The pace of their relationship is slow which makes it more realistic. There is a bit of angst as well when Trey is offered a mentor job in the NBL. What will happen to his growing relationship with Maggie if he takes the job? You’ll just have to read it and find out.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Reading this book kept me smiling throughout. A Merry Texan Christmas is the third book in the Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge series. I am looking forward to reading about Trey’s brothers in the previous books.

This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Noel, Alabama: An Alabama Christmas Romance by Susan Sands

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was really an enjoyable book. All the elements of Christmas in a small-town atmosphere with a bit of angst and a wonderful cast of characters. I have not read any of the previous books in the Alabama series as of yet but after reading this one, I definitely am looking forward to it. One of my favorite aspects of romance novels are the small-town tropes. Add Christmas and a bit of whimsy and I’m very happy. In addition to reading and loving this book, I am happy to say that I have found a new author that I like. I can’t wait to read more of this series.

Bailey and Seth…..
Why is it that one half of a couple is always eager to run away from their hometown? And in doing that, inevitably breaking the heart of their soulmate. I just don’t get it. So many romance novels in the second chance genre go this way. Unless there is a damn good reason, I have trouble forgiving. I know that Bailey needed to bolt to make her dreams come true and I am fine with that. But rarely coming home to visit is what bothers me the most. Thankfully, I was able to forgive her.

Seth never left Noel. It is and always will be his home. If only he could make Bailey see how wonderful Noel is and how much he still loves her. When Bailey comes to town with a film crew she will find more than the hometown Christmas she has always loved. She finds herself wanting another chance at love with Seth. The development of Bailey and Seth as a couple is slow which I liked. While the background focus is filming the movie and Bailey making sure her bosses are happy, she and Seth become friends again. Of course, Seth is being understandably cautious with his heart this time. I truly enjoyed watching all their interactions. This couple was mature and courteous of each other. In fact I adored every single character on the pages; some of which I am eager to read about in the earlier books of this series.

The pace of this book is perfect. The author gave me not only a satisfying story with a great ending, but she truly out did herself with the Christmas aspect. Who knows how I will be able to celebrate our usual Christmas this year with everything going on in the world today. 2020 has not been a good year. So, when I am gifted with stories such as this one, I am happy. I absolutely recommend this book. If you are a lover of Christmas romances, Noel, Alabama is a must read!

This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

My 📝Review📝: 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Bully King by Andi Jaxon

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

First, I’ll start off by saying that one of the heroes in this book was an awful person. The author justified why he acted like the huge jerk he was but not the way he treated Jonah. I despise bullies and despite that fact, I wanted to read this book anyway. I am a fan of this author and the way she pulls my emotions forward. She isn’t afraid to cross boundaries and put her characters in horrific circumstances then give them the happily-ever-after they deserve. Unfortunately, there was just no full redemption for me regarding Roman. While he turned things around late in the book, I couldn’t let go of the cruel things he did, or let happen to Jonah. And for that reason, I could not award this book five stars. This deduction of one star is based on how I felt during and when the book was finished. It was NOT based on the author’s writing talent. As I said, Andi Jaxon is an author that will rip my heart out and put it back together. She has the ability to make me so angry, so frustrated and so incredibly sad, as well as some happy moments. All the feels!

Jonah comes from an incredibly religious family. They just moved to town as Jonah’s father is the new pastor. There is a lot of religious references in this book. Truthfully, that didn’t bother me. We have many religious traditions in our family. That said, while people have their own opinions on the subject in this book, never is it okay, in my eyes or heart, to condemn a person for who they are. As long as they aren’t hurting people, I am accepting and welcoming. It broke my heart that Jonah was terrified to be himself. I’m not going to get into the story so you can form your own opinions. I will say that I was happier in the last third of the book and more so during the last chapters. This book is so emotional, I had to put it down for hours at a time before I could continue.

Warning…..there are triggers in this book. Talk of suicide. Tremendously cruel bullying. Violence.
Domestic abuse. The author states all intimacy was consensual however there was a time or two where I felt the lines were blurred. But that is just my take on it. Because we all have different experiences in our lives, I believe readers will have different opinions of this book. As I mentioned earlier in my review, my dislikes for the book were because of my own feelings and not the author’s writing. I’ll say this though, if you’re looking for an emotional journey, I recommend this book; it will gut you.

This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Synopsis

It’s the opportunity she’s dreamed of…

After spending two years focused on her career, Rowan West is finally up for an advertising manager promotion. Holiday parties and gift-buying are on hold as Rowan travels to New Hampshire to create a marketing campaign that can revive a struggling, Christmas-themed resort and adventure park. Rowan’s brains and ambition make her shine, and she won’t allow anything to get in her way—especially not her far-too-handsome competitor with a sense of humor and high-up connections.

He needs to prove himself…

Jeremy Kincannon is competitive enough to fight tooth and nail for a promotion he doesn’t even want. Because his stepfather owns the company, no one believes he earned his spot despite having climbed up from the bottom like everyone else. He’s intrigued by his button-upped, business-only colleague who’s distractingly pretty. So he lays down a challenge—he’ll call a truce to their verbal sparring if she tries to have fun.

As their rivalry wanes and attraction grows, will Jeremy and Rowan embrace the magic of Christmas?

The Magic of Christmas by Christi Barth

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4 Stars to The Magic of Christmas by Christi Barth.
I loved the premise of this book. The fact that the majority of the story takes place at a Christmas themed resort and amusement park is just icing on the cake. I wish there was such a place near where I live. Upstate and several hours of driving there was a Christmas themed amusement park. But because it was so far away and didn’t have striking reviews, we never visited. The author gave me such excitement as she described her little town in New Hampshire with the Christmas resort. I felt the fun and excitement as if I was there. There were so many fun things to do that I was swept away by not only the storyline, but Christmas as well.

Rowan and Jeremy are rivals at the same marketing firm. Rowan was vying for a promotion and she won’t let anything get in her way of receiving it. Especially Jeremy who is up for the same promotion. When they both are named finalists, Rowan isn’t happy. While in her own mind, she is better than Jeremy, he has a better chance. Jeremy is the bosses stepson. Rowan, as with many of the staff at the firm, believe Jeremy got his position due to nepotism. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Both Jeremy and Rowan are being sent to New Hampshire to create a campaign to save the theme park, which hasn’t been doing well. They both must come up with their own campaign and present it to the board. There can only be one winner.

I’m not going to lie, I disliked Rowan and her condescending attitude from the moment I read the first page. She was so full of herself. Unfortunately, it took me a good portion of the book to understand her better. Jeremy, however, I liked from the beginning. He was a gentleman. He made me laugh and he was considerate of Rowan from the beginning, even when I didn’t believe she deserved his friendship.

As the story goes on, their friendship grows into romance. But before they even have a chance to admit their feelings for each other, something happens that sends Rowan back to Chicago earlier than planned. And alone.

This is a sweet, fun, and sometimes whimsical story and I recommend it to anyone who loves romance with a Christmas theme. It was a pleasure to read.

This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

The Christmas Makeover by Susan Lute

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a wonderful, feel-good story. This book was a breath of fresh air, an original story and I absolutely loved it!

Why did it have to end? How often do you read a great book and then when it’s over, that book is all you think about? Well, The Christmas Makeover was that book for me. I read so many books each month and most of them become forgettable. There was just something special about this book that is still strongly resonating with me. I want to live in Angel Point. I want to be friends with Grant and Faith. Another wonderful thing about this book is the premise. I haven’t read one like this in so long which only added to my enjoyment. The Christmas Makeover is a sweet, clean romance. So if you’re looking for intense and dirty, this book is not for you. The pace was steady, the characters, which there are many of, were all amazing in their own ways and added even more enjoyment. My only complaint is that I wish there was an epilogue. The H/h didn’t have enough time together as a couple before the book was over. I am not going to give you a summary for the sole reason, that I don’t want to spoil your reading enjoyment. I will add that the author does an amazing job depicting the holidays. I am so ready for the fun and chaos of Christmas. Especially this year.

This book is part of a series so I can only hope the author will let us revisit Grant and Faith in the next book. Gosh, I adored them! I recommend this adorable, heartwarming book to anyone looking for an endearing, feel-good holiday story. It was wonderful and a must read.

Jason Regan is a man on the go. Excluding his high school years in Holly, Idaho, he’s never settled in one place. Building his engineering company requires a lot of travel, so when he returns to Holly to visit his aunt and pay a decade-old parking ticket, he’s not planning to stay for Christmas. The judge’s ruling changes that—he’s assigned community service at an animal shelter requiring his skills.

Former lawyer Tess Evans moved home to pursue her true calling—managing the Forever Home Animal Shelter. The shelter is chronically underfunded and understaffed. So, to raise money and awareness, she organizes a ‘Home for the Holidays’ adoption event at Holly’s Christmas festival. Getting a skilled volunteer at such a critical time is a gift and Tess takes full advantage. Their to-do list is long, and not falling in love is number one.

As their attraction grows, they keep forgetting Jason’s stay in Holly is temporary. Can Tess, a lonely terrier named Neville and some Christmas magic change his mind?

A Home for the Holidays by Jeannie Watt

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Home for the Holidays by Jeannie Watt was a fun and enjoyable Christmas related romance. While most of the book was predictable, I found myself enjoying it as if I hadn’t ever read anything similar. The characters especially, were endearing and complex at the same time. I knew there would be a happy ending however, I wasn’t sure how Jason and Tess would get there. So, there was the intrigue in that aspect. I have read this author many times previously and always enjoy her stories, characters and premises. I’m probably in the minority, but I don’t like a lot of angst in my romances unless I’m reading a specific genre where I know it will be prominent. That said, this book has a bit, but not too much.

As the Christmas aspect of this book goes, I loved it. I love the holiday season and everything that goes with it. For me, Christmas romances are a part of my holiday traditions and I start reading them as early as September. Christmas comes and goes to quickly as far as I’m concerned.

Tess runs the local animal shelter. While she does have volunteers, she could always use more help. There is always some task needing to be done. But her biggest worry is whether or not she will receive the grant she applied for. The town council will only award her the money IF she finds homes for all the remaining animals at the shelter by Christmas Eve.

Jason has come back to Holly to visit his aunt and pay a parking ticket fine. A decade old fine. Instead of a monetary penalty, the judge requires Jason to spend 100 hours helping at the animal shelter. While Jason pays his dues, he finds himself enjoying the time spent with furry friends. One furry friend, in particular. In addition, Jason is growing feelings for Tess. But that is not a good idea since he is planning to go back to California in a couple of weeks.

I enjoyed watching Tess and Jason become more than friends. Jason was an amazing character; a gentleman and a thoughtful and considerate man. Tess was a great match for him in every way. This was such a sweet story and I recommend it for anyone looking for a sweet, holiday romance.

This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Fast paced, enjoyable read! Loved Romi and Clay!

Here’s the thing…..I love romances that are set around small towns and cowboys. I can admit that this is one on my top five, favorite romance genres. Add a sexy, sweet, protective vet into the fold and just bring on the sighs.

Fake Heart is the second book in the My True Heart series and I enjoyed it even more than the first book. Clay is the town’s only vet and to say he is busy is an understatement. The man has no time for anything other than work. He has a huge heart and will always go help an animal in need; probably more so than humans. And while he loves his job, Clay is neglecting a social life and his friends. And while he wishes he had more free time, Clay knows that isn’t likely to happen unless he makes some changes. And it isn’t until he meets Romi that Clay considers change.

Romi was a great heroine. Having to deal with the criticism of her parents regarding the life she is leading doesn’t stop Romi from making her own way. I have to admit, I didn’t much care for Romi’s superficial family. The fact that she doesn’t let their snobbery influence her only made me respect her more.

I don’t want to say too much about the story so I don’t ruin it for you. I did love the way that Romi and Clay met for the first time. That scenario says a lot about the types of characters they are. This book has a tiny bit of angst and an amazing cast of characters. The pace is steady and I was able to read this book in one sitting, uninterrupted. You do not have to read the first book in the series to fully enjoy this one. But I do recommend it. There is where you meet Clay for the first time.

Looking forward to the next in the series. I’d love to see a Christmas story out of one of the characters. That would definitely make my day.

This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

So when the festival is threatened with cancellation, she comes up with an idea: a new slogan and advertising campaign topped off with a metal menorah large enough to fill the center of town. But even though her heart and dreams are large, the committee’s budget constraints threaten to stop her grand plans right in their tracks.

Famous metal sculptor Isaac Lieberman also loves Hanukkah. But his vision of a perfect Hanukkah isn’t a commercial community event—it’s spending time with family, following age-old traditions. He’s not interested in the festival, no matter how many times his grandmother, his bubbe, asks him to contribute one of his sculptures.

Then Sarah comes tumbling into his life…can she change his mind about more than just the holidays?

Miracles and Menorahs by Stacey Agdern

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What an enjoyable and insightful read. Miracles and Menorahs was my first book by Stacey Agdern. I will definitely look into reading more of her titles. While I don’t personally celebrate Hanukkah, I loved and connected with this book. I especially loved the characters of the town of Hollowville and how most of them came together to help make the annual Hanukkah celebration a success. The author describes the small NY town in detail with such entertaining narrative that I felt truly connected to the town and the story. I loved learning about the traditions of Hanukkah in a way that I hadn’t before. This book was beautifully written and a gem for anyone who loves small-town holiday romance.

As romances go, the relationship growth between Sarah and Isaac is very slow and doesn’t culminate until the end of the book. But I appreciated the slow build because otherwise this book wouldn’t have been so realistic. There are many secondary characters that help to move the story along, each bringing a certain depth. While this book was just a touch angsty, all the characters (except one ignorant antagonist) were loyal, mature, and friendly.

As you’ve learned from the blurb, Sarah is in charge of the annual Hanukkah festival this year. While she is honored and excited to make the festival a success, there is a great deal of pressure and worry that she will fail. This year could be the last for the festival and that can’t happen. Sarah continues to work toward her goal of making sure every aspect of the festival is successful. But what would be the best offering, a giant sculpted metal menorah for the town square, may not happen.

Isaac loves Hanukkah but not the commercialism of it. He will not contribute to a festival whose goal is to only make money. Isaac is devoted to age-old traditions and this is why he refuses to help. So, you have to wonder how Sarah and Isaac even become friends. As I said earlier in my review, the characters are mature as well as charming, friendly, and considerate.

I definitely recommend this sweet story; it is sure to inspire in many ways. This is my honest and unbiased review and I that you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Synopsis:

I can explain.
Kind of.
I realize the wig and makeup don’t help my case, but that’s not the point.
The point is, Sebastian came at me first.
He’s the one who started this war, but I’m the one who finished it.
I’m not even sorry about it.
Fine. Maybe I am. A little.
That’s the only explanation as to why I just agreed to play his fake girlfriend so he—we—can win a million dollars on the hottest reality show contest ever filmed on campus.
Don’t get it wrong though, Sebastian and I may look like we love each other, but everyone knows reality TV is nothing but scripted lies and staged kisses.

My Review: 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Subscriber Wars by Kristy Marie

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow! This is another original story from this author. Her talent for storytelling is incredible. You can’t help but to fall helplessly in love with her characters.
If you’re a little bored with the same old romance tropes and genres then Kristy Marie is an author you will want to read, if you haven’t already. Her writing style is crafty, witty, engaging and down-right exceptional. I am 100% in love with her books. Each book is better than the one before. Each book has depth, complexity and originality. ALL her characters are amazing and you will love them all.

So, Subscriber Wars is a standalone and part of a series. They are next generation to her Commander in Briefs series. You don’t have to read those books prior but I promise you will have an even better reading experience if you do. Subscriber Wars is Valentina and Sebastian’s story. This book has a myriad of emotions throughout. Angst being first and foremost. Wit, snark, humor, and sexiness is in abundance as well. This book is thorough and entertaining and for me, it will be hard to knock it off the pedestal I have placed it on.

Unfortunately, I cannot tell you anything about the book other than it’s fantastic. The story/drama unfolds with each chapter and culminates with a fantastic and unpredictable ending. Those two epilogues? Priceless!

Vee and Sebastian have incredible chemistry. One of my favorite aspects of this book is having both H/h perspectives. So happy I could be inside both their heads. Vee is a unique heroine; I adored her personality and the way she owned up to her mistakes. Sebastian was another amazing character. His persona is willful, arrogant, and sexiness oozes from him. And yet he is not perfect. Sebastian also doesn’t run from his mistakes. But there are things he does want to run away from. That aspect gives the book depth. I wondered throughout, what his decision would be in the end.

I absolutely recommend this book to everyone who loves romance with a side of snark and a whole lot of humor. Subscriber Wars is a perfectly balanced novel.

This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
