MY 📝REVIEW📝: 🌟🌟🌟🌟

A Convenient Christmas Proposal by C.J. Carmichael

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sweet story but a bit of a nail-bitter.

A Convenient Christmas Proposal by author C.J. Carmichael is book two of The Shannon Sisters series. While this book can be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend you read book 1, A Cowboy’s Proposal prior, for a more thorough reading experience. I have read many of this author’s works and have enjoyed them all. In particular, I love the Christmas ambiance of the small Montana town of Whitefish.

Mick and Kelly…..
Kelly is a police officer for their hometown. She takes her job seriously and she is standardly a by-the-book officer. One night. while on duty, Kelly is following up on a call about a possible DUI. Before she even has the chance to make her presence known by flashing her lights and turning on her siren, the driver speeds up and looses control of his car and crashes. Danny, who I met in book one was killed instantly. While Danny hasn’t been an upstanding citizen, Kelly is heartbroken. You see, Danny leaves behind an older brother, wife and two adorable small children. I’m going to say that for me, Billy and Mandy, were the story. It was their well-being that kept me fully engaged and nail biting at times.

Mick is heartbroken about losing his brother the way he did. However, because of Danny’s lifestyle and choices, Mick wasn’t surprised. Though he is grieving, his first priority is taking care of Danny’s family; especially his adorable niece and nephew. Unfortunately, Mick’s sister-in-law has her own issues of drug abuse and her first priority is not her children. I won’t go into details as there is a bit of suspense to the story and I wouldn’t want to ruin that aspect for you.

To sum this book up, A Convenient Christmas Proposal is emotional and sad at times. But there is hope and healing. Mick and Kelly get off to a slow start and that is just how it should have been given the circumstances. I enjoyed catching up with characters from book one and there is even a pleasant surprise for the Shannon sisters that I didn’t see coming. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series. I think that one will be the most emotional of the three.

This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it.

It’s almost Christmas and nationally-ranked barrel racer Ivy Wyckoff has returned home to Montana desperate for a miracle. A cowgirl to her bones, she’s always solved her own problems, but when her ex—rodeo champ, Sam Wyatt—shows up offering more than a shoulder to cry on, Ivy’s tempted to grab the safety line he throws.

Sam Wyatt just wrapped his most successful year on the PRCA circuit. After long days and even longer nights, all he wants is a quiet holiday on his family’s Paradise Valley ranch…until he sees Ivy again. He can tell she’s in trouble. They may have called it quits two years ago, but she’s the one woman he regretted walking away from.

Sam will do anything to keep Ivy safe, including putting a ring on her finger and sharing his name with her this Christmas.

MY 📝REVIEW📝: 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Montana Cowboy Christmas by Jane Porter

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed the character presence in this book. Every character on the page had a great personality and I wanted to know more about them. Sam and Ivy’s story was very enjoyable. Despite the angst and tenseness surrounding them, it was so apparent they belonged together. I felt their connection strongly. Having once been a couple, Sam and Ivy broke up leaving each other heartbroken. Their situation is one where a better element of communication between them would have likely kept them together.

Sam has returned home from a very lucrative season on the PBR circuit. He is spending the holidays with his family, then Sam will venture off to build a life for himself on his own ranch. It isn’t that he doesn’t adore his family, because that couldn’t be further from the truth. The Wyatt family is loving, loyal and protective of each other. Sam just wants something of his own.

Ivy has come to town to get herself together. Putting her trust in the wrong person cost her dearly; emotionally and financially. Ivy is definitely down on her luck. Being the strong independent woman she is makes her fierce and determined to get back on her feet. If that means taking a job as a bartender in a seedy local Montana bar, then so be it.

When Sam learns Ivy is in town, he has mixed feelings. But finding out that she is working in a seedy bar causes him to reevaluate his feelings. What happened to her? Why isn’t she barrel racing? What happened to her money? Sam is concerned and as a result, he puts his feelings aside to try and help her.; if she’ll let him.

I won’t go into details as you should definitely read this book on your own. There are a few twists and turns and even a pleasant surprise. I love this series thus far and can’t wait for the other two Wyatt brothers to get their books. I definitely recommend this sweet, slightly angsty holiday romance to anyone looking for a great story.

This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Christmas Valley restaurant owner Angela Corker isn’t happy to see Nicky Frost again. After his uncle banned Christmas, the residents have been struggling financially. So every year she puts on a “Secret Christmas” celebration for the town. Nick is beyond handsome and friendly, but can she trust him with her secret when his uncle is the town Grinch?

They both have secrets, but as they join forces to bring back the joy of Christmas, they discover so much more than they were looking for.

My Review: 🌟🌟🌟🌟

The Secret Christmas by Mallory Kane

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Small towns love to do up the Christmas holiday like no other time of the year. A town called Christmas Valley would have the best presentation with the citizens loving and appreciating every element of it. However, this small town, despite its name, doesn’t do Christmas at all. One of the town’s wealthy residents has decreed there shall be no decorating or celebrating the holiday in his town. Mr. Frost lost his wife several years prior. Since then, he closed himself off from the town he and his wife loved so much. He bought up all the property in town and even some residences. Because he owned nearly all of Christmas Valley, he made sure that no one would celebrate Christmas while he was still alive. There is a story to go with Mr. Frost’s ‘Scrooge’ behavior but I’ll let you unravel that on your own.

Nicholas and Angela…….
Two childhood best friends separated by life circumstances. When Nicholas’s uncle is injured, he is summoned to Christmas Valley after so many years. His uncle wants him to be his spy and make sure the town is not sneaking around behind his back, since he can’t do it himself. To say Nick is shocked by his uncle’s behavior is an understatement. Additionally, Nick is shocked by the lack of Christmas in the town, as he had many fond memories from that time of the year.

While Angela is surprised and delighted to see her ‘Nicky’ after so many years; she is suspicious of him. You see, Angela and the delightful citizens of Christmas Valley are planning a ‘secret Christmas.’ Trusting Nicky might be a huge mistake. She hasn’t seen or heard from him in years. How could she trust someone she hardly knows to keep the town’s biggest secret.

While these two become close and their feelings turn from friends to something more, the clock is ticking. Christmas Eve is coming and so is the nearing departure of Nicholas. He has a life in another state that he plans to return to. So, how will he and Angela work.

I really enjoyed this sweet story. The characters are so lovable, the town and its citizens are fierce and loyal and even grumpy Mr. Frost’s icy heart will melt. There is humor and a touch of angst to keep you turning those pages. I was endeared by this book as a whole; there were so many memorable moments. I would love to visit this town again while Christmas is done up properly. Though, I don’t know if these authors are planning another trip to Christmas Valley but if they are, I’m definitely coming along!

This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

My 📝Review📝:

Montana Christmas Magic by Kaylie Newell

My rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Oh how I love revisiting Marietta, Montana; especially during the holidays. The small town of Marietta does Christmas and romance in the best of ways. Their celebrations are fun and memorable for everyone. I can’t tell you the number of couples that had special moments during the Stroll. And I got to be with them through all these amazing stories and authors that write about this incredible small but endearing town.

Raelyssa and Griffin…….
Wow, these two were definitely two sides of the same coin. While they both had big hearts, their personalities couldn’t be more different. Rae was social, outgoing, generous, sweet, considerate and I could keep going with positive adjectives to describe how wonderful of a character she was in my opinion. Griffin, however, was not so outgoing. While he is quiet, polite and considerate, Griffin’s personality is aloof, predictable and guarded. He has good reasons for not wanting to have a relationship with any woman. Griffin and his brothers grew up with a famous father who loved them but didn’t know how to care for them AND be a famous singer so he sent his sons to live with a relative in Marietta. I haven’t read about Griffin’s brothers yet as his is the first book in the series but from this book, I can say he was not happy. I truly felt sad for him at times. He was so afraid to open up to love and even friendships. I won’t go into the story because you will want to form your own opinions. I can tell you though, I enjoyed watching every one of Griffin’s reactions to Rae. She was a breath of fresh air and so, so perfect for him. Rae was such a great person. Despite the tough times Rae has gone through, she was resilient and persistent. I think she just might be one of my top ten favorite female protagonists this year.

I truly recommend this heartwarming, memorable and adorable romance between two characters who absolutely deserved happiness. This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it.

Synopsis:

He flips houses. She flips hearts…

Independent contractor Garrett Brown hopes to survive Christmas in Last Stand, Texas, without too much fuss. Not interested in the rancher lifestyle, he plans to flip the house he inherited on Cottonwood Ranch and move onto his next project. Little Cody, the nephew he’s raising, needs stability, and he’s got a home waiting for them in California. The last thing Garrett needs is to become attached to anyone—or any place—or to get involved with silly Christmas festivities.

Kindergarten teacher Nicole Russell adores Christmas and is counting on the holiday to get her through her recent at-the-altar break up. Tired of pitying looks from the townsfolk, she decides to chair the Honeysuckle Holiday Fundraiser. When she reaches out to the new owner of Cottonwood Ranch, the perfect venue site, she expects cooperation, not stonewalling. Undeterred, Nicole makes her case with persuasive arguments that the too-handsome stranger in town cannot dodge and they strike a bargain.

Nicole and Garrett are at odds, but their holiday pact and the power of Christmas may change both of their lives forever.

MY 📝REVIEW📝: 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Merry Christmas, Cowboy by Charlene Sands

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was so sweet and sad at the same time. It is such a beautiful thing to watch couples fall in love despite the obstacles against them. Garrett has temporarily moved to Last Stand with his nephew Cody. Garrett is Cody’s sole guardian after Cody’s parents passed away, both at different times. That in itself was so sad. Little Cody was adorable and also a courageous little boy. With everything he has gone through in his five years of life, I thought he was brave and resilient. All Garrett wants is to flip the house his uncle left him, take the money and start a new life for him and Cody in California. Garrett’s mind is set and nothing is going to change it. After meeting Cody’s kindergarten teacher, Nicole, Garrett’s mindset starts to waiver. As he and Nicole become friends, their feelings for each other grow into something beautiful.

Personally, I loved that Garrett was a bit of a grump because it was fun to watch Nicole break down the walls around his heart. It wasn’t that Garret wasn’t capable of loving; because he adored Cody. Garrett was guarded because he couldn’t stand to lose another person that he loved. I won’t get into details so you can experience this story for yourself. I will tell you that this author did a great job engaging me in the story and endearing me to Cody, Garrett and Nicole. The Christmas theme was wonderful and I loved revisiting Last Stand, Texas for the Christmas holiday. I definitely recommend Merry Christmas, Cowboy.

This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

He never expected to find himself battling Sweet Ridge’s very own Miss Christmas. Game on.

But this year she’s got some competition. No way is she going to let the cocky Trey Prentice take away her Christmas crown, even though he makes her heart flutter.

When their verbal sparring turns to flirting, Maggie finds there’s more to life than books and Christmas. But will her past insecurities steal her newfound happiness?

My 📝Review📝: 4 Stars. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

A Merry Texan Christmas by Nicole Flockton

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was a fun read. A whimsical treat sure to attract readers who love sweet romance with a Christmas theme. Maggie and Trey had so much in common, yet they were so different at the same time. One thing they both loved though, was Christmas. Maggie is so over-the-top obsessed with Christmas that she is known by her small town as ‘Miss Christmas’. This is a title Maggie takes very seriously. She prides herself on being the best at decorating and she loves to dress up all the store windows in town. Her Christmas displays are known as the best and everyone looks forward to them. But when Trey Prentice, former professional baseball player, returns home and purchases a local book store, Maggie finds she has competition.

Trey is not aware of Maggie and her ‘Miss Christmas’ alter ego. So, when he decorates his store window for Christmas, Maggie is upset, and a bit jealous. The town is amazed by Trey’s display and comments are made to Maggie that maybe she has competition now. You can guess that Maggie and Trey don’t hit it off right away. Truthfully, Trey is not a bad guy. He is not trying to one-up Maggie. He simply decorated his store window. Maggie admits that Trey’s window display was amazing but she was not happy about it.

So, Trey and Maggie are off to a rocky start. But Trey doesn’t let Maggie and her bad attitude about him continue for long. As he finds himself trying to be her friend, he is able to cause Maggie to drop her guard and trust him a little more each day.

Without giving details, I’ll tell you that is was so much fun to watch these two grow as a couple. The pace of their relationship is slow which makes it more realistic. There is a bit of angst as well when Trey is offered a mentor job in the NBL. What will happen to his growing relationship with Maggie if he takes the job? You’ll just have to read it and find out.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Reading this book kept me smiling throughout. A Merry Texan Christmas is the third book in the Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge series. I am looking forward to reading about Trey’s brothers in the previous books.

This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Noel, Alabama: An Alabama Christmas Romance by Susan Sands

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was really an enjoyable book. All the elements of Christmas in a small-town atmosphere with a bit of angst and a wonderful cast of characters. I have not read any of the previous books in the Alabama series as of yet but after reading this one, I definitely am looking forward to it. One of my favorite aspects of romance novels are the small-town tropes. Add Christmas and a bit of whimsy and I’m very happy. In addition to reading and loving this book, I am happy to say that I have found a new author that I like. I can’t wait to read more of this series.

Bailey and Seth…..
Why is it that one half of a couple is always eager to run away from their hometown? And in doing that, inevitably breaking the heart of their soulmate. I just don’t get it. So many romance novels in the second chance genre go this way. Unless there is a damn good reason, I have trouble forgiving. I know that Bailey needed to bolt to make her dreams come true and I am fine with that. But rarely coming home to visit is what bothers me the most. Thankfully, I was able to forgive her.

Seth never left Noel. It is and always will be his home. If only he could make Bailey see how wonderful Noel is and how much he still loves her. When Bailey comes to town with a film crew she will find more than the hometown Christmas she has always loved. She finds herself wanting another chance at love with Seth. The development of Bailey and Seth as a couple is slow which I liked. While the background focus is filming the movie and Bailey making sure her bosses are happy, she and Seth become friends again. Of course, Seth is being understandably cautious with his heart this time. I truly enjoyed watching all their interactions. This couple was mature and courteous of each other. In fact I adored every single character on the pages; some of which I am eager to read about in the earlier books of this series.

The pace of this book is perfect. The author gave me not only a satisfying story with a great ending, but she truly out did herself with the Christmas aspect. Who knows how I will be able to celebrate our usual Christmas this year with everything going on in the world today. 2020 has not been a good year. So, when I am gifted with stories such as this one, I am happy. I absolutely recommend this book. If you are a lover of Christmas romances, Noel, Alabama is a must read!

This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Meet Liza Jonathan

Write what you know. Isn’t that what they always say?

Though I currently live in the flat, flat lands of Indiana, I’ve spent most of my life in West Virginia, Kentucky and Tennessee. As I have found out, you can take the girl out of Appalachia, but you can’t take the Appalachia out of the girl.

So now, I write magically delicious romances dedicated to the locations, legends and lore from the thirteen Appalachian states. I find the enchantment of home inspires me to tell tales.

When I’m not haunting the house at all hours writing, I have another life as a PR consultant, and a mother to my two teenage sons. I am lucky enough to still be happily married to my college sweetheart, who inspires me every day.

Stay tuned. There’s so much more to come!
