Journey back to Neverland, NC with NYT & USA Today Bestselling Author Gina L. Maxwell as she turns your favorite villain into the hero you never knew you needed.

I’m Captain of the Pirates; a villain by design and a loner by nature.

I don’t need anyone. More than that, I don’t want anyone. Especially Officer John Darling who insists on seeing the good in everything, including me. If there was ever any good inside of me, it was snuffed out long ago.

I’ve avoided him for years, but now I need his help to save my brother’s life and take down Fred Croc, the monster from my childhood and my current employer.

Now Darling is undercover in my crew, living in my loft and forever working out shirtless. Taking Croc’s operation down from the inside is dangerous as hell, but Darling’s probing gaze and the natural way he defers to my dominant side might just be the end of me.

But I’ve lived in the dark for too long, and no amount of light can save me. Not even one as bright as Johnathan Darling.

I’m a Task Force Officer with the FBI; a protector of the innocent and a man in love with a villain.

Before I was even old enough to understand it, I had a crush on the broody teen called Captain Hook, following him around like a puppy and hoping he’d show me the slightest bit of attention.

He never did, though, not for years. Not until I became his only viable option for getting his crew member back and throwing Croc behind bars. Now he can’t ignore me, and he can’t hide the desire burning in his eyes when I sink to my knees, eager to serve my Captain however he needs.

But secrets are hard to keep in close quarters, and when I discover the darkness lurking in his past, eradicating the evil in Neverland is no longer my only mission. Come hell or high water, I’ll make Hook see that he’s never been the villain of this story…he’s the hero.

*Trigger Warning for readers sensitive to characters with sexual assault in their pasts. Please read the Author’s Note in the beginning of the book for more details.

📝My Review📝: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Hook (Neverland #2)Hook by Gina L. Maxwell

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hook by Gina Maxwell was a very dark, intense and disturbing read. I will warn you….. for those of you who are triggered by child abuse of a sexual nature you may want to be extra cautious. While there is no current abuse, there are flashbacks. That said, the flashbacks are not all explicitly graphic, however the author is very talented at painting the picture regardless. There will be no mistaking what you’re reading about.

I praise Gina Maxwell for the boundaries she crosses in her writing. These details are not easy to read, so I know that are even that much more difficult to write. that being said, I read a review copy but I understand in the original finished copy has an alternate chapter.

This book brought forth many emotions the most prominent being anger, and heartbreak. So, you are probably wondering why I read such a book? Life isn’t always painted with blue skies and butterflies. Sometimes we need reminders that this world isn’t perfect. Books like Hook bring that reality into perspective. And when we are given a beautifully written, believable happy ending our feeling of joy and elation will be that much more appreciated. I praise this author for writing realistic and believable text.

Hook is one of my favorite MM romances. Hook was a character whose whole purpose in life was to protect those around him. No matter how high and despicable the cost. Hook is a criminal by trade but not by choice. He is careful not to let people too close knowing the end will result in more despair for him and those he loves.

John Darling had a connection with Hook since they were children. But it wasn’t until more than a decade later these two amazing men would be able to explore a relationship, albeit extremely carefully. I don’t want to give any of the story away. This is a book you’ll want to read without any spoilers. I don’t even want to comment on the last chapter; the ending. I will say that while I was pleased how things are going well for John and Hook, I am anxious for the next book in this series to assure me they are still going strong.

Hook is book two in Gina L. Maxwell’s Neverland series. The first book titled, Pan is Peter and Wendy’s story. It is also where we learn the dynamic of the Lost Boys, Hook and his pirates and the evil that is Fred Croc. Hook is a standalone but I think you’ll get more out of the story if you read Pan as well.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it.

My Review:

Orion: A Constellations Novel #1 (Constellations, #1)Orion: A Constellations Novel #1 by Raeah Wilding

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Incredible story! 5 Stars to Orion by by author Raeah Wilding.

Just wow! This book had everything! Definitely all the feels. My emotions ranged from compassion to sadness, to fear and worry to relief. I smiled and cried. There were moments (many) that I felt my stomach drop to my feet. Was this book strictly romance? No! While it was about finding and trusting in love, it was also about healing and resolution. There was violence and suspense. God, I could just go on and on but I don’t want to give away any details so you can enjoy this book on your own.

Orion and Hope (Lillian)

I’ll be brief, as I mentioned I don’t want to spoil any of this heartwarming book for you. Orion is former military as is his faithful and loving canine companion Zeus. Both Zeus and Orion served several tours together in Afghanistan. Things happened there that shape this story. There was violence and cruelty resulting in the continuing emotional suffering that Orion and Zeus are suffering with. I’ll say it right now…my heart broke over and over for them. Both of them!

Orion is not ready for society so he is living off the grid in a remote area of Alaska. While out one day, he and Zeus end up having to save a women from an avalanche. Orion takes her home and has to care for her himself because they are so far from any town. As the author mentions in the blurb, the woman, Hope, has lost her memory. What follows is an amazing story of how these two people found trust and friendship with each other. And ultimately love and healing. Their journey is not easy. There is trouble brewing and danger lurking. Both Orion and Hope will soon see how meant to be they were. Sorry I can’t say more. This story was a roller coaster of emotion. And I truly loved every minute of it. I was so happy with how things turned out.

This author was a first-time read for me. I definitely will be reading more of her work.
This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it.

Jagged Edge

Genres:  Romance, Dark, MM Romance, Suspense, Violence, Triggers

My Rating:  5

Read:  September 11th 2017

POV:  First-person dual perspectives

Standalone:  *interconnected closely with the Damaged Control Series

I don’t want Jason Vega.
Not at all. I’d better not. It’s the worst idea ever.
Ah hell…

Jason is handsome. Clever. Dangerous. Hot.
He’s goddamn gorgeous – but he’s also living on the street, hanging out with the local MC gang and selling his body for a living.
Our paths, our lives couldn’t be further apart. I’m crawling toward the light, while he falls into the dark.
But it doesn’t matter how different we are, or what logic dictates.
I really shouldn’t want Jason Vega – but I just can’t stop.
He’s under my skin, and sinking deeper…

This is the story of Jason and Raine (whom you met in JESSE-Damage Control 2, and OCEAN-Damage Control 5). It is M/M (gay) romance with hot boy on boy action, You have been warned!

My Review:

Jagged EdgeJagged Edge by Jo Raven

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh my God! Oh my God! I am gutted! This book….f**king fantastic! 5 Stars! My full review coming soon!

5 Stars to Jagged Edge by Jo Raven!

Jo did it to me again! My heart and soul are never safe when reading her books. Jagged Edge was absolutely gut-wrenching, heartbreaking, panic-inducing and angsty. And I wouldn’t have it any other way as this is Jo Raven’s speciality. She will lore you in with the pretense of sexy, sinful heroes but once you’re invested in the story you quickly realize it is not cookie cutter romance. Your heart will beat louder and faster with each page. You will even want to physically hurt the antagonists. And when the HEA comes, you are so damn happy, you will cry. Because Jo’s characters deserve nothing less than their happily ever afters. As Jo mentions in her bio, she lives for torturing her heroes and that makes their HEAs all the more satisfying.

Get your tissues ready!

Raine and Jason…….
Jagged Edge is a standalone but interconnected with Jo Raven’s Damage Control series. If you’ve read that series then you know that Raine is Ocean’s brother. Jason was introduced early in the series with Jesse’s book.

Raine is trying his best to distance himself from his past. He is now living in the same city as his brother, Ocean, and working at the same tattoo shop manning the front desk. Raine is gay. I liked Raine a lot. He was really trying to be a responsible guy. Unfortunately he had a quick temper and was known to say things he later came to regret. He did this often with Jason, constantly making assumptions. Jason, however innocent he was, did not make it easy for Raine to trust him because of his way of life. A way of life that was beyond horrific and tragic. Way beyond. I don’t know how Jason survived to reach his twenties but he did. Jason was also gay. That in itself drew these two together, however there was so much more that kept bringing them together.

Trust was a big issue between Jason and Raine at first. Not only did they have trouble trusting (especially Jason), but the torment in that situation was that they wanted to trust each other. There were some misunderstandings as well. It was easier for Raine to learn to trust because of his circumstances. Once he figured out what he truly wanted, his first and only priority became Jason.

There is a lot of intense situations which include violence. Some violence is on the pages and a lot is inferred. This book has triggers and Jason in particular finds himself in the most horrific circumstances. I won’t go into details because this is a book where you don’t want to know what’s coming. I will say if you love intense, dark, and emotional reads, Jo Raven is an author that will not let you down. This book will be in my head and my heart for a long time to come.

As an afterthought I want to mention that even though this book is romance; it is not a typical one with dates etc. It is emotional, scary, and heartbreaking.

As I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my review; I will tell you that my review is heartfelt, honest and unbiased.

Once, I was nothing.
Hungry, abandoned, wandering, and alone. An adolescent street rat fighting for crumbs.
Then a chance encounter changed my entire world.
A man in an expensive suit asked me how much my life was worth.
I didn’t have an answer, because I didn’t know.
He asked if I thought it was worth killing for.
Impulsively, I said yes…

He found me, then fostered me, and in the interim turned me into a killing machine. A modern day La Femme Nikita.

Now, I only have one mission. To avenge the death of the man who saved me.

There’s an invisible war on the streets. Us against them. Family against family. Power against power.

They call me Ghostface Killer because they never see me coming.

I understand the weight of that danger.
The hazard.
The jeopardy.

Because now here I stand, three months pregnant with the barrel of a gun pressed to my head cause I never saw him coming…

Ghostface KillerGhostface Killer by M. Never

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Holy wow!! 5 Stars to Ghostface Killer by author M. Never.

Stevie and Baz…….

This book was amazing! There was so much going on; all my senses got a workout! And to think I almost passed on reading this book because I was worried it would be too dark. Oh I have nothing against dark romance. My preference though is to read that genre in moderation. I had just finished another one that was extremely dark and violent so I wasn’t sure my heart could take another hit so soon. After eading several reviews on Ghostface Killer I was excited to read it. I’m so glad I did because it’s on my favorite top ten of 2017 so far.

Both Stevie and Bas had less than happy childhoods. I don’t want to say anything about their pasts because those circumstances are revealed gradually as the story unfolds.

I will say that I thought Stevie’s past was horrific and I don’t know how she survived to adulthood. Then when Baz’s issues are revealed I wanted to cry for him too.

My feelings were all over the place with this book. Every emotion, whether it was hate, fear, or love was extremely intense and all-consuming.

Stevie and Bas went through so many obstacles in order to have their HEA. There were many dangerous situations. Lies, secrets, and surprises added even more in the way of angst and conflict to the plot. A plot, by the way, that will keep you guessing. I admit to hating some of the sadder moments towards at the end. So much of what I believed to be true was not. At one point I couldn’t tell lies from truth or good guys from the bad. I was even afraid to trust the good guys. Take my advice and rather than make predictions, just enjoy the dramatic, erotic, and suspenseful ride of Ghostface Killer

One more thing I’d like to add is how much I loved Bas and Stevie. They were flawed, with tortured souls. Yet they were resourceful, strong, loyal, brave and completely bad*ss.

Can love overcome hate?
When I first laid eyes on the perfect little blonde,
I didn’t think she’d change my life.
But the first time I tasted her, felt her, took her,
I knew she was mine.
I laid a wordless claim because as much as I desired her,
I couldn’t have her.
I craved the dark, she filled me with light.
I loved delivering pain, she craved it.
Opposites merged by circumstance.
Hearts melded by passion.
Can light defeat darkness?
I should have feared him.
Everything about him was drenched in the darkness he exuded.
But one glance into his cobalt eyes, and I knew I was his.
My heart allowed him entry, as did my body.
And after the first time, my soul recognized his.
Desired what he delivered.
I craved his darkness, he bathed in my light.
I submitted to his desires, he craved my very being.
Running from him wasn’t an option.
Fate bound us in its intricate pattern.
*This is a dark romance, suitable for mature audiences, 18+ ONLY. Strong sexual themes and violence, which could trigger emotional distress, are found in this story. Certain scenes are graphic and could be upsetting to some. This story is NOT for everyone. Proceed with caution. Discretion is advised. This is book one of the Forbidden Series, but can be read as a standalone. Each book will feature a different couple. There is NO cliffhanger.

My Review:

Crave (Forbidden, #1)Crave by Dani René

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This book was amazing and very, very emotional. I can’t even imagine the thought process that went into the writing of Crave. Parts of this book are very distressful and highly disturbing. It is not for the faint of heart. There are many situations in this book that may cause triggers. Personally, I am not susceptible to triggers but I admit to feeling stressed at times. That said, the author does promise that there is ‘light’ to the ‘dark.’ Thank God!

Angel and Samael…….

It is a tragedy what Angel endured in this book. She lost her innocence, physically and emotionally in the most horrific and abusive ways. (I bet you’re curious right now as to what I mean) For all she lost, Angel also gained something precious. Love and passion. Pleasure and pain. Pain that she craved.

Samael was a dark and disturbing character. He was a dark man, emotionally and did the things he did as a result of that. Once you read this book and understand everything that is going on, you may just fall in love with him.

For obvious reasons, I didn’t connect 100% to the characters or the story. Still, I was fully engaged and was cheering on Sam and Angel to the very end. They both, for very different reasons, deserved a happily ever after. Unfortunately it wasn’t something that came easy or without sacrifice.

I won’t say much more in the way of details. This book epitomizes angst and darkness. But where there is despair and misery, there is also light and hope. Angel is appropriately named for the love and faith her character brings to the story. Angel is the true hero.

Once more, I need to say how impressed I am by this author. Crave could not have been an easy book to write. Dani Rene crossed boundaries of taboo and the forbidden. Things we don’t usually see or even hear about. If you are a fan of dark romance you will devour this work of art. And even if you aren’t, you will still be amazed by this book and the passion and intensity brought fourth by the words of this amazing author, Dani Rene.

I’ll leave you with this……there is most definitely a satisfying and happy ending!!!

My Review:

Rebel Howl:Lincoln & SavannahRebel Howl:Lincoln & Savannah by M. Corchis

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4 Stars to Rebel Howl: Lincoln & Savannah by author M. Corchis.

Lincoln and Savannah…….
Lately I’ve been craving shifter romances. Rebel Howl has been on my TBR for a while. I’m so glad I read it. This book was all around entertaining. There was a lot of action; not just the sexual kind. However, there was a lot of that as well. Linc is a dirty dog (lol no pun intended). There are also several secondary characters that added intensity to the plot and conflicts. Linc and Savannah got off to a rocky start and pretty much don’t get ‘together’ until the very end of the book. There are several sexual situations with Linc that do not involve Savannah. That said I will say that once he decided Savannah was his one true mate, he was not with any other women. There was no cheating.
I didn’t mind that it took so long for them to resolve their issues. There was so much going on.

I don’t know if my reaction to Linc was only experienced by me but I thought he was funny as hell. Yes, he was arrogant and a total manwh**e. But I found some of his actions outrageous. Linc was also conceited, cocky and a total a-hole but I loved, loved, loved him! He was seriously flawed and I didn’t care one bit. I was constantly smiling.

Linc was possessive and protective with those he cared about. He was also selfish and sexy. I can’t remember when I last experienced a conundrum of mixed emotions. Hate, humor, lust, love. All of the above. I wanted to punch him and hold him close at the same time.

There is not much to say about Savannah’s character. She was a single mother. Trying not to sound unkind, I didn’t really like her. However, I adored Savannah’s daughter, Shay and Savannah’s sister, Lacey.

Rebel Howl is dark and dirty. It is not a sweet and sugary romance. There is violence, death, suspense, and even some angst. There is raunchy sex. In addition, there were a couple of moments where I experienced sadness.

That said, I found this book entertaining. It is a short and steady-paced read. I will add there is not a whole lot of character development as the story takes place in the here and now. Rebel Howl was the first book I have read by M. Corchis. I definitely would like to read more from this author.

My Review:

Deadly ConsequencesDeadly Consequences by Brittney Sahin

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

My Rating: 5 Stars! Absolutely fantastic! I’m speechless right now; this book was full of so many emotions. Deadly Consequences is written by author Brittney Sahin.

Brittney Sahin has written another fantastic novel! Every one of her titles I have had the pleasure of reading, totally blew me away. Truth is, I was so in love with Forever Dublin, that I had my doubts that any of Brittney’s other titles could stand up to the bar that I set so high. In addition, suspense/thriller is not my first choices in the romance genre. I mean no disrespect, but if all the authors in the romantic suspense genre wrote like Brittney, I would need to chance my preferences. I will never turn down this author’s books. Deadly Consequences is my new favorite!

Jake and Alexa…….

I won’t describe the premise because the blurb does a great job at that.

Beautiful, British spy meets sexy, FBI cowboy…….

Deadly Consequences deals with espionage, cyber-terrorism and everything and anything that goes with it. I mean that literally. There was an abundance of complexity in this novel and with the characters. There are several secondary characters constantly along side the H/h throughout the whole book. So much so that I felt very connected to them as well. At one time I even felt sympathy for the villain. I want to add that one character in particular, Xander, has a special place in my heart. I won’t go into the details but Brittney nearly caused me to lose my mind and throw my Kindle. Nearly, but I did not. I can’t say anything more about that. Because this book is fast-paced suspense and there are things that happen as consequences of human behavior, you will hate to have any spoilers.

I was a bit worried about writing a review for this book; one that would truly give it justice. I was so blown away, so enthralled, engrossed, and 100% engaged in this book. To the very last page I was invested.

Deadly Consequences has violence, death, and heart-stopping action. I am beyond impressed with the research that so obviously went into the writing process of this book. Well….that is unless Brittney Sahin lives a secret life of a spy. 😉 Honestly, I never questioned whether any of the circumstances in the book were fact or fiction. The writing was believable; the author very talented.

I absolutely loved this book! If you are a fan of thrilling romantic suspense, I recommend this book!

My Review:

Ransom ( Aces & Eights Motorcycle Club Book 1)Ransom by Logan Chance

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
So the truth is I wasn’t sure what this book was going to be about. I just knew it was an MC novel. Was it romance? Was it suspense? Was there violence? Since I have read both of these authors before, I knew I was likely going to enjoy this novel. If I were to judge this book by the cover, I would not guess it was a sugary sweet romance.

It wasn’t sugary and it wasn’t sweet. I don’t even think I would call the relationships between the two mains and their girls, romantic. Liam and Rory did love their girls, though. Ransom had passion, protectiveness, possessiveness, and the intimacy was sexy and erotic. Yes there was violence too.

Liam and Rory are two of six brothers. All six are members of the Aces & Eights motorcycle club. The bothers are close and protective of one another. They are all loyal ‘brothers’ of the MC club as well. As I said, this book is not sugary, not sweet, not very romantic. There are real and dangerous circumstances going on throughout. There is violence. There is blood. There is retribution and death.

You do not mess with the Aces & Eights or those they care about.

Throughout the book we will have alternating POVs from the heroes only, Liam and Rory Fox. Even though I felt the main focus for both men was their ladies, there really isn’t a lot of interaction with them, considering. I did not mind the lack of relationship development since I was engrossed with the suspense and action aspects. I will say that despite the fact we really don’t get much interaction with Fallon and Audrey, it is explained that there is previous history between them and the men.

But I will say this again…..don’t get on the brother’s bad side!

A few incidents occur that I didn’t expect and was surprised. Some of the story was a little predictable for me. That’s not a bad thing. Since this book is fast-paced and can be read in a few hours, I won’t give away any spoilers; I won’t tell you what my predictions were. Truthfully, I’m a guesser. My curious mind is always trying to figure the plots out. It’s how I read.

I loved this book! I really did!

The story is full of action and sexiness and a half dozen alpha Fox brothers. 😉

I know that with the short length of this book, only so much can be told/explained. However, I wish there was at least a small amount of backstory on each brother. For example, some inferences were made but I would have liked to know descriptions of age, persona, etc. Considering Ransom is the first book in the series, I expected a bit more than we got. But like I said, it was a short book and only so much can be said in that length.

I have read a lot of MC novels. The authors did a great job of giving us a realistic picture of what MC clubs are like. The details were believable, they fight scenes were also done well. I felt like I was there and damn if I didn’t chew off a couple of fingernails.

That said, there are more brothers and more books. I can’t wait to find out what is next for Aces & Eights, Fox brothers. Especially one in particular…I have a soft spot for Keagan. 😉

A free trip to Italy seemed like the perfect gift.

It was supposed to be the vacation of a lifetime and a chance to see the world.

Fires, car chases, and shootouts were not part of the plan, but I should have known better.

Nothing ever comes without a price…

Circumstances forced me to do something I swore I’d never do—walk away from her.

This trip is my chance to win her back, my chance to show her I’m the one. If I only can keep us alive long enough to…

My Review:

Aries Fire (Fire and Water Series Book 2)Aries Fire by Christine Besze

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Cover: 4

I loved this book! Every. Single. Thing. About. It!!!

Aries Fire is book two in the Fire and Water series. Although it is a standalone, you will definitely want to read the first book as well, Leo Rising. The first book does an amazing job of setting up for future books.

This book is suspenseful, dramatic and complex in character development as well as plot conflicts. There were many twists and turns to keep me fully engaged. And…biting my nails!

Jeremy and Dani…….

We first meet Jeremy and Dani in Leo Rising. We knew that they more than liked each other but circumstances kept them apart between the end of book one and the beginning of book two. Dani was so frustrated with Jeremy constantly walking out of her life and never knowing when he’d come back. She missed him deeply and felt hurt by Jeremy’s hot/cold behavior with her. Dani finally decided she had enough!

When Jeremy was finally ready to claim Dani and give her all the attention she deserved, she didn’t want it. She was so fed up and done with him. Jeremy wasn’t going to let her push him away. She belonged to him and now he had to make her see they belonged together.

Can I just stop here for a minute and tell you how much I loved Jeremy. He was sexy, dangerous, protective, caring and a man you didn’t mess with. Ever. By the end of the book I was so in love. (totally cougaring right now 😉 )

There is a colossal amount of dangerous situations and suspense in this book. Violence and downright frightful circumstances arose at every turn. Of course anything mafia related is alarming. Christine Besze is very talented at writing this genre and I can’t wait to read more from her.

Jeremy and Dani, Theo and Sophie (book one), and Joey and Shelby (their book coming soon), set off to vacation in Italy. It was supposed to be fun, sight-seeing, shopping and enjoying all Rome has to offer. Unfortunately what they ended up getting was a mafia related nightmare. There are so many twists and turns that held my attention from page one. Having resolution with the bad situations was not easy. Each step towards safety was like two steps back to danger. While there is a great amount of angst and mystery, thanks to Jeremy’s love for Dani, there was also romance and erotic sexiness as well.

I am not giving anything in the plot away. You’ll enjoy reading and guessing what comes next on your own. I will say again that you won’t be disappointed by reading both and Aries Fire.

Can’t wait for Joey and Shelby’s romance and the suspense that will come with it.
