Synopsis:

People see what they want to see. They only view what’s on the surface, and they’re easy to fool. I let them see on the outside that I’m a successful businesswoman. My clothes are designer, my makeup flawless, and I live in a high-rise condo in Lennox Hills. They see perfection, not what lies beneath the surface.

The real me, the one I keep hidden is a broken-hearted woman who uses the makeup to hide her tears. The expensive clothing covers a heart once shattered by love. The walls of my expensive home shelter a lonely woman who hides the fact that deep down she wants to be loved. A woman who is too scared to risk her fragile heart.

For ten years, I’ve managed to hide behind the image of perfection. Only letting people see what’s on the surface.

Until I ran into him.

Now, every raw emotion, every shattered piece of my heart that I buried long ago is exposed outside the protective walls of my high-rise condo. No matter how hard I try, I can’t keep the walls from crumbling. He sees me beyond the image that I’ve created. He says he can handle what’s below the surface, but can I?

On The Surface is book three in the Imperfect Love series but can be read as a complete standalone.

On the Surface (Imperfect Love, #3)On the Surface by Nikki Ash

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow. Nikki Ash just keeps on impressing me! I loved this book so much! You can tell that this author puts her heart into every story.

Ok, so I’m not going to lie…..when we met Celeste in Nick’s book, The Pick Up, book one in the series, I did not like her. Not at all! Then we are given more of her in Killian and Giselle’s book. There I can admit I still wasn’t on board with the “Celeste” train. She just was not a likable character. And do you know what? I’m glad the author kept her backstory from us until her own book. Celeste is a very complex character. There are many sides to her. But as the title implies, Celeste is just one persona on the surface. There is so much more to this woman. My admiration and respect for her grew expotentionally in my mind and in my heart. No, Celeste was not perfect. She did frustrate me now and again. But this time I understood where she was coming from. Fear is an emotion that has the potential to destroy us. I’m just glad that by the end of the book, Celeste decided to overcome most of her fears to have her happily-ever-after.

Now, Jase, swoon-worthy all the way. Even Jase is more that what you see on the surface. I loved his character from the moment we met him in the past. He was so perfect. If I had to dig deep to find any flaws he might have, I’d be unsuccessful. He was just everything I love in a book boyfriend.

Going into the book, you know these two have a past. And while it was a short one, there were very strong feelings involved. Unfortunately, something happens that separates them for ten years. So much time has passed but the hurt never left either. I’m not going to say they made up quickly because that would make this story a disappointment. The regrowth of their relationship was a slow one. Yes, they had hot chemistry and a few hot moments, but when it came to committing, there were issues that had to be dealt with.

But in the end, I couldn’t have asked for a better “wrap-up.” I’m not ready to say goodbye to these characters. I absolutely can’t wait for Quinn’s book. She is Jase’s sister. I already know her story is going to be great.

This book is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. But trust me, you’ll want to read the two books prior for a better reading experience.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you taking the time to read it. 🙂

Synopsis:

They say that its only just before you die that you truly see what’s important.

Nick Sloan can vouch for that. After being shot in the line of duty and barely pulling through, he knows that his dream job of working SWAT in the big city isn’t the dream he should be chasing. No, when he was lying in that hospital bed, it wasn’t the badge that he thought about, it was her.

Kady Shaw never thought she would see him again but then he turned up, out of the blue. The man she’d loved. The man she’d thought she would spend the rest of her life with. The man that had shattered her heart when he’d chosen a promotion over their engagement. But all of a sudden he’s back in Fate, Texas, back in their small hometown, back and swearing that he’s going to win her back as well.

Can Nick convince her that he can be trusted with her heart again? Is there anything left of Kady’s heart to give? Or is a life tied to a man that will always put himself in danger to save others too much to ask of her?

Out of the BlueOut of the Blue by Jess Bryant

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Out Of The Blue by Jess Bryant was a five star read for me!

Oh, I loved this second chance romance! If you are looking to swoon, this is your book! Another great aspect of this book for me was the groveling the hero had to do. Nick Sloan messed up so bad. He left his true love thinking he could pursue his dreams and not miss her. But when a near fatal shooting happens, Nick realizes just what his dreams really are. But is he too late to fix the damage he caused to Kady’s heart? Kady was devastated by Nick but she is strong enough to not give her heart away so easily again. Especially to Nick. Nick really had to work for her forgiveness. I truly love when a heroine does not give in easily. This book was perfect in that regard.

This author has everything I love in her stories. All the feels, a perfect reading pace and I always stayed engaged in the story from the beginning. Actually, if I had one complaint about this book, it would be that I wanted more. I don’t want to say anything more since this book is short and a quick read. You’ll want to enjoy it all on your own.

Do you love small-town romance with fun, loyal secondary characters? That is another reason you’d love this book. Because this author has such a great talent for storytelling, I remember all her books like I recently read them; Jess Bryant leaves an indelible impression on my heart. Lucky for me there are still a few that I haven’t read yet.

I absolutely recommend this and all the Fate, Texas books in addition to all this author’s works. You won’t be disappointed, I promise!

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it.

As the weeks go by, our attraction grows and I realize what a concerned and caring father he is. And he learns that not every woman is untrustworthy like his ex-wife.

We both agree to walk away from our fling when I leave for college at the end of summer.

Depravity (King University #1)Depravity by Jacob Chance

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

One of my favorite tropes is single father romance. There is just something about the way they love their child. In addition, the vulnerability a single parent has is precious. Of course most, if not all, decisions in their lives are made with their child at the forefront. I can totally appreciate the way a single parent sacrifices their own needs/pleasure in life for their child. This book was great in that aspect. Of course, I will admit that while I do appreciate the previously mentioned personality traits, Miles was a bit gruff. He said the rudest comments. And often. I’m so glad that Sophie was mature because otherwise, I don’t think their relationship would have worked. She was thoughtful enough to understand his emotions, even if they frustrated her at times.

Miles and Sophie’s story is angsty. A quality I also appreciated was how believable their relationship was. The age gap between them was pretty big but that was not a problem for me. Their maturity was what I felt the most rather than the gap in age between them. I won’t say much more because this is a book you’ll enjoy reading on your own. However, I would like to add how much I adored Joey. He was the star of the show so many times. I just adored that little boy! Again, I absolutely love single fathers in romance!

I definitely recommend this book. I can’t wait to read what is coming next in the King’s University Series.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Pitcher (Commander in Briefs #0.5)Pitcher by Kristy Marie

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fantastic!
5 Stars!
Wow! Just wow!
First, I have to tell you this is the prequel to already published Commander In Briefs. Pitcher is not recommended to be read as a standalone. You can read it as a standalone if you want to, but you just can’t appreciate its greatness without reading Commander In Briefs as well. That said, I hope you will give this author a chance because she is an amazing writer. Literally, I am always impatiently waiting for her next release. I immensely enjoyed reading all her books.

Theo and Anniston…..
Ok, so to say these two have a complicated relationship is the understatement of the year! My heart kept breaking for Anniston. She needed Theo in her life and she would take him anyway she could. And while Theo needed Anniston as well, he wasn’t ready for the next step. I will say that Theo was selfish when it came to Anniston. He wouldn’t let himself have her, so no-one else would either. Their relationship was very intense. But I already knew that after reading CIB. In fact, Theo is probably the most intense, possessive, and impatient hero I have ever read.

I’m not going into details because I don’t really need to. This book is the introduction to how Theo and Anniston came to be best friends, then more. Trust me when I say, for a short book, all the “feels” are there. I’m going to admit, that while reading this book, I bit off all my finger nails! I even have bandaids on a couple of fingers. Thanks for that, Kristy, lol. ❤ This book is a must read for all you Theo and Anniston fans. I’d also like to mention that after finishing Pitcher, I started to re-read CIB. I need more Theo!

Amazing Kristy!!

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Jude's Sweet Fire: Savannah Heat Book 1 (Savannah Heat Series)Jude’s Sweet Fire: Savannah Heat Book 1 by Jessica McBrayer

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Who doesn’t love Hockey Romance? This trope is my favorite of the sports genres. Jude’s Sweet Fire is the first book in a brand-new series from author Jessica McBrayer. While this book is sweet and has likable characters, there is also a suspense aspect which gives the book the push it needed not to be boring.

Jude is the captain for the Savannah Heat and Megan is currently a veterinarian. Jude is not the alpha you would expect from a hockey player. I would say his persona is more gentlemanly. He is a loyal, considerate and protective man. Jude loves his family and his attraction to Megan brings his protectiveness to the forefront. This book has some dark moments caused by the suspense going on. I don’t want to give anything away so I really can’t say more about that.

Megan is a sweet woman. She truly loves her job and her heart swells with love when it comes to the animals she cares for. This says a lot about her character. Megan has danger following her but luckily for her, she finds herself receiving the attention from a gorgeous, protective hockey player. And while experiences from her past are telling her to keep to herself when it comes to men and relationships, there is something safe when it comes to Jude in addition to making her heart soar. I will say that Megan was very lucky to have Jude come into her life when he did.

This book is written well and flows nicely. Because this is the first in a series, the author introduces us to quite a few characters. These secondary characters gave the book more depth and has definitely piqued my curiosity as to what is coming next in the series. I’ll definitely be looking out for more.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Synopsis:

If you can’t stand the heat…

Lam Draeger’s deep wounds from the death of his young son and his subsequent divorce were still healing when he was saddled with his running his family’s cattle and rodeo stock ranch and the responsibility of raising his siblings and keeping them out of trouble. His every moment is devoted to running the ranch and business smoothly. He’s had no time to mourn his many losses or try to rebuild his personal life. And romance? Out of the question, no matter how sweet the temptation.

…don’t fall in love in the kitchen

Single mom Gwen Hobbs is right back where she swore she’d never be – cooking in the kitchen at the Draeger ranch just like her mom before her. But since her fiance and the father of her daughters walked out on her, taking all their savings with him, she’s forced to be practical. So she vows to ignore the attraction that hums between her and Lam and to stop dreaming of becoming a chef. But when Lam suggests she audition for a cooking competition, Gwen realizes that not all her dreams are out of reach, and her growing hopes extend far beyond a professionally tricked-out kitchen.

My Review:

Sweet on the Cowboy (The Draegers of Last Stand, Texas Book 1)Sweet on the Cowboy by Sasha Summers

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Both heartwarming and adorable. 5 Stars!

This was my first book by this author. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the story. Both main characters have had a rough patch. If you’ve read the blurb, then you know that Gwen has two adorable twin toddler daughters and a low-life, deadbeat, ex fiancé. After the jerk leaves her with literally nothing, Gwen moves in with her mother and takes over the position of cooking on the ranch that she works and lives on. It’s time for her mother to have a vacation. While Gwen cooks for the large Draeger family, her mother will take advantage of the time she has getting to know her adorable grand-children. Both she and her mother are happy with that arrangement.

But guess who is not happy?

Lam was not thrilled to walk into his kitchen and find a stranger. It doesn’t matter how attractive she is. She does not have his permission to work on his ranch. So you can guess that Lam is not happy with change. But as he gets to know Gwen and her adorable daughters better, the ice around his heart slowly begins to melt. Lam has a heartbreaking story. While you know what happened, the details are revealed over the length of the book. I was glad with that aspect because part of my enjoyment of the book, and how quickly I was turning the pages, was because I wanted to know the whole story.

Gwen and Lam’s relationship grew slowly over the course of the book. It was perfect, believable, and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.

Sasha Summers has a talent for storytelling that will pull you in, keep you engaged, and result in the swoon-worthy, satisfied ending we all look for in our romances. I can’t wait to read about the other Draeger siblings when their books become available. This is definitely an author I look forward to reading more of. I absolutely recommend this book. Another fantastic book from Tule Publishing!

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Now Available! Roommate Duet Series Book Two, Baby Yours by Kennedy Fox! ~ My Review Below Post 👇

The worst day of my life happened when Brandon
died.
We had our entire future mapped out.

Careers, marriage, kids—in that order.

Then the universe threw a curveball and ended it
all.

As I come to terms with everything, I learn I’m
carrying his baby. Now I’m living with his roommate, the guy who’s made my life
a living hell the past two years. Hunter’s now the one to hold me up when all I
want to do is fall.
Knowing my religious parents will never accept
the pregnancy out of wedlock, Hunter offers to be my fake husband. While I
think he’s gone crazy, it’s the only plan that’ll keep them in my life. So I do
whatever it takes to make our relationship believable—kissing, touching, even
letting him hold me when we sleep. The lines are so blurred neither of us want
to admit we’re no longer pretending.

The guilt of what we’re doing eats me alive as I
struggle to deal with my emotions. I push him away, but he pulls me closer,
showing me how he’s always felt.

Just as I begin to follow my heart, I learn
Hunter’s been keeping secrets.

And I’m left to make the hardest decision of my
life…

**This is book 2 in the Hunter & Lennon
duet and must be read after Baby Mine. Recommended for ages 18+**

I saw her first.
Blonde. Gorgeous. Feisty.
I was smitten.
But it didn’t matter because she chose him and he was my best friend and roommate. I’d never be able to compete with that, so I pushed her away instead. It was easy when she lived hours away, and I didn’t have to see her every day, but then she moved in with us.
Now, I’m screwed. To her singing in the shower every morning, dancing in the kitchen while she makes coffee, and doing yoga in our living room, I can’t stop thinking about her in all the wrong ways. She’s not mine and never will be, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting to push her against a wall and claim her mouth.

She’s constantly on me for making messes, bringing chicks home every weekend, and being a smartass when their PDA gets on my nerves. Considering neither of them know how I feel, it’s not fair for the way I act toward them. I should move out so I can get over her for good; however, the selfish part of me can’t let go.

But then the unthinkable happens…
When my best friend dies in a motorcycle accident, the two of us are left to grieve our loss together. Instead of pushing her away, I pull her closer.

Just as we come to terms with our new reality, she finds out she’s pregnant with his baby.
And I’m left to make the hardest decision of my life…

Synopsis:

The worst day of my life happened when Brandon died.
We had our entire future mapped out.
Careers, marriage, kids—in that order.
Then the universe threw a curveball and ended it all.

As I come to terms with everything, I learn I’m carrying his baby. Now I’m living with his roommate, the guy who’s made my life a living hell the past two years. Hunter’s now the one to hold me up when all I want to do is fall.

Knowing my religious parents will never accept the pregnancy out of wedlock, Hunter offers to be my fake husband. While I think he’s gone crazy, it’s the only plan that’ll keep them in my life. So I do whatever it takes to make our relationship believable—kissing, touching, even letting him hold me when we sleep. The lines are so blurred neither of us want to admit we’re no longer pretending.

The guilt of what we’re doing eats me alive as I struggle to deal with my emotions. I push him away, but he pulls me closer, showing me how he’s always felt.

Just as I begin to follow my heart, I learn Hunter’s been keeping secrets.
And I’m left to make the hardest decision of my life…

**This is book 2 in the Hunter & Lennon duet and must be read after Baby Mine. Recommended for ages 18+**

Baby Yours: Hunter & Lennon, #2 (Roommate Duet, #2)Baby Yours: Hunter & Lennon, #2 by Kennedy Fox

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is one of those times where I love the book but not so much the heroine. Hunter saved this entire duet for me. Let me explain. So, you obviously read book one if your here. If not, stop reading now because there are likely spoilers for the first book in my review. As I was saying, I did not like Lennon in the first book; barely tolerated her until the last chapters of the book. Hunter wasn’t perfect either but I was understanding towards his reasons. It could likely be my opinion only, but I absolutely hated what Lennon put Hunter through.

Hunter was a strong character. Saying he is loyal to a fault is an understatement. There were times I was so frustrated with how he let Lennon run hot and cold and didn’t once complain.

So, getting to the cliffhanger at the end of book one. When the book started, I expected the story to continue right at that moment but it didn’t and I did not mind that at all. I wanted these two to have a bit of fun for once and when they got to Utah, they did exactly that. That part of the book was sweet and in my opinion, the moments where Lennon and Hunter’s relationship started to become something more. Unfortunately, Lennon continued her hot and cold behavior with Hunter after they returned home to California and this broke my heart. Of all the heroes I read this year, his character is one of my favorites. Not only was he there for Lennon during all the rough times, but because he wanted to be as close to her as possible he put his own heart through an emotional ringer. I love him for his loyalty, perseverance, and patience, and protectiveness. A less better man would have walked away a long time ago but Hunter kept on hoping and believing that things would work out.

The rest of the book is a slow burn. I appreciated this aspect because like the development of their friendship into more, it had to be a slower pace to be believable. And it was. By the end, I believed in them as a couple. I believed in Hunter and Lennon’s happily-ever-after.

I’ve always enjoyed this author duo’s writing and I will continue to come back for more. The next duet in this series will feature Mason and Sophie. I have been rooting for those two from the start. I can’t wait to see how these two will find there HEA. Knowing these authors, it will not be easy.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you taking the time to read it. 🙂

Synopsis:

This dating experiment is about to go viral…

Jameson
When my eight-year-old son starts asking question about love, I decide to use a magazine article on how to woo a woman to prove, once and for all, that romantic love doesn’t exist. Companionship, habit, mild fondness, sure, but not that thing called love. I have my hypothesis ready and I’m dead set on experimenting on my new neighbor, the single mom who does the weirdest things.
But my experiment goes awry in unexplainable ways…

Lily-Marie
When dating apps fail me spectacularly, I decide to go old school and use a 1950s magazine I dug up at a yard sale to help find Mr. Right.

Fifty Ways to Find a Husband.

Sounds legit.

Problem is, my new neighbor, Mr. Science Professor, keeps blocking my attempts. And keeps losing his shirt. How does a book nerd have so many muscles anyway? Thing is, my kids like his son and we start spending a lot of time together, which is distracting me from my ultimate goal: to find a husband to sweep me off my feet and be a good father to my kids.

Things get comical quick when my best friend records everything in her daily newspaper column. I can’t help but wonder if single moms like me can actually catch a husband. Or will this Mom-Com go viral as an epic train wreck?

📝My Review📝:

Mom-ComMom-Com by Marika Ray

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh, I love this book! I can say I have never had the pleasure of coming across a book like this. Finally, a premise I haven’t ever read! Also, Marika Ray is a new author for me. I will have to check out more from her because this book thoroughly entertained me. So much so that I could not put this book down and read it in one sitting. Even better is there will be another book featuring the heroine’s best friend.

So, I love everything about this book. Every aspect. While yes, it became a little predictable, I did not mind. Especially while I knew something funny was about to happen, I wasn’t sure exactly what is was. There are some totally cringe-worthy moments that forced second hand embarrassment on me and I loved every minute. Unfortunately, because this book was pretty fast-paced, I felt like it was over too soon. I needed more! Both H/h were the epitome of awkward and endearing characters. Even the secondary characters made this book more likable.

Jameson and Lily-Marie were so adorable. I couldn’t stop laughing at their behavior. I can promise you this book is lighthearted and enjoyable. I can also promise you laughter and the most amazing grand gesture. Our hero may be awkward and clueless when it comes to romance but he was truly one of the most endearing characters I have ever had the pleasure of reading about.

I definitely recommend this romantic comedy. It’s a well-written, fast-paced entertaining read!

This is my honest on unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
