Journey back to Neverland, NC with NYT & USA Today Bestselling Author Gina L. Maxwell as she turns your favorite villain into the hero you never knew you needed.

I’m Captain of the Pirates; a villain by design and a loner by nature.

I don’t need anyone. More than that, I don’t want anyone. Especially Officer John Darling who insists on seeing the good in everything, including me. If there was ever any good inside of me, it was snuffed out long ago.

I’ve avoided him for years, but now I need his help to save my brother’s life and take down Fred Croc, the monster from my childhood and my current employer.

Now Darling is undercover in my crew, living in my loft and forever working out shirtless. Taking Croc’s operation down from the inside is dangerous as hell, but Darling’s probing gaze and the natural way he defers to my dominant side might just be the end of me.

But I’ve lived in the dark for too long, and no amount of light can save me. Not even one as bright as Johnathan Darling.

I’m a Task Force Officer with the FBI; a protector of the innocent and a man in love with a villain.

Before I was even old enough to understand it, I had a crush on the broody teen called Captain Hook, following him around like a puppy and hoping he’d show me the slightest bit of attention.

He never did, though, not for years. Not until I became his only viable option for getting his crew member back and throwing Croc behind bars. Now he can’t ignore me, and he can’t hide the desire burning in his eyes when I sink to my knees, eager to serve my Captain however he needs.

But secrets are hard to keep in close quarters, and when I discover the darkness lurking in his past, eradicating the evil in Neverland is no longer my only mission. Come hell or high water, I’ll make Hook see that he’s never been the villain of this story…he’s the hero.

*Trigger Warning for readers sensitive to characters with sexual assault in their pasts. Please read the Author’s Note in the beginning of the book for more details.

📝My Review📝: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Hook (Neverland #2)Hook by Gina L. Maxwell

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hook by Gina Maxwell was a very dark, intense and disturbing read. I will warn you….. for those of you who are triggered by child abuse of a sexual nature you may want to be extra cautious. While there is no current abuse, there are flashbacks. That said, the flashbacks are not all explicitly graphic, however the author is very talented at painting the picture regardless. There will be no mistaking what you’re reading about.

I praise Gina Maxwell for the boundaries she crosses in her writing. These details are not easy to read, so I know that are even that much more difficult to write. that being said, I read a review copy but I understand in the original finished copy has an alternate chapter.

This book brought forth many emotions the most prominent being anger, and heartbreak. So, you are probably wondering why I read such a book? Life isn’t always painted with blue skies and butterflies. Sometimes we need reminders that this world isn’t perfect. Books like Hook bring that reality into perspective. And when we are given a beautifully written, believable happy ending our feeling of joy and elation will be that much more appreciated. I praise this author for writing realistic and believable text.

Hook is one of my favorite MM romances. Hook was a character whose whole purpose in life was to protect those around him. No matter how high and despicable the cost. Hook is a criminal by trade but not by choice. He is careful not to let people too close knowing the end will result in more despair for him and those he loves.

John Darling had a connection with Hook since they were children. But it wasn’t until more than a decade later these two amazing men would be able to explore a relationship, albeit extremely carefully. I don’t want to give any of the story away. This is a book you’ll want to read without any spoilers. I don’t even want to comment on the last chapter; the ending. I will say that while I was pleased how things are going well for John and Hook, I am anxious for the next book in this series to assure me they are still going strong.

Hook is book two in Gina L. Maxwell’s Neverland series. The first book titled, Pan is Peter and Wendy’s story. It is also where we learn the dynamic of the Lost Boys, Hook and his pirates and the evil that is Fred Croc. Hook is a standalone but I think you’ll get more out of the story if you read Pan as well.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it.

Synopsis:  A Cowboy Under the Mistletoe

‘Tis the season for starting over for one military man turned cowboy in this new novel by the New York Times bestselling author of The Cowboy and His Baby.

Former Navy master-at-arms Jason Clements is down on his luck and calling in one last favor. His cousin has secured him a job opportunity as a cowboy working at Price Ranch in Wyoming. Too bad Jason has never even saddled a horse. If he can keep this job without his PTSD getting in the way, it’ll be a Christmas miracle.

Local busybody Sage Cooper loves Painted Barrel something fierce, but it’s time for her to move on. Since her father passed away, the family ranch feels too big for just her, and there’s no chance of finding a husband in this small town. To the rest of the world, she’s just another local fixture, known for her closet full of ugly Christmas sweaters and being perpetually single.

It isn’t until Jason shows up in desperate need of a cowboy crash course that Sage discovers a tall, dark, and handsome reason to stick around. And with the holidays coming up, Sage is in need of a date for a special event—maybe they’ll turn out to be each other’s best Christmas present.

A Cowboy Under the MistletoeA Cowboy Under the Mistletoe by Jessica Clare

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh, I loved this book so much!
Why haven’t I read this author before now?
If I could give this book more than five stars, I certainly would. This author wrote in a way that tugged every one of my heartstrings. At some point we all say, “every now and then a certain book will come along and once you finish, you are left will long sigh, a huge smile and a feeling like you’ve been awarded something special,” Well that was A Cowboy Under The Mistletoe for me. A truly endearing, heartwarming, poignant story. I am absolutely going to put time aside and read more from Jessica Clare.

Sage and Jason…..
This is a story that you’ll need to experience each emotion your own, so I’m not going to tell you anything that will take away from that. Sorry, no spoilers.

Sage grew up in a small Wyoming town called Painted Barrel. While she is friends with everyone in town, Sage still feels very much alone. Sage made a decision that once the Spring rolled around, she would sell her ranch and move on to a larger town where she can start over and hopefully find love. With her longtime crush (never noticing her for more than his friend) getting married, Sage realizes she needs a change. It’s time.

Jason Clements has a story. An endearingly, heartbreaking story. He desperately wants to fit in, wants to finally call someplace home rather than jumping around from job to job. Employment is something Jason is struggling with due to his PTSD. While Sage had me sad for her loneliness, Jason’s story had my heart bleeding. That said, I really appreciated how the author wrote his struggles so I could experience them with him. I was sad when he was sad. When Jason was afraid, I was scared with him. And when he found love, I was teary-eyed, not to mention, relieved.

This book was so perfect for a Christmas romance.

I don’t want to say anything more other than this is a must read and I recommend you check it out when it releases mid-October. This book will leave you truly feeling warm and exudes that special feeling that is in the air around the holiday season. A Cowboy Under The Mistletoe has all the feels, and then some.

This is my honest and unbiased opinion. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Pretty things don’t distract me. In my line of work, a distraction will get you caught. Or in my case, blackmailed. But this isn’t the only time I’ve been hustled, and soon Connor Hayes will learn that men are only pawns in my end game. I don’t love. I hate. Even a pretty boy like him.

Two wrongs don’t make a right. Except when they are five-foot-seven and hotter than my exhaust pipe. So, I blackmailed her. It was either that or turn her in. And if anyone was going to put her in handcuffs, it was going to be me. Bianca Morgan stole the only woman I’ve ever loved. It’s only fair she replace her.

Drifter (Commander in Briefs #3)Drifter by Kristy Marie

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Stars from page one! This is one of my favorite books, ever! Thank you Kristy for giving us the perfection that is Connor Hayes!

When I met all these amazing veterans in the first book, Commander In Briefs, I couldn’t wait to read each of their stories. Drifter is book three and I can honestly say my favorite so far. I say so far because each book is better than the last.

Over a year ago, a book friend (That’s you Jessica) ask me to read for this author. Her name is Kristy Marie and she was new. Well after reading Commander In Briefs, I would have never guessed she was a new author. Her writing was on point, descriptive and every page was engaging. Her characters were all alphas in need of some emotional healing. Their stories are heart breaking. But they get a lot of support from secondary characters. That said, this book, as well as the others, have all the feels. But don’t worry because there is humor too. A lot in fact, which is another aspect of this author’s writing that I loved.

Connor Hayes is amazing. He is sexy, cocky and adorable. In addition, Connor is protective, loyal and dealing with his own emotional demons. Bianca was a perfect match for Connor. From the first pages, I liked her despite what she was planning to do. Bianca and Conner’s relationship grew slowly. While Conner knew Bianca had some dark issues she herself had to deal with, he believed her to be a kindred spirit and he wanted to know everything about her. Connor was patient and kind and a gentleman. He was determined to earn her trust. Gosh I love him so much! He is my favorite hero from this series so far. But alas, there are still several more vets to get their healing.

There is some suspense, angst, and sad moments. But as I mentioned, there is humor to balance it all out. Kristy Marie has quickly moved to the top ten of my favorite authors list. If you have yet to read any of her books, I highly recommend you do. All the books in this series are standalones, but I suggest you read them in order to have an even greater reading experience.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

There’s a girl asleep by my bed. Her name’s Sophie and she’s the love of my life.
She doesn’t know that. I’ve never told her, nor given her any clues. I’ve been careful. I’ve been diligent. I’ve been the biggest asshole the world has seen.
To her. And to everyone.
But after I fell sick, she came back and she’s still here. I don’t know why, if it means anything, what she wants from me.
I know I want everything from her but I can’t ask for it.
Because I fucked up, I’m probably dying, and it’s too late for second chances… right?

This short novel is a standalone story in the Wild Men world (companion to Dark Child), and will release in October as part of the Cards of Love 2018 series.

StrengthStrength by Jo Raven

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Stars
Oh wow! This was another amazing book by one of my favorite authors. Jo Raven has a talent for writing that is so unique. No other author I have read, tortures their heroes like she does. I can’t tell you how frustrating it is to watch a character suffer and be able to do nothing but read faster to get to the HEA. Jo raven writes from the heart and amazes me constantly.

If you’ve read Dark Child then you know of Griffin and Sophie. And while you do not have to read that book prior to Strength, I recommend you do because there are quite a few mentions that might make the book even more enjoyable for you.

Griffin is going through dark times. Not only does he suffer from PTSD, there is an issue with his health. My heart broke for this man over and over. In addition to his self-loathing, Griffin believes himself unworthy of Sophie’s love. Sophie was an amazing, strong character. She was just what Griff needed to help him heal. Sophie would teach this tortured man how to love as well.

I can go on but that would mean I’d have to give you details and since I refuse to ruin this book for you, you will have to read it on your own. I promise if you are already a fan of Jo’s, she won’t let you down. And if you haven’t read anything by her yet, I absolutely recommend that you do!

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

My name is Brecklyn Brannon, and I’m not who I claim to be.
A year ago, I packed up my promising life in the city for a man I saw only once.
Accepting a temporary job with Cade and four blazing hot veterans should have been my way in.
Except, Cade acts like he would rather be tortured than speak to me.
He can resist all he wants, but I made a promise that I intend to keep.
Even if it costs me everything.

I’ve watched her for over a year.
There’s something about her that seems familiar… but now that she’s living here for two weeks, I could care less what it is.
I just want her gone.
Breck is temptation personified, and some lines can’t be crossed.
I’m Major Cade Jameson, and I made a promise, too.
One that I can’t break.
No matter how hard IT gets.

My Review:

Gorgeous (Commander in Briefs #2)Gorgeous by Kristy Marie

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Stars…..

Of all the new releases I’ve read this year, Gorgeous by Kristy Marie was my most anticipated. If you’ve read book one in this series, then you already know why I was impatient for Cade’s story. This book is perfectly written with a steady flow. I experienced all the feels. While I would not call this book romantic comedy, there were many, many moments during my reading where I laughed out loud. When I wasn’t laughing, I was smiling. You can’t help but love each and every character. I don’t know how I am going to survive waiting for Hayes’s book.

Cade is a former marine suffering with the trauma of PTSD and guilt. His guilt was so consuming, it nearly killed him until he was saved by Anniston (Commander In Briefs, Anniston and Theo’s book). While he very slowly began to heal, you knew it would not be quick; he had a long way to go. Cade believes he deserves nothing in life that could bring him joy. It is only when Breck comes into his life that his walls start to come down. She would be his savior; he would be her family. Truly, the relationship that slowly grew between Cade and Break was beautiful to watch. I was so engrossed in this book, this author did such an amazing job of keeping me engaged. I was right there with Cade and Breck. Did Cade and Breck have an easy time? No! There is angst, there are secrets and there is true heartbreak. I won’t go into any details, you will have to read this amazing book for yourself. But I promise you an amazingly happy ending.

If you want to make this book an even better reading experience, I recommend to read book one, Commander In Briefs as well. I promise you won’t be sorry.

I’ll say it again, I absolutely can’t wait to read the next book in this series!

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
