Isabelle “Izzy” Harmon is home again. Literally. After landing her first teaching gig, Izzy has found herself sleeping in her old room on an ancient twin bed that squeaks whenever she moves. Sure, she loves Honeywell, Iowa but part of her wanted to move to civilization rather than return to her old life after graduating from college. Farm life is in her blood but so is the man who lives next door. It’s too bad he never saw her as more than his best friend’s little sister.
It’s true what they say… distance makes the heart grow fonder and four years away did nothing to quell the way Izzy’s heart rate doubles whenever he’s nearby. She hoped to get over it, but things don’t always work out the way we hope.

Nashville “Nash” Watson never left. His goal of playing baseball in the majors flew out the window the second he found out he was going to be a father. No regrets, though, because Nash figured he’d return to Honeywell, Iowa to farm his family’s land. It was the only thing he knew for sure. Well, that and he’s never falling for another woman again. Ever.

Never say never, Nash.

Due to sexual content and adult themes, this book is suitable for readers 18+.

My 📝Review📝: 🌟🌟🌟🌟

FarmBoyFarmBoy by Kayt Miller

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

For a novella, this book has a lot of feels. And when it was over, I found myself disappointed that this book wasn’t longer. That said, since I’ve been sick the past three weeks with my head dizzy most hours of the day, it actually was the perfect length for me. This is an author whose name I have come across many times but haven’t read. I’m so glad I read her. I will be looking back at her catalog for more.

It isn’t easy writing a novel; it’s even more difficult to write a short novella and put in it everything that a reader desires. For me, Farmboy had a good amount of angst, complex characters, and an entertaining story. Notice how I said, ‘complex characters’ and not likable ones? While I adored Izzy and Andi, Nash was a whole other story. He was definitely hard to like throughout much of the book for me. Of course, I inferred he would end up being the perfect hero, and was not disappointed when he let his walls down. He was truly romantic and loving, protective and sweet as well as sexy. I couldn’t help but love him.

I am not going into details, especially since this story is short and fast paced. I don’t want to spoil anything. I will tell you that there is plenty to keep you engaged; turning pages. If I haven’t been sick, I could have definitely devoured this in one setting. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick read that has character development, angst, and a believable love story.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

NEW RELEASE: Hook (A Neverland Novel Book Two) By Gina L. Maxwell is Available Now!

Add to Goodreads

Journey back to Neverland, NC with NYT & USA Today Bestselling Author Gina L. Maxwell as she turns your favorite villain into the hero you never knew you needed.

I’m Captain of the Pirates; a villain by design and a loner by nature.

I don’t need anyone. More than that, I don’t want anyone. Especially Officer John Darling who insists on seeing the good in everything, including me. If there was ever any good inside of me, it was snuffed out long ago.

I’ve avoided him for years, but now I need his help to save my brother’s life and take down Fred Croc, the monster from my childhood and my current employer.

Now Darling is undercover in my crew, living in my loft and forever working out shirtless. Taking Croc’s operation down from the inside is dangerous as hell, but Darling’s probing gaze and the natural way he defers to my dominant side might just be the end of me.

But I’ve lived in the dark for too long, and no amount of light can save me. Not even one as bright as Johnathan Darling.

I’m a Task Force Officer with the FBI; a protector of the innocent and a man in love with a villain.

Before I was even old enough to understand it, I had a crush on the broody teen called Captain Hook, following him around like a puppy and hoping he’d show me the slightest bit of attention.

He never did, though, not for years. Not until I became his only viable option for getting his crew member back and throwing Croc behind bars. Now he can’t ignore me, and he can’t hide the desire burning in his eyes when I sink to my knees, eager to serve my Captain however he needs.

But secrets are hard to keep in close quarters, and when I discover the darkness lurking in his past, eradicating the evil in Neverland is no longer my only mission. Come hell or high water, I’ll make Hook see that he’s never been the villain of this story…he’s the hero.

From NYT and USA Today bestselling author, Gina L. Maxwell, comes a brand-new series with a fresh twist on an old classic.

Once upon a time, in Neverland, North Carolina–I fell in love.

I was twelve when Peter first climbed up to my balcony.
Thirteen when I sneaked out to see him at the School for Lost Boys.
Seventeen when his touch made me fly,
And eighteen when his words made me cry.

We were magnetic, drawn to each other from that very first night, and what I thought would be forever. But when it came time for me to leave, he wouldn’t come with, soI left town with a map for my future and a shattered heart.

Ten years later, I’ve returned to Neverland, hoping to find a man in place of the boy.

Peter was partially right, growing up is no fun. After quitting my fancy career that sucked the magic out of life, I’m now organizing the fundraiser of the year. In a move that could make or break the event and my new company, I’ve hired Peter, master mechanic and owner of LB Automotive, to help me pull this off–trusting him to rebuild a classic car for the auction that could help hundreds of foster kids in need.

I thought I was prepared, but the boy who refused to leave is now a man hell-bent on getting me to stay, and as sparks fly between us, that undeniable fire flares back to life, deeper and hotter than ever.

But that ripped body doesn’t mean Peter’s matured enough to make us or this event work, and not everyone in Neverland is happy about my return.

Not every wound heals.
Not every heart can be fixed.
Not every boy grows up.

And after all this time, the love we found might be lost to us again…this time, forever.

Pan is an adult contemporary romance retelling of Peter Pan, complete with Wendy, Hook, Tink, and all the Lost Boys. There are no fantasy elements in this world, other than the “magic” that happens between the sheets. 😉

Gina L. Maxwell is a full-time writer, wife, and mother living in the upper Midwest, despite her scathing hatred of snow and cold weather. An avid romance novel addict, she began writing as an alternate way of enjoying the romance stories she loves to read. Her debut novel, Seducing Cinderella, hit both the USA Today and the New York Times bestseller lists in less than four weeks, and she’s been living her newfound dream ever since.

When she’s not reading or writing steamy romance novels, she spends her time losing at games to her high school sweetheart, hanging out with their adult teenagers as they learn to fly on their own, and dreaming of her move to someplace warm once they finally do.

She’s glitz and glam—He’s down home and country, but they’re about to find out that being out of each others’ league has nothing to do with money.

Since a young age, Marissa has played a part in front of the camera. She’s got it all—top model status, perfect, high profile marriage, millions of followers, and the world at her fingertips. Too bad it’s all a lie—and comes crashing down so publicly her only choice is to get out of LA before the media sharks devour her.

The last thing she expects to find while stashed away in the Smokies is a bacon-loving, warm, funny, man named Mick—and he’s everything Marissa isn’t—he’s real. Too bad she can’t act on her growing feelings for him. He’s too sweet, too genuine, and everything about her life is as fake as the smile she puts on when she goes back to LA.

But the money, house, cars, and fame are nothing, not compared to the love of a real man and the opportunity to have the truest thing she’s ever felt become her reality. . .

In a small town, there’s nothing worse than going from having a top sales job to being a stock boy at the local mart—and that’s exactly what Mick gets to face every day. As if his personal insecurities aren’t enough, now he faces the fact he’s stuck with little to no chance to ever get where he wants to be—stable enough for a family.

And then a woman too good to be true comes into his town, and he can’t help but want those things even more—with her. A hotshot model from LA, but Mick doesn’t care about any of that, all that matters is that she’s caring, funny, and the most beautiful soul he’s ever seen. . . but she can’t see herself that way.

When she goes back to LA to deal with her life, Mick has to face who she is in her world, and the jealousy and doubt threaten to tear him apart. Deep down, he knows they have something real, but is it enough for her to love a man that is the opposite of everything she’s ever had?

📝My Review📝: 🌟🌟🌟

Out of my League (Love in the Smokies Book 2)Out of my League by C.J. Allison

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

When I read the blurb for this book, I was very interested to read it. This would be the first book that I came across with the hero being not physically perfect. I would like to read more books like this, but I’ll be honest and say I am not aware of any. That said, anyone reading this review that knows of other books with a hero who does not have perfectly sculpted abs, bulging biceps and pecs in addition to a well-rounded, tight behind, please let me know.

As excited as I was to dig into Out Of My League, I did not love it. Honestly, there were a lot of issues for me. We all know that instalove in a romance can be sweet. And most times, hard to believe or relate to. I get that, and am usually ok with it. But the instant attraction between Marissa and Mick was not believable. It had nothing to do with Marissa being a super model and Mick an overweight, down-to-earth southern boy. Part of what I was looking forward to in this book was watching their relationship grow. It never grew, their relationship just leapt to love. In addition, there was no angst, no real plot either. Marissa was a super model who desperately wanted a change for her life going forward. So she decided to change the course of her professional career. Marissa met Mick through her brother while getting away from the limelight for a couple of weeks.

Mick was a simple man. He was generous and protective and loves bacon as you will discover as the author states this fact constantly. Working a job as a stock clerk in Walmart was not where he thought he’d be at this stage in his life. But circumstances arise and his Walmart job was the result. I will say that I liked most everything about Mick. I did like Marissa as well. Liking the H/h was not where my disappointment fell. There was potential for this to be a really good book. Unfortunately, the writing style threw me off. The characters constantly changed subject and I was having to back read to see if I missed something. This being my first book by this author, I don’t know her writing so this book could just be a one off. that said, I would definitely like to read the first book in this series and see if there is a difference in the writing. So, while I didn’t hate this book, I didn’t love it and because of the potential I felt was there, I will give this author another go.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it.

A hot, small town, opposites attract rom com!

Kennedy Landry and Bennett Baxter’s story!

He wears suits and ties. He’ll one day inherit a fortune. He has a law degree. He shines his shoes, for God’s sake. What is she doing attracted to a guy like him? But she is. She so is.

She drives air boats on the bayou, drinks and cusses, and gives city boys in suits a hard time just for fun. Why can’t he get her out of his mind? But he can’t. He definitely can’t.

A weekend trip to Savannah for a fancy-schmancy party with his highfalutin family is the surefire way to prove that they have nothing in common but intense chemistry. And to maybe scratch this I’ve-never-wanted-anyone-like-I-want-you itch once or twice. Or five times.

But it takes only about twenty-four hours for the bayou girl and the city boy to figure out that they don’t really know much at all–about each other, or about themselves. And figuring all of this out is going to be downright crazy.

📝My Review📝: 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Crazy Rich Cajuns (Boys of the Bayou, #4)Crazy Rich Cajuns by Erin Nicholas

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the fourth book in the Boys Of The Bayou series by Erin Nicholas. Since I read the previous three books in the series, I can say with honesty that I was eager and impatient to finally read about Kennedy and Baxter. Unfortunately, this book wasn’t as good as the others and I admit to being slightly disappointed at the feeling that this book was rushed; as if it didn’t have the same care that the author took for the previous ones. No, that said, I did not hate it. Obviously, I gave this book four stars for a good reason. The secondary characters are what I enjoyed the most. As always, the Landrys are a heartwarming, humorous bunch of fun-loving individuals. Not to mention that their loyalty to family and friends is truly beautiful. In addition, I was enthralled and entertained by them.

Kennedy and Bennett meet in book two, Sweet Home Louisiana, which is Owen and Maddie’s great love story of second chances. Kennedy was sassy and a thorn in Bennett’s side. In fact, they both agitated each other. Love/hate at its best! Their banter quickly turn to outspoken, dirty talking. And then, eventually more. I don’t want to give away the story, so you’ll have to see for yourself what these two get up to.

An aspect I did very much like was that despite their insults toward each other, there was more than not, respect and admiration. Towards the last chapters, the story took a bit of a turn that I didn’t expect. Kennedy ended up being someone I perceived as intelligent. Sadly, no, I always thought her character was a bit immature and churlish. Honestly, I wasn’t a huge fan of her outspoken, crass comments and thought her to be a brat. I’m glad the author showed me what Kennedy is truly capable of. It was a nice surprise.

So, in a nut shell, this trope is about how opposites attract. Both Kennedy and Bennett connected on a level I never expected. I was satisfied with their happy ending.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it.

She’d like nothing more than to strangle him, if she wasn’t so busy thinking about kissing him.

Matt Walker’s best hope of getting back in the saddle is charming Jessica into teaching him ballet. He needs to get back on the bronc…even if he has to get there in tights. Cowboys Need Not ApplyCowboys Need Not Apply by Robert Tate Miller

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was my first book by Robert Tate Miller. I enjoyed it and would like to read more from this author. I describe this book as a low angst, clean romance. The story was entertaining and the characters were fun and witty, with the exception of Jessica, one of the protagonists. Jessica was not the friendliest. I would describe her as standoffish and pretentious. She is a ballerina brought up in a wealthy household so this has shaped her character. I was not her biggest fan for most of the book however, I appreciated how her character grew and developed into someone I could like as the story moved forward.

Matt was fun and witty, if not stubborn, from the beginning. While he was the complete opposite of Jessica in personality, they had good chemistry and I enjoyed watching their relationship develop. If I’m honest, which I am, Matt was the true hero of the book. It was Matt that helped me to enjoy this story. As I mentioned earlier, Jessica was not very personable as well as difficult to like. But by the end my opinion changed.

Briefly, I’ll tell you that both Matt and Jessica injured themselves doing what they each loved. Both ended up with similar knee injuries and at the same rehabilitation center. It was here they first meet. I won’t go into details because you should experience their relationship without any spoilers from me. While their friendship started off slowly, I enjoyed watching them together. Each had something to teach the other and this helped grow appreciation for their respective careers and what shaped them to be the people they are.

There were times, I wondered how Matt and Jessica would work in the end. They both had completely different personalities; completely different lives. In addition, they lived 2,000 miles from each other. Thankfully, though, they did work it out in the sweetest happily-ever-after.

As I understand it, this trope was new to this author. I want to say, I think he did a great job and I would love to read more, especially regarding cowboys. 😉

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Alaska’s matchmaking moose, Bullwinkle, has his sights set on a most unlikely pair. Holly Noelle Snow loves Christmas so much she could be one of Santa’s elves, and Reese Sutton might as well be Scrooge. But there is no way BW will allow these two to ruin his perfect track record. Even if he has to bind them together with Christmas lights.

Police Chief Reese Sutton is haunted by his Christmas past, and he’s determined not to fall for Holly, the sexy shop owner of Mooseletoe, who promises to be as naughty as she is nice.
While Sutton’s kisses burn Holly up, his bah humbug attitude leaves her cold, resurrecting her abandonment issues that she believed had been laid to rest.

It will take a Christmas miracle, or one very persistent moose, for these two opposites to risk falling in love with each other.

5 Stars!
What a fun book! It was silly and sweet and even sexy. Tiffinie Helmer is a new author for me. Moostletoe is my very first book by this author. Truthfully, I don’t know if I would have come across this author if it wasn’t for a free promotion included in an email I received. I am so happy I got to read this fantastical, whimsical and humorous romance.

Noelle reminds me of myself. If I could pick up my life, move to Alaska and sell Christmas all year round, I would. At least give it a try because I’m not so confident I’d survive the short days and freezing temperatures. Still, I think the whole premise of this book was adorable. In addition, the characters added depth and a ton of humor. Especially BW, lol.

Reese has a bad attitude toward the holidays. His churlish nature spills over into his relationships. Or should I say, lack of? Reese is not a commitment guy. Not anymore, at least. Will two complete opposites find warmth and love with each other? Or will past insecurities leave them cold and lonely? One of my favorite moments in this book happens at the. What an amazing gesture by Reese! I can’t say more but you’ll just love it as well.

If you have room for one more Christmas romance on your TBR’s, I absolutely recommend you check this book out. I will certainly be reading more from this author. I just adored this wonderful book!

This is my honest review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

My Review:

Takedown (Fighting Love #3)Takedown by Nikki Ash

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Stars…..

Every book I read by Nikki Ash becomes my favorite! That’s right! Takedown is my newest favorite. But of course I know that will change when I read another of her amazing books. I’m so happy, that while I have read several of this author’s books, there are some I haven’t. I can’t wait to for the opportunity to read them. Nikki Ash has an amazing talent for writing a story that not only tugs at your heartstrings, but brings you sexiness, romance, angst, vulnerability and the sweetest of happily-ever-afters. Totally swoon-worthy endings!

Mason and Mila…..
We’ve met both these characters in previous titles. I liked them then and I love them now. Both Mila and Mason have different personalities. Mila is a single mom looking for a happily-ever-after. While she is attracted to Mason, that’s all it can be because he is definitely not “night in shining armor” material.

Or is he?

Mason doesn’t want to depend on anyone. And he most definitely doesn’t want anyone depending on him. He is not looking for a relationship, ever. He will never put himself in a position where someone would have to count on him. In my honest opinion, Mason was way too hard on himself. My heart ached for him. I want to add right here that Mason had his faults but I found him to be a loving, caring, loyal man. He was a gentlemen in every sense. The author is amazing at giving us not only Mila, but Mason’s perspective. I can’t tell you how much better this story was, how full of depth and complexity I found Mason’s character to be, having had a front seat to his thoughts. I won’t go into details because bits and pieces of Mason’s past are revealed throughout the entire book. And I loved that. I was too busy being engaged in the story to worry about the angsty parts. Yeah, I’m not a huge fan of angst but I know that a great book will have a perfect balance of it. Takedown was perfect in that aspect.

In addition to a great story, we also get to visit with past friends from previous books. There are always friends and family present on the pages. This was another favorite for me. I recommend you check out the “Fighting For Love” series. While each book can definitely read as a standalone, you will enjoy the experience twice as much if you can read them in order. Nikki’s writing pace is smooth and steady so you can devour these books in no time at all.

As always, I look forward to reading more by this author.
This is my honest and unbiased opinion. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

A modern way of finding love. One deserted island of luxury. Two people. Three out cards. And a whole lot of possibilities.

Melinda takes the advice of her best friend, Chris. She signs up to a new dating service that pairs you statistically to the one you’re supposed to love. Finding it — love that is — using the more conventional methods, has not been a successful venture for Mindy, and with her biological clock ticking, she uses a more desperate method and takes the plunge into a possible happily ever after.

The thing is, when she boards the boat to a secret location, she doesn’t realise the man waiting for her is someone she’s previously met.

Chance encounters occur more frequently than we realise. Being blind to them is part of a bustling world. But, being faced with them can lead to a hilarious three weeks between two opposites who might just attract.

My Review:

That GuyThat Guy by Belle Brooks

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Can I just die of embarrassment now? This book was not only hysterically funny but I literally experienced second-hand embarrassment throughout nearly the whole novel. Oh. My. God! Could a heroine be more prone to bad luck and mortifying situations than Melinda?

Melinda is living her life, just going through the motions. She’s getting her bills paid while at a job that she hates. Something in her recent past has caused her life and goals to take a 180 degree turn. She is not doing the job she was meant to do. She is not happy in her current circumstances. Unfortunately extremely low self-esteem only adds to her misery. The only bright sides to her life are her sweet cat and her outrageously funny, witty, sassy gay best friend Chris. Chris is another very positive aspect of this book. He was a complete scene stealer and I adored him.

When I first read the blurb for this book, I was intrigued. I knew it would be something I would love reading. However, the blurb says that once Melinda gets to the island, the comedy happens. Not true! I was laughing from the first pages; way before the island. The author does a great job with monologue and I felt like I was inside Melinda’s head. Hence the reason I was embarrassed right along with her.

There are several characters on the pages bringing more depth and complexity to the storyline helping to add some seriousness to the premise. While I assumed I knew what was happening, I was repeatedly surprised. Also, I like that the author took liberties with boundaries and blurred some lines that other authors haven’t. I don’t want to spoil anything for you because that would just ruin this multi-entertaining book. You truly need to experience Melinda on your own. There are some cringe-worthy moments, lol!

Arlie is the hero. And while I truly wish the author gave us his perspective as well as Melinda’s, I still found I could connect with him. I’ll be honest, for me when a book only has a single perspective from the heroine, I am disappointed more times than not and have been known to pass on books written that way. I truly need to be inside both the H/h minds while reading so I can connect, relate and understand the characters better. I hate not being sure about things like sincerity and other emotions. That said, this author did a good job with helping me connect to Arlie, however I do wish I had that proverbial front seat to his thoughts when Melinda was having her “moments.”

This book is not only funny. There is romance and a beautiful island. There are great secondary characters. I was very entertained by this book and look forward to reading more from this author.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
