We barely knew each other back then. What kind of chance do we have now?
Twenty plus years ago, I shared a magical, tragic kiss with my secret crush. Silver was every girl’s dream–and I was a socially awkward rich girl. We lived on different sides of town and ran in totally different crowds. When we bumped into each other that fateful night, no words were spoken–our souls knew who we were to one another. But life rolled on and off to college we both went. Never to see each other again.
Until now.
When Silver steps back into my life unexpectedly, my world stops. His looks have only intensified over the years, and when he says my name “Gin,” for the first time again… I melt.
Is my dream coming to life for the second time?
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
First, I want to tell you that I was on the fence between four or five stars. This book was written beautifully. Every word set the stage for great dialogue and the monologue gave me the perfect picture. I was there! I love being “in” the book, watching things unfold up close and personal. We all have heard of the expression, “fly on the wall.” Well, I felt like one. In addition, this is my first book by A.E. Gamrat. Though I have seen this author’s name many times, I never read one of her books. Yay for me to find a new author!
Silver and Ginny…..
These two, now forty-somethings, knew each other when they were in their late teens. Both had a crush on the other but circumstances kept them from doing anything about it. But they did have one moment that neither one has ever forgotten. Ginny went off to college they never saw each other again. Both living lives that could have been better. Almost thirty years later, they meet by chance and both realize in that moment that they wished they were more than the barely friends they were. While Ginny was free of her ex-husband and living on her own, she began to find herself; the woman she was always meant to be. I don’t want to give away too many details as you will want to experience these characters on your own. But I will say that at first, I wasn’t sure of my feelings for her. I know she went through a less than stellar marriage but she came off a bit winey and a little too independent. Of course, I understand the reasons for that having read the book but still, it made me a bit critical of her. After she reconnected with Silver, I truly worried, because of how she wanted to be on her own, that she might break his heart. But then as you read on, you’ll see that Ginny has many insecurities that Silver will have to help her overcome.
Silver is one of my all-time favorite 2020 heroes! He had such an amazing, lovable personality. Silver was determined that Ginny would not get away from him a second time, status be damned. As much as Silver was determined, he was vulnerable. Hence the reason I was afraid he’d unintentionally end up with a broken heart if he didn’t tread carefully.
Even though the chemistry and attraction was immediate, both Ginny and Silver’s relationship developed very slowly. And while I wished it would move a bit quicker, in the end I was glad that it didn’t. This book has so many realistic qualities and relatable moments for me. My strong connection was to Silver. If he was a woman, he would be me.
There are a great deal many secondary characters in Silver. Ginny has two amazing friends that I can’t help but to wish a happy ending for. Maybe one day in the future we’ll get to read about them. This book is one I definitely recommend to my friends.
This is my honest and unbiased opinion. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Pelvic Flaws Synopsis:
Pelvic Flaws, one woman’s struggle with wet knickers and sweaty boobs.
When one sneeze can ruin your day.
I’m Katie Grainger, I’m 45 years old, a divorced mother of three, slightly annoying at times, but always loveable, kids and I can wet myself at the drop of hat. Actually, it’s more like a sneeze or a cough than a drop of a hat, but whatever the reason, let’s just say I am forever grateful for the invention of the ultra-thin panty pad.
Do I have regrets in my life?
Yes, I do. I regret that my ex-husband, Carl, and I didn’t realise we’d grown apart sooner. I regret having a perm in 1993 – I looked like Roly the dog from Eastenders. I regret not trying more online dating when I first got divorced and I regret that my youngest, Charlie, feels torn between pleasing me and his dad. What I don’t regret is my bag breaking and spilling everything over the pizza place floor, the night Dex Michaels was in there ordering a 9inch meat feast.
Pelvic Flaws is the story of one woman’s struggle with hot sweats, mood swings and perilously poor pelvic floor muscles. It’s the story of Dex, who thinks all those things about Katie are funny and adorable. It’s the story of a romance that could turn into something big. It’s the story of what might be the love affair of the century, potentially being ruined by the baggage that neither of them knew existed.
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
5 Stars!
One of the best romcoms I’ve ever read! EVER! What a delightfully funny and heartwarming story. I connected with this book AND Katie in so many ways. I couldn’t stop laughing. If you love romcoms, I swear you will not be disappointed if you chose to read Pelvic Flaws. I can truly tell you that you are missing out if you don’t check out this book. The author is incredibly talented with writing comedy, the pace was fast and when I turned the last page, I realized I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to Katie, Dex and all the entertaining, secondary characters.
Katie is a divorced mother of three, dealing with the changes of being single like a champ. While she was disappointed that her marriage didn’t last, she wasn’t heartbroken. Katie is also dealing with all the things women deal with at her age. Being in her late forties, Katie is fairly content with her life. The truth is, falling in love again isn’t even on her radar. I absolutely adored Katie and completely understood what she was going through. As a woman around Katie’s age, I totally sympathize with her.
When Katie meets Dex for the first time, it’s because she drops her purse on the floor of a local pizzeria and the embarrassing contents roll under the table where Dex is seated. Dex was a great hero. After helping Katie retrieve her unmentionables, he knows immediately that she is different from most of the women he knows. Katie is a breath of fresh air with a great sense of humor.
Between Dex and Katie, I couldn’t stop laughing. He was such a gentleman at the times he could have unintentionally hurt her feelings. Of course, when they meet again, Katie is in a situation. Dex comes to her rescue and from that point on, they slowly build a relationship. Katie is wary to move too fast because she has her kids to think about. Of course, Dex is hard to resist.
This book has everything. Fun, humor, plenty of sexy times and even some surprises that turned out to be very serious. I won’t elaborate because you should read this book for yourself. I can say, just sitting here writing this review, I want to reread this book right now. I truly loved it that much!
This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it! 🙂

Always the baker, never the bride…
Olivia James has always been happy running a tea shop and bakery in the Cotswold village of Wychwood-on-Lea, and helping her friends find their happily-ever-afters, topped by the perfect wedding cake. But as Christmas approaches, Olivia is home alone and questioning her choices while eating too many of her own specialty confections.
When Simon Blacklock, a handsome, whimsical stranger, breezes into her shop and buys a cupcake and then returns the next day and the day after, Olivia begins to dream. Can romance blossom amidst the sugar and flour? And after a lifetime of living on the side lines, is she brave enough to star in her own story?
Simon may be hiding a painful secret, but Olivia harbors secrets of her own. If they can dare to risk their hearts, this Christmas might be the most magical yet!
📝My Review📝:
Cupcakes for Christmas: The most uplifting and unmissable feel good love story of Christmas 2018! by Kate Hewitt
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
4 Stars…
This book was sweet. I enjoyed it despite the first half of the book being a bit slow and boring at times. But after reading the entire book, I appreciated the slower pace because it made me appreciate the ending all the better. In addition to being a warm-hearted Christmas romance, this book was emotional. Life was not perfect for either Simon or Olivia. Each had their own emotional baggage. And while we are aware of Olivia’s from the beginning, it is Simon’s life that is slowly revealed. I won’t say more about that; I don’t want to spoil this book for you.
This book is written in third-person with only Olivia’s perspective. I admit I was a little disappointed by that. It is my personal preference to have both H/h POVs. I find that I can connect with the characters much better that way. However, I did know ahead of time that this book was single POV and wanted to read it anyway. I’m very glad I did because it was really a touching story and I enjoyed it very much. In fact I will be reading more from this author, for sure.
Olivia is thirty-nine and Simon is forty-one years old. Both are mature and lovely people. Olivia is taken by surprise at her attraction to Simon having not had any lasting relationships prior. After meeting Simon, she gradually understands why no other relationship worked out. There was a spark missing. A spark that is apparent when she is with Simon.
Simon is most definitely not an alpha. He is a sweet, caring man. A complete gentleman. He was so wonderful and to be honest I found his quiet, non-aggressive nature a nice change of pace from what I usually read in a hero. It was so easy to fall in love with Simon. Olivia and Simon were perfect for each other. As I said earlier in my review, the plot unfolds slowly but is worth it when you get to the happily-ever-after. This book was realistic and believable; a nice change from books where there are constant mentions of self-depreciation and physiques. The characters were perfectly, imperfect in my opinion.
There are several secondary characters in this book that have previously had their stories told in prior books of the Willoughby Close series. I would like to read them. So, if you are looking for a sweet, heart-warming Christmas romance with some emotional elements, I very much recommend Cupcakes For Christmas by Kate Hewitt.
This is my honest and unbiased opinion. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
