Love couple in bed

Synopsis:

“You may be faking the relationship, but you’re not faking the orgasms.”

Downsized, broke, and dumped, 38-year-old Marley sneaks home to her childhood bedroom in the town she couldn’t wait to escape twenty years ago. Not much has changed in Culpepper. The cool kids are still cool. Now they just own car dealerships and live in McMansions next door. Oh, and the whole town is still talking about that Homecoming she ruined her senior year. Desperate for a new start, Marley accepts a temporary teaching position. Can the girl banned from all future Culpepper High Homecomings keep the losing-est girls soccer team in school history from killing each other and prevent carpal tunnel in a bunch of phone-clutching gym class students? Maybe with the help of Jake Weston, high school bad boy turned sexy good guy. When the school rumor mill sends Marley to the principal’s office to sign an ethics contract, the tattooed track coach, dog dad, and teacher of the year becomes her new fake boyfriend and alibi—for a price. The Deal: He’ll teach her how to coach if she teaches him how to be in a relationship. Who knew a fake boyfriend could deliver such real orgasms? But it’s all temporary. The guy. The job. The team. There’s too much history. Rock bottom can’t turn into a foundation for happily ever after. Can it? Warning: Story also includes a meet-puke, a bouffanted nemesis, a yard swan and donkey basketball, a teenage-orchestrated makeover, and a fake relationship that gets a little too real between the sheets.

📝My Review📝:

Rock Bottom GirlRock Bottom Girl by Lucy Score

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Have you ever read a book that you could relate to so well that it gave you anxiety? Rock Bottom Girl did that for me. I believe there are four types of high school experiences. One being you loved high school and everything about it. The second being you absolutely hated it. The third being you pretended you loved it when you actually hated it. And finally, the fourth being you have both good and bad experiences. That’s me. I fall into the fourth category with a touch of the third. High school was not great for me in freshman year. I wasn’t bullied but I had a hard time trying to find my place. I ended up making friends that were not great in the way of role models. But thankfully, by my sophomore year, I knew who I was and who my true friends were. Unfortunately, there were not many of those. That said, I watched so many kids being bullied. Marley was familiar. There were so many Marleys in my high school. Unfortunately, there were more Amie Jo’s than I could count. I was more than thankful to not be on their radars.

As I read through this book, the angst just kept building. I really didn’t know how Marley’s life would turn out. And while she was very stubborn in her way of thinking, I understood her. There were many predictable moments that made me cringe and laugh at the same time.

Marley was that bullied girl in HS. I seriously don’t understand how she remained a decent person after all she had been through. I loved her character. She may have thought herself weak but Marley was anything but. When she moves back to her hometown after losing yet another job, broke and broken up with her boyfriend, Marley is at that place we call
“rock bottom.” Sometimes we need to hit that place in our lives to find a new perspective. Marley will take a temporary job as a gym teacher and soccer coach. Warily accepting this job, Marley will soon find out that this was the new direction her life needed. Nothing will come easy though. Marley admits to being afraid to return to HS even if she is an adult now. And sadly, she will have to deal with the school bully once again as this antagonist is a fellow teacher.

Of course, the bad boy of her youth still gets her blood pumping. There is also a story there but I won’t go into details. Marley’s journey, while angsty, is pure hysterics. Gosh, I laughed so much and so often through this book. My daughter thought I was crazy because of my loud bouts of laughter.

While this book brought back some less than pleasant HS moments, the author did a magnificent job in giving me new memories. Even if they aren’t mine, I got to experience them. I can’t say enough good things about this book and I’m so afraid that I haven’t done it justice in my review. This was actually the first book I ever read by Lucy Score. I am a huge fan now. If she writes all her books with this many feels, I am going to be a very happy reader!

I highly recommend this book to everyone. There is love, romance, a fake relationship, a hero donkey, and more laughter than my stomach muscles could take.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Cade Kipling can’t believe the beautiful woman that emerges from the cocoon of overalls and over sized glasses. If he wasn’t dead set on taking a few months to get his head on straight, after his long time abusive girl-friend dumped him, he’d be after Summer in a heartbeat.

📝My Review📝:

Roping Cade: Burlap and Barbed WireRoping Cade: Burlap and Barbed Wire by Shirley Penick

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Roping Cade has a different feel than the previous books in this series. The author touched on a couple of types of abuse. I won’t go into details on that because you’ll want to read it on your own.

As with the prior books, this one flowed nicely and I did find myself eating up the pages to get to the HEA. That said, I was a bit disappointed in the main characters for different reasons. Cade had been in a previous relationship where he was on and off with the woman for nearly twelve years. I tried very hard to understand his feelings regarding why he stayed so long with his ex and just couldn’t justify why. His ex walked all over him and he never stood up for himself. He believed he had a good reason for his putting up with his ex but I couldn’t see it. Sadly to say, Cade was not portrayed as a strong male lead. That said, I still adored him and rooted for him to have a happy-ever-after. He was a very likable character.

Summer had her own issues. She had secrets and I understood why she kept them. Summer had been hiding her true self for ten years. And when Cade asked her to pretend to be his girlfriend for a while, Summer practically leaps out of her shell. Cade gave her the confidence she needed to be free of her past. And Summer helped Cade to heal from his.

There are definitely bumps in the road for these two. But once both Cade and Summer can believe in themselves, they are able to move forward with each other and with new goals. I enjoyed reading this book and I am curious as to which of the remaining two siblings will get a book next. I just hope the author doesn’t keep us waiting too long.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

A Valentine’s Dream

Synopsis:

A Valentine’s Dream – A Curvy Girl Valentine’s Day Romance

Amy:

February 14th is just another day to me.

I don’t really believe in hearts, flowers, romance, or happily-ever-afters. And I certainly don’t think there’s a dream man for a curvy woman like me, even if my little sister had found hers over the holidays. I’m more realistic. Or at least…I was…until I met Levi Gillette during my sister Hayden’s wedding rehearsal dinner The man seems to have an annoying ability to make me lose my cool and calm facade. Yeah, he’s definitely hot, but my sister’s brother-in-law-to-be was also arrogant, infuriating, presumptuous, bossy, and most likely one big player because the man could be charming when he wanted to be.

No thanks! Been there, done that, and I’d had more than enough of men like Levi Gillette. But when I start having amazingly erotic, intimate dreams about him, it’s almost impossible to ignore him in the flesh.

In my dreams, it was like I’d known Levi forever.

But in person, I barely knew him, and he challenges everything I’d ever assumed about myself. We don’t even like each other, yet he feels so…familiar.

Finally, when the lines between dreams and reality start to blur, I have to wonder whether I can trust a guy like Levi with my heart.

I knew he was hiding something. There were things I didn’t know. I could feel it.

So when Levi finally reveals some hidden truths, I’m not sure whether to believe him, or run away as fast as my sneakers can put distance between us.

How can a woman like me, a female who has never had much faith in romantic love , suddenly believe in a A Valentine’s Dream?

Author’s Note: This isn’t your average, sweet Valentine’s romance. It’s an erotic, romantic fantasy sprinkled with some insta-lust/insta-love. But it IS a safe story. Guaranteed HEA, no cheating, and enough sweetness and heat to melt your Valentine’s Day chocolates. If you’re looking for a steamy, fantastical, curvy girl romance….read on. : )

Levi and Amy’s story…..
One thing I can say for sure is the premise of this book is one I haven’t come across before, with the exception of the prior book which is about Amy’s sister Hayden and Levi’s brother Jackson. Unfortunately, I cannot in good conscious explain the premise to you because that would in fact spoil a whole lot of this book for you. I can tell you that dreams do come true.

This book, was an enjoyable read. I liked Levi and Amy, especially watching their relationship grow. While they did have a history of sorts, they definitely needed time to figure out how to move forward. Levi was genuine. He was a gentleman and most importantly, I believed him. As different as the premise is, Levi made me a believer. Amy was a good heroine even though she frustrated me from time to time. That said, I understood her hesitation and wariness in giving her heart to Levi.
A Valentine’s Dream was a sweet and steamy read. The slow burn, scorching chemistry, and intense feelings were believable to me. I really enjoyed this book and I recommend it because not only is it sweet, it’s original.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Pretty things don’t distract me. In my line of work, a distraction will get you caught. Or in my case, blackmailed. But this isn’t the only time I’ve been hustled, and soon Connor Hayes will learn that men are only pawns in my end game. I don’t love. I hate. Even a pretty boy like him.

Two wrongs don’t make a right. Except when they are five-foot-seven and hotter than my exhaust pipe. So, I blackmailed her. It was either that or turn her in. And if anyone was going to put her in handcuffs, it was going to be me. Bianca Morgan stole the only woman I’ve ever loved. It’s only fair she replace her.

📝MY REVIEW📝:

Drifter (Commander in Briefs #3)Drifter by Kristy Marie

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Stars from page one! This is one of my favorite books, ever! Thank you Kristy for giving us the perfection that is Connor Hayes!

When I met all these amazing veterans in the first book, Commander In Briefs, I couldn’t wait to read each of their stories. Drifter is book three and I can honestly say my favorite so far. I say so far because each book is better than the last.

Over a year ago, a book friend (That’s you Jessica) ask me to read for this author. Her name is Kristy Marie and she was new. Well after reading Commander In Briefs, I would have never guessed she was a new author. Her writing was on point, descriptive and every page was engaging. Her characters were all alphas in need of some emotional healing. Their stories are heart breaking. But they get a lot of support from secondary characters. That said, this book, as well as the others, have all the feels. But don’t worry because there is humor too. A lot in fact, which is another aspect of this author’s writing that I loved.

Connor Hayes is amazing. He is sexy, cocky and adorable. In addition, Connor is protective, loyal and dealing with his own emotional demons. Bianca was a perfect match for Connor. From the first pages, I liked her despite what she was planning to do. Bianca and Conner’s relationship grew slowly. While Conner knew Bianca had some dark issues she herself had to deal with, he believed her to be a kindred spirit and he wanted to know everything about her. Connor was patient and kind and a gentleman. He was determined to earn her trust. Gosh I love him so much! He is my favorite hero from this series so far. But alas, there are still several more vets to get their healing.

There is some suspense, angst, and sad moments. But as I mentioned, there is humor to balance it all out. Kristy Marie has quickly moved to the top ten of my favorite authors list. If you have yet to read any of her books, I highly recommend you do. All the books in this series are standalones, but I suggest you read them in order to have an even greater reading experience.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Even if he has to bind them together with Christmas lights.

Police Chief Reese Sutton is haunted by his Christmas past, and he’s determined not to fall for Holly, the sexy shop owner of Mooseletoe, who promises to be as naughty as she is nice.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Stars!
What a fun book! It was silly and sweet and even sexy. Tiffinie Helmer is a new author for me. Moostletoe is my very first book by this author. Truthfully, I don’t know if I would have come across this author if it wasn’t for a free promotion included in an email I received. I am so happy I got to read this fantastical, whimsical and humorous romance.

Noelle reminds me of myself. If I could pick up my life, move to Alaska and sell Christmas all year round, I would. At least give it a try because I’m not so confident I’d survive the short days and freezing temperatures. Still, I think the whole premise of this book was adorable. In addition, the characters added depth and a ton of humor. Especially BW, lol.

Reese has a bad attitude toward the holidays. His churlish nature spills over into his relationships. Or should I say, lack of? Reese is not a commitment guy. Not anymore, at least. Will two complete opposites find warmth and love with each other? Or will past insecurities leave them cold and lonely? One of my favorite moments in this book happens at the. What an amazing gesture by Reese! I can’t say more but you’ll just love it as well.

If you have room for one more Christmas romance on your TBR’s, I absolutely recommend you check this book out. I will certainly be reading more from this author. I just adored this wonderful book!

This is my honest review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

4.5 Stars
I have been reading this author for a while now. I’ve always loved her books. As far as talent goes, she is a wonderful storyteller and always has me engaged in her books. This was actually my first book in the Boys of the Big Easy series. I definitely want to read the rest of the series. There are so many wonderful characters.

This story was so adorable and sexy at the same time. Lindsey and Matt have been married for ten years and have two young children, both boys. Matt is actively enlisted in the military, and the truth is he is away more than he is home. I’ll say right here that Lindsey is a one-in-million heroine. Not many women would be able to handle the absence of the man they love for most of the time they’ve been married. Lindsay never knows when Matt is going to be home or how long he is able to stay. I truly felt bad for Lindsey. This was not your typical romance. And I’ll admit, I expected more with the ending of this book. So, yes, I was a little disappointed after reading the last page. I just wanted more of the book and more for Lindsey and Matt as a couple. I don’t want to say much more; you’ll just have to read for yourself. I would like to add that my feelings about how the book ended is 100% a matter of preference and not based on the author’s talent for writing.

Because this is a fast-paced novella, I don’t want to give any details away. You can easily read this book in under a couple of hours. One more thing I would like to add, is after I finished reading this story, the characters stayed in my thoughts for very long time afterward. I just wish things would have been more easy for Lindsey and Matt. But one thing is for sure, their love was realistic and believable. I absolutely adored them as a couple. I respected them as well!

As I said earlier, I can’t wait to read the other books in this series. I absolutely recommend Egg Nog Makes Her Easy as a must read for the holidays. It will fill you with such emotions; your heart will be bursting with so many different feelings.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Synopsis:

He’s got every reason to be cocky . . . until a female cuts him down to size.

I’m Dallas Easton, the best goaltender in the league. I make a damn good living playing hockey, and with women falling at my feet wherever I go, why not enjoy it? I get whatever I want, whenever I want—that is, until I come across the one player who gets the best of me on the ice.

When I try to pummel the dude, all hell breaks loose. Imagine my surprise when the helmet comes off to reveal a woman underneath. And not just any woman, but the sexiest woman I’ve ever seen. Callie Davis is the complete opposite of the puck bunnies I usually go for, a good girl with sick moves and a selfless streak a mile wide. I need to make amends, but she dodges me at every turn. It doesn’t help that Callie’s brother hates my guts, or that my agent thinks she’s bad for my career.

But I could care less what they think. I can’t let our little run-in on the ice be the end of our story. Because when I set my sights on something, I won’t rest until I score.

My Review:

Blocked (Breakaway, #2)Blocked by L.P. Dover

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Stars…

Have I been hiding under a rock? Why did I not read this book sooner? If there is one type of genre/trope I love binge reading, it’s hockey romances. They are my kryptonite for sure. The Breakaway series by L.P. Dover has everything I love in hockey romances. While I haven’t yet read the first book yet, I have read books two and three and am excited for the next book that will be coming soon.

L.P. Dover has the talent for weaving a tale of love, romance, a bit of angst and even a touch of suspense. I found times that I was smiling or swooning. I even teared up here and there. One of my favorite aspects of romance novels are the dual perspectives. For me it certainly makes a better book. Being able to be inside the protagonists heads are important for my connectivity to both the hero AND heroine. So I was so pleased this book has all that for me.

A second favorite aspect is a groveling hero. I love when the hero of a romance knows he messed up, knows what he wants and will do anything to go after it. Even if he makes a fool of himself. The third plus for me is comedy. I was so pleased to see that in this book as well.

Dallas is a cocky man. He is used to getting the girls and you can assume correctly he loves women. Unfortunately his love for women will end up getting him into some trouble. But to Dallas’ delight, an “angel” comes to his rescue. And from that moment on he starts to see his life differently. Unfortunately, Dallas is not one to be taken seriously AND he may or may not have a couple of brawny, protective brothers to convince that he is going to be a better man. I loved the antics that went on between all the guys in this book. I don’t want to say too much regarding the dynamics of the team because that is partly what makes this book fun. Also there are many fun-loving, loyal secondary characters that bring more depth to this book.

Callie is a great heroine. She is smart, funny, independent and sassy. Not to mention, she can play hockey like a fiend. I loved watching her reactions to Dallas and his persistence to win her over. I felt the chemistry and connection these two had. And most importantly, I believed it. I believed that Dallas could change from his wild ways. And I absolutely loved that Callie made him work for it. Lord, did she make him work, lol.

This is a series I will be watching. There is a whole team of sexy, cocky hockey players that could use the love of a good woman. If you love hockey and fun, sexy low angst romances, I believe you’ll love this book.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Synopsis:

Jackson Bishop is your typical playboy.
Unpredictable, charming, and overly confident.

Growing up in Texas, the ranch life is all he’s ever known. Horses and late night partying are his lifestyles, and all the local girls know it too. Riding lessons aren’t the only things taught at the stables, and he makes sure clients never leave unsatisfied. Everyone knows Jackson’s a wild card, but not everything is as it seems. He may be a womanizer on the surface, but he’s hiding deep feelings about the one who’s had his heart since he was a teen. Unfortunately, it’s not as simple as roping her in and claiming her as his.

Kiera Young is well-known for her sassy nature and outgoing personality. Though she’s one of the best horse trainers in the area, she’s never been able to tame her best friend and the man she’s secretly loved since she was fifteen—Jackson Bishop. She’s waited years for him to confess his true feelings but as time goes on, she decides she’s done waiting. Kiera finally meets a man who promises to give her the world, and when he pops the question, she says yes—knowing they’re both ready to settle down and start a family.

Even if her heart beats for another man.

Jackson’s certain he’s lost Kiera for good and has no one to blame but himself. However, on the day of her wedding, he can’t bring himself to watch the woman he loves walk down the aisle to someone else. Kiera’s already having second thoughts and knows she can’t get married without his support. It’s not until she’s at the altar that she realizes she can’t let Jackson go and will do whatever it takes to keep him—even if it means running out on her own wedding.

My Review:

Keeping Him (Bishop Brothers, #4)Keeping Him by Kennedy Fox

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

4.5 to 5 Stars…

Keeping Him was on my most anticipated read list. How could it not be? After reading the first book, which was Alex and River’s story, all I wanted was to see the Bishop men get their happily-ever-afters.

From the first book, we know there is something between Kiera and Jackson. They were best friends since childhood and were always there for each other. Kiera was in love with Jackson for so long, believing her feelings for him were unrequited. I am going to say this…Jackson ticked me off a lot; from book one in this series to his own story. He is portrayed as a jerk. His lifestyle was not one I was happy with despite the reasons he lived that way. I wasn’t so sure I fully understood his behavior. Some of his actions were unforgivable. Kiera was truly and uncondidtionally in love with Jackson. She would have to be to forgive his actions.

Now, Kiera was not perfect either. Yes, she had a heart of gold. However, she made some mistakes. The most obvious was staying with Trent for so long. I can’t say too much about the relationship dynamic between Trent and Kiera, or Jackson and Kiera, or even Jackson and Trent. There is a story here that unfolds slowly with a lot of angst. I can say that I thought Kiera staying with Trent as long as she did was wrong. And as a result of that, Trent became someone she didn’t know as well as she thought. I can’t help but to feel that Trent’s personality change was sparked because of his insecurity with Kiera. You’ll have to read to form your own opinions but as obvious as it was that Trent was “losing it,” I’m a little troubled by my belief that he was unintentionally provoked. And by the end of the story, I was sad for him. Truly, I never disliked him. If this book didn’t end the way it did, I would have wished for this author to find him his own happy ending.

Ok, enough about that. Despite my concerns, I loved this book. The writing style of Kennedy Fox has always been one that I loved. This author duo always does an amazing job with premise, plot and resolutions. The end of the book was everything I hoped it would be. I also loved that Kiera and Jackson’s love for each other was believable. I just hated that they had to go through so many years of secretly loving each other before their HEA. But the waiting made it all the more perfect.

This was a beautiful story. I absolutely loved seeing the true Jackson revealed. My heart is heavy that this series is over. I can only hope that we will get glimpses of the Bishops in future books by Kennedy Fox. This is a series that I highly recommend. You will find angst, suspense, humor, loyalty and plenty of loving!

This is my honest and unbiased opinion. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
