October 1779
Invergarry
Landing, the O’Donnell Plantation
Savannah, Georgia
The mid-day sun
dipped behind a cloud as bitter cool rain began to fall. Colm Alexander Malcom
O’Donnell stood under the eve of the roof on the large porch, leaning against
one of twelve Romanesque pillars his father, The O’Donnell, had insisted be
part of the architecture of the home. He hated them, he hated his father, and
he hated the British. Most of all he hated his name. Called after his father
and his father before him, Colm was a family name, but after recent events the
young man had begun to use Alexander.
He stared out toward
the British encampment his father had allowed onto the plantation. He supposed
The O’Donnell really did not have much of a choice since the land had been
gifted to them by King George, but it still made him sick to see the flurry of
Redcoats scamper across their land as if it was their own. He wanted to kill
them all, every last Redcoat alive, and he wanted to kill his father for taking
the only woman he would ever love—Eleanor MacAllister.
He could still see
her tied to the pillar in the town square, the fire raging higher around her.
He could still hear her screams—they haunted his dreams. He had lost so much
that day, the day his father, the governor, and the British troops murdered
Eleanor. It was that day he made it his mission to kill as many of them as he
could. He stood in silence, waiting and planning, but until that day came, he
was obligated to the old man. His silent solitude was broken when the voice of
his father echoed through an open window.
“Alexander!”
Alex turned to see a
mature, portly man with his body halfway through the office window.
“Alexander! Come
into my office. We have much to discuss. Why you insist on being called
Alexander is beyond me.” His words trailed off as Alex turned back into the
house.
“I insist on being
called Alexander because I do not want to share a name with you, Father!”
Shaking his head,
the stout man sat behind the desk. “I wish you would just get that woman out of
your head. She is gone and you are here. We have more important matters to
discuss than that harlot.”
Alex pounded his
fists into the desk, his face red with anger. “Father, do not call her that
again. Do not even mention her name in my presence. If you do, I shall leave
this place and I will not return.”
“Fine… Fine… Sit
down, son. We must discuss the plans you have for your new regiment. I will be
inviting the governor to attend the ceremony and ball, and I want to make sure
we are on the same page. He is quite intrigued with the idea of you leading
troops. He seems to have taken a liking to you.”
Alex sat facing his
father and listened, his anger growing with every passing moment. He knew he
must tamp it down if the plans he had made with the Patriot commander in charge
of the southern forces, General Lincoln, were to come to fruition. He couldn’t
make a mistake. A mistake could cost them everything.
“I think Governor
Wright will be quite interested in what your plans are, but first I feel it is
necessary that we go over them together.”
Alex shifted in his
seat. He wanted so badly to inform the pompous windbag and his governor that
his plans were to see them all dead, and that the men of the Loyalist regiment
he led were not as loyal to the Crown as he made them out to be. Alex had ensured
that every able-bodied man who served under him was loyal to him and loyal to
the cause of freedom, and would not sink under the boot of the Crown. He
relished in thoughts of the day he would see his father and Governor Wright
slink their way back into the waiting arms of King George. He was quite sure
his father would try and take the property away from him, but he had covered
himself on that possibility as well. If it came down to it, he would fight for
himself and the residents of Invergarry Landing until his final breath. He
would kill his father if that was what it took.
“We have gone over
these plans extensively, Father. A rehash would be a useless waste of time for
both of us. Now why have you really called for me?”

“The Fae King’s Curse”  Series: Between Dawn and Dusk, by Author Jamie Schlosser, Genre: Fantasy Romance is Available NOW! #ReleaseBlitz #NewRelease

Title: The Fae King’s Curse
Series: Between Dawn and Dusk
Author: Jamie Schlosser
Genre: Fantasy Romance
Release Date: April 17, 2020

When I pulled Kirian from the icy waters of the creek behind my house, we were just twelve years old. As he looked in my direction with unseeing lavender eyes, I quickly realized our age was just about the only thing we had in common. He spoke with an accent, he had pointy ears, and he was so beautiful it made my heart ache. Oh, and he claimed to be a fae prince cursed by witches who stole his sight.

I thought he was crazy from hypothermia. Turns out, he wasn’t, and for some reason he keeps coming back. But a day in my world is a year in his. Every time I see him, he’s older. Wiser. Hotter.

Over the past six years, I’ve tried not to fall in love with him because the terms of the curse are clear: If he doesn’t wait for his fated mate in all ways, including an innocent (or not-so-innocent) kiss, he’ll be blind forever.

So when Kirian kisses me and pulls me through the portal to his realm, I make it my mission to do some damage control. It’d be a whole lot easier if he wasn’t determined to marry me… And if someone wasn’t trying to murder me every step of the way.

“I love you, Kirian. I’m in love with you.” My eyes sting. Damn it. I promised myself I wouldn’t cry. “Every day, when you come back to me, I’m terrified you’re going to tell me you found her—your mate. And it’s going to break my heart, because it’s not me. It’ll happen eventually, and I know when that time comes, I’ll never see you again. If you really care about me, you’ll leave right now and never come ba—”

Without warning, Kirian steps forward, cradles my face in his hands, and bends down. It seems like time is in slow motion as he comes closer.

I’m frozen in place when his breath ghosts across my mouth, right before his lips press to mine.

For a glorious second, all my dreams come true.

Kirian’s mouth is just as soft as I’d imagined it would be, and this isn’t just a single peck. His lips massage and nip at mine as he kisses me over and over again.

Kiss.

The curse.

No.

Pushing at his chest, I separate from him with a gasp. “What did you do? Kirian, if you so much as kiss someone else…”

I don’t have to finish that sentence. He knows the terms of the curse just as well as I do.

Permanent.

He’ll never see again because he kissed me.

“Why?” I demand, panting. “Why would you do that?”

Gripping my shoulders, he leans down until we’re nose to nose. “Because I can live without my sight, but I cannot live without you.”

Jamie Schlosser writes steamy new adult romance and romantic comedy. When she isn’t creating perfect book boyfriends, she’s a stay-at-home mom to her two wonderful kids. She believes reading is a great escape, otters are the best animal, and nothing is more satisfying than a happily-ever-after ending.

“What are you doing here? How did you find me?” I asked in disbelief.

He tugged my hand to sit on the bed. “I had promised that I would never be far. I intend to keep that promise. It would take something significant for me to break that vow.” He smirked.

I missed that cocky expression. My face broke into a smile, and my hand reached up and touched his face. I couldn’t believe he was in front of me.

His eyes blazed with heat, and he pulled me to his mouth. I sucked in a lungful of breath and met his intensity with my own. He gripped the back of my head, crushing me to him. My mouth molded his, and our tongues joined together in a rhythmic dance. We kissed until our energy filled to the brim, then we sprang apart. The last thing I needed was the Brotherhood being alerted that I’d left. We stared at each other with heavy breaths and flushed faces.

Once our breaths were almost back to normal, he pulled me to him once again and placed the softest kiss on my lips, which made my stomach clench and caused as much heat as his previous kiss. When he pulled away, I chased his mouth but missed, so I leaned my forehead on his to cool my uncontrollable urges. He placed his hand on my bare hip, but I had to grip his hand to stop it from moving. I had trouble damping down my desires—I wanted Alec. If it was hard to control myself around him before, being away from him made it impossible. Just his kiss made me feel like I would combust.

He was King of Arcadia Prep until she came for his
throne…

ARIANNA

We moved around a lot, too much.

The shine of my highly respected and decorated military dad’s badge wore off
after I became heavy baggage.

I was the new girl thirteen times in two years and every time I had to tape up
another box I grew more resentful. Forced to forget everyone I fell in love
with, laughed with and bonded with.

For a certain price you could unburden yourself from your hormonal teen at
Arcadia Prep too.

I’m reckless.

I’m impatient.

Purple hair, a don’t care attitude and my Doc Martens all screamed leave me
alone, fending off any new relationships.

I vowed to keep my heart safe this time, locking it away right under my anger
but he knew exactly where I hid the spare key – in his mysterious eyes the
minute ours locked.BOLTON

I was stuck – the essence of a God in some kind of limbo of high school.

I was meant for more than this.

Being king here meant nothing.

Arcadia Prep wasn’t for the weak. The expectations, the pressure, the standards,
the success and privilege smug on everyone’s face wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea.

I thrived in chaos.

I’m fearless.

I’m ruthless.

The new girl was not my cup of tea.

She stomped her Doc Martens all over my tradition, rules and my reign.

We all have secrets. Mine were paper weighted down by my heavy crown.

Her violet eyes and her abrupt attitude spewed sass all over my black on black.
She didn’t faze me until I realized she was after my crown…

I heard footsteps
long before I reached the door alerting me someone was trespassing. Quietly I
stood in the doorway searching the room for culprit when I should have guessed.
Arianna. New girl.
Her fingers danced
on the surfaces as her curiosity took it all in. There was no way to warn
people that I was in a dangerously ruthless mood, to warn her.
“You’re gonna
graduate from new girl to felon if
you don’t start following the rules.”
She laughed and
something about the casual attitude around the word felon made it seem like she
knew trouble better than I did.
“Been there, done
that, wasn’t worth the t-shirt or the keychain.”
I plopped down in
the chair I put there years ago now, tired of getting drunk and doing the same
shit. I rather do it alone then with people I hardly like. That’s why I come
here to hide during parties.
She finally let eyes
gloss over me and her face whines at the cut on my lip. I almost thought she
physically got hurt, too bad suffering isn’t transferable.
“What the fuck
happened to you?”
That sounded like a
real concern, in all it’s displaced glory. Stern, demanding, even judgement –
all here.
“Well, not that it’s
your business, but I finally got what I deserved for my mouth.”
She fearlessly
walked right over to me standing between my legs and leaned down to get a
better look. Her deep blues rimmed with violet to match her hair, reminded me
of the sky when it got tie-dyed  right
before sundown, as she inspected my wound that stopped hurting the more I
pushed the beer bottle to my lips over and over.
Better than the
golden hour before the all the colors turned black and nothing was covered in
the pretty filter. That summed up Arianna.
“Well deserved
doesn’t make it hurt less.”
She was wrong. It
actually did.
“Are you gonna kiss
it better?”
She actually half
scuffed, half snorted with laughter like I wasn’t being serious. I was in a
despicable and semi-diabolical mood hellbent on the two B’s that teenagers
values. Beers and Babes. The third B (bongs) was out since I couldn’t get
caught with shit in my system during a pee test.
Arianna wasn’t half
bad looking if I looked past her immature tantrum leading to her purple hair.
Her skin shimmered like it was actually happy and her lips were almost always
smiling. In this moment she was half goddess, but I couldn’t forget she was
always half Hell.
My own personal
hell.
I let my hand touch
her thigh so she knew I was serious even though I was slumped down and
perpetually board.
“What are you doing?
We hate each other remember?”
“Hate me tomorrow.”
