Synopsis:

From award-winning author Laura Trentham comes an emotionally layered novel about redemption, second chances and discovering that life is worth fighting for.

At thirty, Greer Hadley never expected to be forced home to Madison, Tennessee with her life and dreams of being a songwriter up in flames. To make matters worse, a series of bad decisions and even crappier luck lands her community service hours at a nonprofit organization that aids veterans and their families. Greer cannot fathom how she’s supposed to use music to help anyone deal with their trauma and loss when the one thing that brought her joy has failed her.

When Greer meets fifteen-year-old Ally Martinez, her plans to stay detached and do as little as possible get thrown away. New to town and dealing with the death of her father in action, she hides her emotions behind a mask of bitterness and sarcasm, but Greer is able to see past it and recognizes pieces of who she once was in Ally. The raw and obvious talent she possesses could take her to the top and Greer vows to make sure life’s negativities don’t derail Ally’s potential.

After Greer is assigned a veteran to help, she’s not surprised Emmett Lawson, the town’s golden boy, followed his family’s legacy. What leaves her shocked is the shell of a man who believes he doesn’t deserve anyone’s help. A breakthrough with Ally reminds Greer that no one is worth giving up on. So she shows up one day with his old guitar, and meets Emmett’s rage head on with her stubbornness. When a situation with Ally becomes dire, the two of them must become a team to save her—and along the way they might just save themselves too.

An Everyday Hero (Heart of a Hero Book 2)An Everyday Hero by Laura Trentham

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

After I read the blurb for An Everyday Hero, I knew this book was for me. I knew this would be a book that tugged at my heart and made me smile at the same time. One would think this is not a book filled with smiles and laughter but I disagree. That said, there is some intense and heartbreaking situations in this book. The heroine, Greer, was one sassy, take no nonsense woman. Even after the bad luck and lack of success she’d been facing in her music career, Greer still has a strong, likable personality. Did I say she was perfect? No, she is definitely not perfect. But she was perfect for the situations she found herself in as a result of her poor choices. Because of some trouble Greer causes at a bar (I’ll not give away details) she lands herself in community service. Greer is required to volunteer her musical talents at a center for military veterans and/or their families. During her volunteering, Greer will be assigned two people, with two different situations. They will change her life for the better as she will change theirs.

An Everyday Hero was the first book I read from this author. It definitely won’t be my last. This is a book with all the feels, wonderful primary and secondary characters, a believable premise and a happy ending that is sigh-worthy. The pace is steady and this book can easily be read in one sitting if you have no interruptions. I was engaged from the very first pages all the way through, until I got my happy ending. I’m so glad this book came my way. I absolutely recommend this to anyone who loves novels with great characters, all the feels, and a beautiful ending.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Heartbreakingly beautiful and devastatingly annoying, Timaeus Lambros, a deaf, former military translator, has just been assigned as my co-teacher for the rest of the school year.
His stupid-hot face gets on my nerves.
So does his well-fitting jeans.
Charming and gorgeous men like him should not be teachers.
They should be locked away in a storage closet… with me.
But that’s just a teachers’ lounge fantasy with a big dreamy sigh attached.
Tim and I can never be a thing. He’s broody and closed off, while I’m the new owner of a one-way ticket back to Costa Rica, thanks to budget cuts.
But my Abuelita always said life wasn’t a fairytale. So even if Tim does have a magical tongue and a dreamy body, we still might not get a happily ever after.

EXCERPT:
“Well, well, Mr. Broody. It’s nice to finally meet you. I have to say, Milah hasn’t been that forthcoming about…” He motions up and down my body with a long nail, “you.”
“Oh my God, Pe!” Milah’s eyes are wide when she scans our group. “I’m so sorry. I’m Milah. Tim’s co-teacher.”
“You mean his boss,” adds Hayes, his hands signing along with his words. I make sure to look around to see if anyone saw him do it, but no one seems to care that we’re standing in the middle of the room chatting.
Milah grins. “I guess you could say that.” She doesn’t sign her words though and I wonder if she saw me do a sweep of the place. But when she shakes each of my crew’s hands and introduces Felipe, I decide she didn’t catch it. Of course she didn’t, Tim. Everyone is here trying to have a good time. No one is worrying about if we’re being looked at. They’ve all signed since we walked in which could look to outsiders like any one of us could be deaf.
“So, Felipe, do you have any grungy hallways that seem a little stripper-y?” I snap out of the signing debate when I see Theo half-sign his words to Felipe. Did I interpret that correctly? “I thought we were coming to a strip club—” Milah’s eyes narrow at me and all I can do is smile. “—and I was looking forward to some filthy romps against something that might end up with me needing an antibiotic later.” Have mercy on my soul. I interpreted it correctly. I guess I should be lucky he didn’t say worse.
“He doesn’t mean that,” I say, mostly because it’s the right thing to say. No one needs to know about Theo’s sexcapades this early into meeting him.
“Shut up, Lambros. That’s exactly what I mean. Point me to a good rug that won’t hurt her knees.” This time, Anniston pinches his side and it makes the group laugh. Whether he really means to have a romp against something filthy or just tried to break the ice between all of us, I’ll never know. Theo works in mysterious ways.

About the Author:

A self-proclaimed reader enthusiast, Kristy started her writing journey back in 2009, reading and writing when her daughter was napping. Establishing her place in Corporate America (because something had to pay the bills), writing became her dirty, late-night secret.

After eight long years, she released her debut novel, Commander in Briefs. It was a long road, but she can honestly say, the road less traveled had the most beautiful sights.

The only thing Kristy Marie loves as much as reading and writing is sports! Especially those that require muscles and a nice ass. Her favorite is, and always will be, baseball. She’s such a fan, that she even married her small town’s high school’s centerfielder where they still live with their three badass kids.

📝My Review📝: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Every book in this series keeps getting better and better! Interpreter is book four but if you’ve read the series from the beginning, then you’ve already met Tim. There are so many amazing characters in this series. I’ll be honest, while I loved all the books, so far Interpreter is my favorite. Tim has had my attention for a long time and I was so impatient for his story. I’m also eager for Vic’s story too.
Kristy Marie has an incredible talent when it comes to putting pen to paper. Her books are angsty, emotional, sexy, and humorous. I truly appreciate the humor in her books because the premises are dark and even sad. Her balance of all the emotions is perfect. The attention to detail and the research that went into this book was so appreciated. I was heartbroken at times. Tim was such an intense hero. He had been through so much and his story is downright heart-rending and distressful. Tim is a strong-minded man. Also, stubborn. When he meets Milah, Tim slowly realizes that he is missing out on life by hiding away.

Milah, was the perfect heroine for Tim. She was beautiful inside and out. She instinctually knew what Tim needed and when. Rarely do you read about a heroine so attuned to her hero. They were soul-mates. Perfect together in every way.

I am so glad I got a front row seat to Tim’s happily-ever-after. It was so worth the agonizing wait! This is a series I highly recommend. Yes, Interpreter can be read as standalone but because of all the interaction with secondary characters, you’ll be eager for their stories. I promise you won’t be disappointed!

I’m sorry for not giving more details about the premise of this book but I feel you would appreciate reading all this perfection on your own.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it.

Synopsis:  A Cowboy Under the Mistletoe

‘Tis the season for starting over for one military man turned cowboy in this new novel by the New York Times bestselling author of The Cowboy and His Baby.

Former Navy master-at-arms Jason Clements is down on his luck and calling in one last favor. His cousin has secured him a job opportunity as a cowboy working at Price Ranch in Wyoming. Too bad Jason has never even saddled a horse. If he can keep this job without his PTSD getting in the way, it’ll be a Christmas miracle.

Local busybody Sage Cooper loves Painted Barrel something fierce, but it’s time for her to move on. Since her father passed away, the family ranch feels too big for just her, and there’s no chance of finding a husband in this small town. To the rest of the world, she’s just another local fixture, known for her closet full of ugly Christmas sweaters and being perpetually single.

It isn’t until Jason shows up in desperate need of a cowboy crash course that Sage discovers a tall, dark, and handsome reason to stick around. And with the holidays coming up, Sage is in need of a date for a special event—maybe they’ll turn out to be each other’s best Christmas present.

📝My Review📝: 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

A Cowboy Under the MistletoeA Cowboy Under the Mistletoe by Jessica Clare

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh, I loved this book so much!
Why haven’t I read this author before now?
If I could give this book more than five stars, I certainly would. This author wrote in a way that tugged every one of my heartstrings. At some point we all say, “every now and then a certain book will come along and once you finish, you are left will long sigh, a huge smile and a feeling like you’ve been awarded something special,” Well that was A Cowboy Under The Mistletoe for me. A truly endearing, heartwarming, poignant story. I am absolutely going to put time aside and read more from Jessica Clare.

Sage and Jason…..
This is a story that you’ll need to experience each emotion your own, so I’m not going to tell you anything that will take away from that. Sorry, no spoilers.

Sage grew up in a small Wyoming town called Painted Barrel. While she is friends with everyone in town, Sage still feels very much alone. Sage made a decision that once the Spring rolled around, she would sell her ranch and move on to a larger town where she can start over and hopefully find love. With her longtime crush (never noticing her for more than his friend) getting married, Sage realizes she needs a change. It’s time.

Jason Clements has a story. An endearingly, heartbreaking story. He desperately wants to fit in, wants to finally call someplace home rather than jumping around from job to job. Employment is something Jason is struggling with due to his PTSD. While Sage had me sad for her loneliness, Jason’s story had my heart bleeding. That said, I really appreciated how the author wrote his struggles so I could experience them with him. I was sad when he was sad. When Jason was afraid, I was scared with him. And when he found love, I was teary-eyed, not to mention, relieved.

This book was so perfect for a Christmas romance.

I don’t want to say anything more other than this is a must read and I recommend you check it out when it releases mid-October. This book will leave you truly feeling warm and exudes that special feeling that is in the air around the holiday season. A Cowboy Under The Mistletoe has all the feels, and then some.

This is my honest and unbiased opinion. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
