I might be the one who swore an oath to save lives, but they saved me…

Saving lives isn’t just my job, it’s my whole world. Working eighteen hour days, I live in the hospital, running from patient to patient until I encounter a mysterious woman who stops me in my tracks. Afraid of her own shadow, I quickly diagnose that not all of her injuries are physical and the helpless look in her eyes turns my world upside down.

I follow up with her, trying to convince myself that my actions are that of a concerned doctor. But it’s more than that… turns out there is more to her as well. She’s a single mom, and the fear in her eyes isn’t just for herself, but for her amazing daughter. Before I even realize what’s happening, I’m determined to save them both and it has nothing to do with oaths or medicine. First, she will have to trust me. Not just with her life, but her heart.

About Andi Jaxon

From Dyslexic kid with a love of Algebra to a published author, no one is more surprised to find me here, than I am. I love to write about tortured pasts and hot sex, a happily ever after that has to be worked for. My stories tend to be a little dark but with some comic relief, typically in the form of sarcasm.

📝My Review📝:

Save MeSave Me by A.J. Alexander

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was so intense and emotional. The characters were amazing, and I just adored Sophie!

Recently, I read my first Andi Jaxon novel and loved it. So much so that I will be adding some of her books to my summer reading list. With the exception of holiday romance, summer reading is my favorite time of the year. It’s the one time I promise myself to knock off books from my TBR, and read for pure pleasure. Not that I don’t do that already, but being a blogger/reviewer, I read many ARCs. Oh, please don’t misunderstand because I love to read for authors however, I like to just kick back and read my own selections too. Hence, one reason why I look forward to the summer.

That said…..This was my first collaboration read from Andi Jaxon and AJ Alexander. I know, right? Where have I been hiding? Under a rock, apparently. Nevertheless, I am so happy I read this book. Now I can’t wait to read an exclusive AJ Alexander novel.

This book was, for me, a darker read than I am used to. I’ll be honest, I avoid books with heavy physical abuse. (*please note, if you read the blurb that you already know that the majority of physical abuse is talked about but not actually on the pages) It breaks my heart too much. But this book came across my blog and after reading the blurb, I just knew I had to read it. Both authors did a great job at weaving this story, making it believable and giving us a well-deserved happy ending. Yes, karma is a queen not to be messed with!

I’m not going to give away any details. Not even the smallest hints. This is a book that you need to go into without too many spoilers so you can appreciate everything good that happens. It will only make the ending so much sweeter. I will tell you that the secondary characters (well not all of them) were charming and and added not only depth, but some humor to a story that is angsty and intense.

I recommend this fast-paced read. As I mentioned earlier in my review, I am looking forward to reading more from both of these authors, exclusively and collaboratively.

This is my honest and unbiased opinion. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Synopsis:

Charlie is everything I want and didn’t realize I need. It’s clear to me now that the woman I met at the club is only one layer of the woman I’m falling for. I’m a fixer by nature but for the first time I wouldn’t fix a thing. I want her just the way she is. Broken pieces and all. Who needs the fairy tale when we can have the reality.

Tristan is everything I want, yet don’t deserve. He’s loving, protective, smart, an amazing father, and he’s on to me. That’s why I need to speed this story up and tell him everything, so we can flip to the end of the book, and him and his daughter can move on to the next story. One where they get a happily ever after. Because there’s no story I’m a part of that ends in any way but tragedy.

My Review:

Clinched (Fighting Love #2)Clinched by Nikki Ash

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Fantastic Stars!

Holy Hell! Oh. My. God!
I don’t even know where to begin with this book!
To say I loved it is a HUGE understatement.

I’m determined to write this review without spoiling anything for you. There was so much going on here and this book was overloaded with feels. There is tragedy but there is also so much laughter. I cried both happy and gut wrenching tears. From page one I was engaged. And the only reason it became necessary to put my Kindle down was because I needed to take care of my family. The nerve of them taking me from my reading, lol. 🙂 I will add this book has one of the very best endings I have ever read!

I have only read a few books by this author and I have loved every single one. Nikki Ash has an amazing talent for storytelling. She is not afraid to cross some boundaries or break your heart to pieces. I promise you though, she will do an absolutely amazing and satisfying job of piecing your heart back together.

Tristan and Charlie were two of my favorite characters of the year. Hands down, I mean that. I can’t say too much without giving you spoilers but I can say there are a few other characters in this book that you will love. There is no way you couldn’t.

Tristan is a single father. He is a great dad, a great friend. Tristan is at the top of my book boyfriend list. He has a protective and loyal side. He is kind, friendly, and so so sexy. There is no way you can’t love him.

Charlie has been through unimaginable trauma. She is guarded and wary of everyone and everything around her. All with good reason. Her circumstances gutted me. Completely. Charlie never saw Tristan coming. Or his adorable daughter. They both helped to heal her. They showed her unconditional love and support. I loved Charlie!

This is one of the best books I’ve read this year. While Charlie and Tristan’s relationship grew slowly, I never felt frustrated by the pace. In fact, this book would not have been believable otherwise. While I can’t say this book was relatable (for obvious reasons), it was everything I look for in the perfect read.

If you haven’t read this author yet, I recommend her highly. That said, I have read a few of her books and look forward to reading more. I only wish there was more reading time available in my days. Tristan’s best friend Mason has a book coming soon. I plan to grab that one as soon as it releases!

This is my unbiased and honest review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

My Review:

 BluebirdBluebird by Stella James

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Stars to Bluebird by Stella James.

This book completely blew me away! While the cover of this book is sweet and innocent, reading what is behind the cover is emotional and angsty. And I absolutely loved every minute of this book! I have read every book by this author and loved them all, but I will tell you that Bluebird is an entirely different book than what Stella usually writes. Of course her usual talent for writing is there even though this story is darker than her norm. Stella James in my opinion stepped outside the box and did it beautifully. This book has all the feels. There were moments that brought tears to my eyes and there are moments that made me smile. There are also moments that had my heart pumping wildly and I had some panicky moments too. And yes, I admit to a possible, (not actually admitting 😉 ) throw my Kindle moment.

Prairie and Logan…….

These two characters totally belong together. Their connection is strong and magnetic from the very moment they lock eyes on one another. Prairie was a character that I absolutely loved. In fact, even at such young age I can say that she is one of the strongest heroines I have read this year. Of course she was sweet and innocent but she was also loyal, caring and loving. I loved how she saw the absolute best in Logan when he couldn’t even see that in himself. It only took a few moments before prairie became Logans everything and Logan became hers.

Prairie and Logan met in high school and become inseparable. They planned of future the way that only teenagers again. But something happens that tears it all apart.

Five years later gives Prairie and Logan a second chance. I will not go into specifics, I will not say anything to spoil this book for you. However I will tell you it is definitely a must read!

As the author states in the blurb this book has triggers. There were some horrible situations that I did not see coming. There is definitely a happily-ever-after. In addition there is more than one epilogue which adds even more to the HEA. Again, I’ll say I totally recommend this book as a must read.

Another great book that I’ll be thinking about for a long time!

This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it.

Synopsis:

STERLING LOCKE

They say us Locke brothers are savage and that we’ll take care of any motherfucker who steps out of line without even batting an eye.
They’re right as shit.
The last thing you want to do is get on the bad side of a Locke.
There’s no fucks given when it comes to protecting the people we care about. We’ll fight to the motherfucking death if it comes down to it.
So when Wynter shows up on our property with a busted up face, looking for protection, you better believe that’s what she’ll get.
It may have been three years since I’ve seen her, but I instantly feel the need to protect her. It consumes me, turning me into a monster that even the devil himself doesn’t want to fuck with.
I know she’s here because she’s certain I’ll go to great lengths to protect her, but I’m going to show her that she’s gonna want me for a hell of a lot more than just that.
I can take care of her, not just making sure she’s protected, but by showing her with my body how good I can make her feel.
I’m going to show her that sometimes savage… can be good.

WYNTER LOWE

I don’t know what I was thinking when I showed up at Sterling’s house. I guess knowing that only he could protect me made me do this pretty stupid thing.
The Locke brothers are dangerous, and have been since long before I really knew them.
Coming here beaten won’t just humiliate me and make me feel weak, but I know it will get the Locke’s worked up. And hurting the person who did this to me runs strong in my veins.
But maybe that’s the reason I came here… because I knew they’d help me no matter what.
All it takes is one look at Sterling for me to realize my feelings for him are still there… and strong as hell. I want to hold onto these emotions because after what I’ve gone through they make me feel safe, protected, and like nothing can touch me.
Sterling makes me feel like all of that and more. I want to be his and this time, the dark rumors around town, won’t keep me from letting that happen.

WARNING: Savage Locke is a short co-written, kind of twisted love story from NYT Bestselling Author Victoria Ashley and USA Today Bestselling Author Jenika Snow. If you like it hot and a little rough… this is the book for you. 18+

My Review:

Savage Locke (Locke Brothers, 2)Savage Locke by Victoria Ashley

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

5 Stars to Savage Locke: Locke Brothers #2 by Victoria Ashley & Jenika Snow.

Sterling & Wynter…….

Another Locke brother gets his story. Sterling is the middle brother and no less intense and vicious than Ace or Aston. Sterling, like his brothers, is not to be messed with. They are feared and for good reasons. However, while they can be brutal, they are intensely loyal and protective of those they care about.

That said, I wasn’t sure I would like this series but because I am a fan of both Victoria Ashley and Jenika Snow, I gave it a try. I’m glad I did because I really love these Locke Brothers! They are what I call dark heroes who won’t think twice about breaking the law to dish out their own brand of justice.

When Wynter, a girl from Sterling’s past, one that he had strong feelings for, shows up after three years, bruised and battered, Sterling is ready to go to war. Not only will he avenge Wynter, he will make her his own once and for all.

This book is so short and can easily be read in a couple of hours or less. But even though it’s short, it packs a punch!

There is some brutal violence in this book, intense characters and powerful emotions. I loved this book and can’t wait for Ace’s book next!

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it.

My Review:

Burn For Me (Burn Series #3)Burn For Me by Dee Ellis

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 STARS to Burn For Me (Burn Series #3) by author Dee Ellis.

Coming June 17th~

Hunter Byrne and Lola Von…….

Holy hotness!!! This book is appropriately titled. It was scorching! Who doesn’t love a sexy, hot, passionate, possessive, and protective fireman, who is not only a sweetheart but incredibly talented between the sheets? 😉 I admit to having many blushing moments.

Burn For Me is book three in this series. In my opinion, the author’s talent grew and developed with each book. I feel guilty admitting this but Hunter is my new favorite. That says a lot because I flove Finn Cooper! We met Finn in book one, Let It Burn, which is Cage’s story, then got to know more of him in his own, book 2 Burn It Down.

Hunter never thought he’d find a woman who made him burn with unrelenting desire. For years, he’s sworn off relationships and only sates is sexual appetites with one-nighters. But when he meets Lola, Hunter wonders if he can change. Or if he even wants to. Watching his friends fall in love and find their soul mates only adds to his loneliness. Hunter is longing for love but doesn’t trust in it.

Lola is an independent, sassy, intelligent, and talented young woman. Lola is also very cautious, wary and guarded when it comes to letting people close. Her past was horrific, disturbing, and heartbreaking. I don’t blame Lola one single bit for being selective with who’ll she allow to befriend her. Surprisingly when she meets Hunter, she slowly allows the walls around her heart start to crumble and fall.

Hunter and Lola are drawn to each other. As a reader I was feeling every emotion between them. Their sexual chemistry is scorching; their individual attempts to keep each other at a distance were an epic fail. When Lola and Hunter gave in to their desire for each other, it was off the charts sexy and erotic. Hot, hot, hot!

I didn’t only feel the chemistry between them. I felt their connection, their undeniable love for one another. Hunter and Lola were connected by their souls. They were truly meant to be together. This book will take you on an emotional roller coaster. Hold on to your heart!

There is a dark shadow hanging around, dangerously close. The suspense in this book had me in a panic. And when that conflict finally peaked, I nearly had a heart attack! I won’t give you details but I will say the author will pull you up then tear you down. There are twists and turns. There is suspense and danger. The emotions are very high.

Thankfully, when you reach the end, you’ll swoon and sigh. I am confident you will be head over heels for Hunter Byrne. You will also adore Lola.

I absolutely cannot wait for the next book in the Burn Series. There is still one fireman at Ladder 71 that is in need of a HEA.

Burn For Me can be read as a standalone however characters from the previous books are present throughout Hunter and Lola’s story, lending their love and support. I recommend you read those book as well, before or after. You won’t be sorry.

Excerpt

Fletcher“You’re Fletcher, aren’t you?” a tall blonde with legs that go on for miles asks, resting her hand on my shoulder. Logan smiles with a look that says you’ve pulled tonight. She is pretty tidy looking, but has overdone it in the make-up department. I rake my eyes in appreciation over her body. Curves in all the right places, and those tits, bloody hell…I could have a lot

of fun with those as I slide between them, but of course, they’re probably fake.

“Yeah,” I say, even though I shouldn’t, but I’m sure the rest of the guys are loving the female attention they’re getting. “Drinks all around,” I call out.

The bartender smiles as he looks at our company. Even he has an idea of how tonight will end.

The blonde tells me her name, but I don’t take any notice. I don’t want to remember her name in the morning, or whenever I creep out of her bed. Makes it easier that way. As the alcohol flows freely, the blonde keeps trying to persuade me to get on the dance floor with her. She seems the type that wouldn’t mind putting on one hell of a floor show. I might be on the drunk side now, but I’m still cautious. I’ve definitely learned my lesson over the years; you just never know who is lurking around, ready to get pictures. She can do what she wants for me in private later on, though.

“Playing The Game” – A Beautiful Game book One – is by author Karen Frances.
My Rating: 5
Book Cover Rating: 4

*Not a standalone*

This is one of the hardest reviews to write, for me. I have truly been reflecting on this review for a week. I did love it! However, unfortunately, the cliffhanger unravelled all the good feelings I had. It left me speechless and angry. However, I wasn’t speechless for long because the foul words that spewed from my mouth went on for a while. I guess you can infer that I am not a fan of cliffhangers. At all! While plenty of my fellow readers don’t mind them, it’s not my thing. I am impatient and don’t want to be kept waiting months for my happily ever after. When I dove into this book, I was not aware of how it would end. Had I known, would I have still read it? Probably not. That said, I promise to give the fair rating that this story deserves, keeping my feeling regarding the cliffhanger from influencing that.

As an avid reader of romance I was thoroughly engrossed. The first few chapters were a bit slow while the author was building the story. This was an emotional book. I will keep details and spoilers out of my review. As far as the “feels” go, Playing The Game had it all. I mean that very literally. There was an underlying suspense aspect that hangs around most of the book. It kept the story engaging and intense. Although our H/h begin a relationship (but not immediately) there is always an element of darkness hovering, keeping them in a cautious state of mind.

Fletcher is the stereotypical “player” athlete. He has recently come to a crossroad in his life and he realizes it’s time to take a different path. Currently an international professional “football” star, he asks management for a transfer. The transfer brings Fletcher to his childhood home of Scotland where he settles at his deceased grandparents home. There is a sad story there. This was the only place Fletcher ever felt like it was “home.” The only placed he ever felt loved.

Fletcher is determined to stay away from his usual brand of trouble; what led to his public reputation as a womanizer. When Fletcher meets the beautiful and broken Jessica all his instincts to protect come to the forefront. But he knows Jessica deserves better than the likes of him. That said, Fletcher tries to keep their interactions short and light. Although he keeps a respectful distance at first, that doesn’t last.

Jessica thought life was going well. And then in the blink of an eye, it wasn’t. Jessica didn’t know how to get through a single day without heartache and emotional pain. Meeting Fletcher is what helped begin her healing process. Her healing was slow and gradual but Fletcher was there to keep her focused and on a positive path. Their development emotionally as a couple starts slowly and continues cautiously. I was so impressed with Fletcher. He was an amazing hero. He was kind and patient. He was also protective and went out of his way make life easier for Jessica. I will say again that Playing The Game is packed with all the “feels” so be prepared for anything.

So…..regardless of the evil that is the cliffhanger, I was completely into this book. Fletcher grew so much in character, as well as Jessica. I absolutely can’t wait (I mean that literally) for book two. Fletcher and Jessica’s love for each other is strong and I believe they will overcome what comes next, even though I know their road to happily ever after is beaten and battered with emotional obstacles.

Synopsis:

TYLER (Inked Brotherhood #2)

Four years have passed since I left home, my parents, and my brother Asher behind – since I shut out my past.

And Erin. Four years since I last saw her, since I heard her voice and held her in my arms. I’ve spent my time forging a path from woman to woman, from bed to bed, trying to find an answer. But I think I’ve lost my way. There’s no light at the end of the dark.

No big surprise. I carry the dark inside me. I’m a bastard – branded as such from the start. I never give my phone number and address. I take my pleasure, and don’t come back for seconds. No commitments, no promises and no happy endings. Yeah, I’m a bastard down to the bone and I don’t give a damn.

But now I’m back in my birth town, the town I fled at eighteen – back to make amends to the brother I abandoned and watch from afar the only girl I’ve ever wanted. Hope isn’t a currency I can afford. I learned that lesson long ago.

Yet when she looks at me and says my name, I can’t help but hope.

Standalone novel. No cliffhanger.

*Warning: this book contains graphic language, sex, and violence. Mature readers only. Not intended for young readers.*

Inked Brotherhood Series:

Five boys brought together by fate. Five young men trying to overcome their troubled pasts. Five tattoos marking them as a brotherhood built on tragedy. Will they find understanding and rise above the pain?

Five girls tied by friendship. Five young women fighting their own demons. Five lives laced with sorrow. Will they be strong enough to save the men they love and make them happy?

The series comprises five interconnected, stand-alone novels: Asher, Tyler, Zane, Dylan and Rafe.

My Review:

Tyler (Inked Brotherhood, #2)Tyler by Jo Raven

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

TYLER (Inked Brotherhood #2) is by Jo Raven.

So I’ve read this book a couple of times and recently realized I never gave it a proper review. Time to rectify that…..

Tyler is the second book in the Inked Brotherhood series. It was no less intense and tragic than book one, Asher, who is Tyler’s younger brother.

I’m going to warn you now. You will fall in love with Tyler. You will feel protective of him and you will want to hurt those that have hurt him. Just saying. Jo Raven does not write fluff. Not even close. Jo’s heroes may be tattooed, sexy hotties, but they are broken, tortured and in need of love and healing. Four years ago Tyler left home abruptly. You will absolutely cry when you learn about Tyler’s past. He had to leave behind his younger brother Asher, and the sweet girl he loved, Erin. But now he’s back. Tyler wants to reconnect with Asher and make amends for leaving but Asher is angry and hurt. As far as Asher is concerned, Tyler abandoned him and he doesn’t want to forgive. Tyler doesn’t know how to move past Asher’s anger but he needs to try and make up for the past. A past which was not his fault. Erin is the girl he left behind without a word. To say she is angry and hurt is an understatement. However, Tyler doesn’t think he should try to reconnect with Erin. He believes himself too damaged and she deserves the best. Certainly not the broken soul that he is now. The horrific reasons that Tyler left may no longer be relevant but unfortunately he has new horrors to deal with.

I don’t want to give away any details. Tyler’s issues will unravel slowly and with each setback you will be right there with him. You will feel his pain and torment. You will pray for him and those close to him; those he loves, as his secrets are revealed. Tyler is overwhelmed with love and support; something he never had before. Tyler will have his happily ever after. I promise!

Love isn’t always enough to heal the horrors of the past…but sometimes it is.

My Review:

Playing the Game (A Beautiful Game, #1)Playing the Game by Karen Frances

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“Playing The Game” – A Beautiful Game book One – is by author Karen Frances.
My Rating: 5
