Synopsis:

A Christmas in Last Stand brings unexpected gifts to two very different people…

Detective Sean Highwater may be one of the famous Highwaters, but he has always felt a half-step off because of the way his agile mind works. Only learning to focus has enabled him to not just survive, but thrive.

Elena de la Cova is from a respected and highly regarded founding family, brought up with rather stringent expectations, but right now she is a widow trying to raise a son she doesn’t understand.

If Last Stand had royalty, in Sean’s book it would be elegant Elena. He’s willing to help her son as he had been helped, but being that close to Elena scares him to death since he’s been in awe of her for years. Elena is impressed both with the way Sean gets through to her son, and with his appreciation for the Christmas customs of her culture as much as his own.

Their perceptions of each other shift, but will the passion that strikes between them be enough to overcome their perceptions of themselves?

📝My Review📝:   🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

A Lone Star Christmas (Texas Justice, #3)A Lone Star Christmas by Justine Davis

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A beautifully written, complex and passionate story. Two people who have been through great tragedy and heartbreak will find love and acceptance with each other and a future that is beautifully bright.

Sean Highwater is an intelligent man. He is one of Last Stand’s detectives and a man who thrives on solving puzzles whether they be for policework, fun or just life in general. Sean has always had a thoughtful way of thinking and not a big fan of social situations. Childhood bullies have made him wary and cautious. Because of this, Sean has led a rather lonely life. With the exception of his family, the rare individuals that truly understand him, Sean is decidedly content. As for a significant other? For the last decade there has only been one woman to hold his attention. Elena de la Cova. To Sean she is Last Stand royalty. A beautiful, elegant woman who carries herself with a regal air. Elena is not pretentious or snobbish. She is a widow with a ten-year-old son.

Over the course of the book, Sean and Elena will find themselves in each other’s company more often then not. Sean will eventually learn that Elena, while elegant, beautiful and what he describes as regal, is most definitely attainable for a quiet introvert such as himself.

I won’t go into details but I will say I enjoyed Sean and Elena’s story very much and named it as one of my favorite holiday reads. I definitely recommend this book, which while part of a series, can be read as a standalone. In fact, I am looking forward to reading about the other Highwater siblings.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it.

New Release with 📝Review: Iced (Boston Terriers Book Two) by Jacob Chance is Available Now!

Title: ICED
Series: Boston Terriers Hockey
Author: Jacob Chance
Genre: Sports Romance
Release Date: November 1, 2019

Oliver Ice, one of Boston University’s notorious hockey players, has been on my radar since I slammed into his rock-hard body during my first week of college, three years ago. He helped me to my feet, muttered an apology, and ran off after his girlfriend, dashing my hopes of a happily ever after.

Now, he’s the bartender where I work, and this time, very much single. Night after night I watch the tall, broad, and sexy right winger mixing drinks and being Mr. Personality, while I remind myself how horribly my last relationship ended.

But when Oliver overhears a private conversation, he offers to be the one thing I need more than anything– my pretend boyfriend at a dreaded family reunion.

One weekend was all it was meant to be.

How do I protect my fragile heart when the lines between fantasy and reality blur with our first kiss?

My Review of Iced:  5 Stars!
One of the aspects I enjoy about the Boston Terriers series’ (both football and hockey) is getting more insight on the secondary characters; those who have already had their respective books, and this that are hopefully coming soon. This was how I met Oliver; he was introduced in a previous book. From the moment I met him, I wanted his story. He seemed like a genuine, loyal character and I needed to learn more about this interesting man. I won’t go into any specific details but I will tell you that Oliver is recovering from a breakup. One he didn’t see coming, so of course he was blindsided. I was hurting for him, but I knew he was better off. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have given a second thought to Ava.

Ava has also gone through a breakup. And while I thought Oliver’s ex was a rotten piece of you-know-what, Ava’s ex was a jerk in the first degree. So, while Ava and Oliver navigate a platonic relationship, their true feelings won’t stay hidden for too long. This book is definitely a slow burn. I appreciated the slower relationship development between Ava and Oliver that much more because of the pace of their growing relationship. Their connection was believable.

I definitely recommend this book. And while Iced can be read as a standalone, I promise you’ll enjoy reading it even more if you read the other Boston Terriers books. They are all standalone sports romance with a side of comedy and filled with lovable characters. I can’t wait for the next book n this series!

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it!

Curves AheadCurves Ahead by Andi Jaxon

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh, wow! This book… incredible, intense and emotional. Tragic and heartbreaking.

Andi Jaxon is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Her writing is magical and she is not afraid to cross boundaries of any kind. That’s right…..she goes there! I’ll warn you now that this book is NOT a fluffy romance! It is gut-wrenching, angsty and suspenseful. I’ll also warn you this book is heavy on triggers. While the most graphic of the abuse stems from memories, that won’t matter to your heart. You will be effected.

Alex and Kristin…….
The prior book to this one features Alex’s twin brother Alistair and Kristin’s best friend Ben. That book was also intense in very similar ways. Both books stand alone, however you will have a better reading experience if you read Learning Curve before or even after.

This is one of those times where I can’t say too much in my review. I don’t want to chance giving away, not even one tiny detail. There are moments you won’t understand, moments you won’t even see coming, moments your heart will break and most definitely, moments you will be fiercely angry. Not even justice being served will ease your soul.

Alex is a police officer. Because of circumstances in his past, Alex does not want to get to close to anyone. Especially a woman. He has a reputation of being with a lot of women which is one of the reasons, Kristin hates him so passionately. But as you know, there is a fine line between love and hate. Kristin and Alex become close and slowly become more than friends. One of the aspects I loved about this book was that these two didn’t become a couple until later; their relationship slowly morphing from enemies to friends to more.

I would describe this book as an enemies to lovers, dark romance trope with a huge helping of angst.

Kristin has her own demons. Or should I say nightmares. Kristin is dealing with so much and her reoccurring nightmares are starting to bleed into her daily life. Fear is prominent but she doesn’t understand why and when we find out, neither Kristin or the reader will be prepared.

I promise you this book has a wonderful ending, but not before this couple travel through the worst of Hell. I absolutely recommend this dark, intense, and emotional read. The writer’s flow is perfect: you won’t be able to put this book down. Andi Jaxon is definitely an author you should check out!

This is my honest review. Thank you for taking the time to read it.

📝My Review📝: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Ice Hard (New York Nighthawks, #2)Ice Hard by Tracy Goodwin

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Nick and Cami made a wonderful couple. Every moment they were together made me smile. Nick was such a gentleman. Most times when you read about Hockey players in romance novels, they usually are just looking for a good time, a quick one and done. But Nick wasn’t like that. He may have been in the past but for a while he’d been seriously thinking about a “forever” girl. Someone who could be his other half. The half that completes him. His best friend found the girl of his dreams and Nick wasn’t only happy for him, but he was envious. Nick wanted love. He wanted his own dream girl.

Cami is cautious. She is a strong, independent, sassy heroine. And she doesn’t date hockey players. Cami has a good reason for that as you will learn. But she is on Nick’s radar and he is persistent. But Cami is just as willful. I enjoyed the banter between Nick and Cami. I enjoyed watching them navigate an eventual relationship. I believed their love. They realistically worked for their happily-ever-after.

Another aspect I enjoyed about this book were all the “feels.” The emotional elements were poignant and believable. I admit, I was sad about a few things but the author did a wonderful job, all around, with writing an enjoyable book. This is the second book in this series and I look forward to reading more.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Duet Complete! Truly Yours, Book Two of the Mason and Sophie duet by Kennedy Fox is Available Now! ~ #ContemporaryRomance ~ See below post for my 📝Review📝 👇👇

Truly Yours, the anticipated conclusion of Mason & Sophie’s story is HERE from Kennedy Fox!
This is a friends-to-lovers roommate romance filled with drama, suspense, and, of course, plenty of angsty slow burn goodness you’ve come to expect in a Kennedy Fox book!

I knew within moments of meeting Mason Holt that he would change my life forever. I just didn’t realize how much.
As my world spirals out of control, he continues to stay by my side, protecting and taking care of me. Being just friends is all he’s been able to offer, that is until both of our lives are threatened. Now that our relationship is blossoming into something more, I can’t be what he needs even if I wished I could.
Bad timing strikes again.
When I think we can finally be together, someone threatens to tear us apart. I’m not the same girl Mason met three years ago, but I’m determined to fight for what I’ve always wanted–him.

The night we met in the dimly lit bar, she looked like a
brunette bombshell, and I wanted to learn her deepest secrets. With sun-kissed
skin and soulful bedroom eyes, she was pure temptation, and I was mesmerized.
As one drink led to two, I craved more of her playful banter and
taunting lips. Resisting her wasn’t an option, and we quickly became a
desperate mess of tangled limbs and hot kisses. She tasted like the sweetest
sin, but I was no saint.
Once we caught our breaths, and it became obvious that meeting
her wasn’t a coincidence, everything changed. Now I must deny her at all costs.

It’s all we can ever be.
After years of lying to myself and keeping her at a distance, I
want to pull her close. Sophie’s on my mind more than ever as my instincts to
protect her take over. Regardless of my attempts to help, she pushes me away
and makes it clear she doesn’t need me.

My 📝Review📝: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Fanstastic conclusion as usual by this amazing author duo. I absolutely love Kennedy Fox duets, even if their cliffhangers give me anxiety, lol. Let me say, here, if you haven’t read book one in the duet, you need to stop reading as this review may spoil that first book for you! This duet is not standalone reading and the first book ends in a major cliffhanger.

So, as you know, Mason got himself together to be what Sophie needs. After three long years of fighting his attraction to Sophie, Mason is finally able to move forward with a relationship. Then the cliffhanger! It was very scary to say the least when book one ended. This book opens right where book one ended. And let me tell you that my heart was racing in those first chapters. Yes, it was very bad. Kennedy Fox stopped at nothing to give us an angsty, intense and emotional read. There were some very graphic and frightening moments, so be warned.

When Sophie is finally rescued, the continuation of Mason and Sophie’s relationship was a bit halted because of what she suffered through. And do you know what? I appreciated that because it made the circumstances moving forward more believable. The situation was realistic. Mason and Sophie’s journey to happily-ever-after was easy to believe thanks to the author’s caring and talented writing. Truth be told, I don’t know how I would have gone through what Sophie did and come away with a positive ending. Mason was patient AND he was incredible with how he treated her. He never faltered or wavered in his devotion to Sophie or the future he was determined for them to share.

I don’t want to say anything more because you should experience all the feels on your own. I absolutely recommend this duet as well as the others in the Roommates series. You will not be disappointed.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Synopsis:  A Cowboy Under the Mistletoe

‘Tis the season for starting over for one military man turned cowboy in this new novel by the New York Times bestselling author of The Cowboy and His Baby.

Former Navy master-at-arms Jason Clements is down on his luck and calling in one last favor. His cousin has secured him a job opportunity as a cowboy working at Price Ranch in Wyoming. Too bad Jason has never even saddled a horse. If he can keep this job without his PTSD getting in the way, it’ll be a Christmas miracle.

Local busybody Sage Cooper loves Painted Barrel something fierce, but it’s time for her to move on. Since her father passed away, the family ranch feels too big for just her, and there’s no chance of finding a husband in this small town. To the rest of the world, she’s just another local fixture, known for her closet full of ugly Christmas sweaters and being perpetually single.

It isn’t until Jason shows up in desperate need of a cowboy crash course that Sage discovers a tall, dark, and handsome reason to stick around. And with the holidays coming up, Sage is in need of a date for a special event—maybe they’ll turn out to be each other’s best Christmas present.

📝My Review📝: 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

A Cowboy Under the MistletoeA Cowboy Under the Mistletoe by Jessica Clare

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh, I loved this book so much!
Why haven’t I read this author before now?
If I could give this book more than five stars, I certainly would. This author wrote in a way that tugged every one of my heartstrings. At some point we all say, “every now and then a certain book will come along and once you finish, you are left will long sigh, a huge smile and a feeling like you’ve been awarded something special,” Well that was A Cowboy Under The Mistletoe for me. A truly endearing, heartwarming, poignant story. I am absolutely going to put time aside and read more from Jessica Clare.

Sage and Jason…..
This is a story that you’ll need to experience each emotion your own, so I’m not going to tell you anything that will take away from that. Sorry, no spoilers.

Sage grew up in a small Wyoming town called Painted Barrel. While she is friends with everyone in town, Sage still feels very much alone. Sage made a decision that once the Spring rolled around, she would sell her ranch and move on to a larger town where she can start over and hopefully find love. With her longtime crush (never noticing her for more than his friend) getting married, Sage realizes she needs a change. It’s time.

Jason Clements has a story. An endearingly, heartbreaking story. He desperately wants to fit in, wants to finally call someplace home rather than jumping around from job to job. Employment is something Jason is struggling with due to his PTSD. While Sage had me sad for her loneliness, Jason’s story had my heart bleeding. That said, I really appreciated how the author wrote his struggles so I could experience them with him. I was sad when he was sad. When Jason was afraid, I was scared with him. And when he found love, I was teary-eyed, not to mention, relieved.

This book was so perfect for a Christmas romance.

I don’t want to say anything more other than this is a must read and I recommend you check it out when it releases mid-October. This book will leave you truly feeling warm and exudes that special feeling that is in the air around the holiday season. A Cowboy Under The Mistletoe has all the feels, and then some.

This is my honest and unbiased opinion. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

They call him ‘Wilde Man’. Rumor has it he’s an animal on the ice and between the sheets.

Synopsis:

HE WANTS TO LOSE CONTROL.
Between his parents’ messed up marriage and his narcissistic younger brother, Lincoln Moorehead has spent the majority of his life avoiding his family. After the death of his father, Lincoln finds himself in the middle of the drama. To top it all off, he’s been named CEO of Moorehead Media, much to his brother’s chagrin. But Lincoln’s bad attitude softens when he meets the no-nonsense, gorgeous woman who has been given the task of transforming him from the gruff, wilderness guy to a suave businessman

SHE’S TRYING TO HOLD IT TOGETHER.
Wren Sterling has been working double time to keep the indiscretions at Moorehead Media at bay, so when she’s presented with a new contract, with new responsibilities and additional incentives, she agrees. Working with the reclusive oldest son of a ridiculously entitled family is worth the hassle if it means she’s that much closer to pursuing her own dreams. What Wren doesn’t expect is to find herself attracted to him, or for it to be mutual. And she certainly doesn’t expect to fall for Lincoln. But when a shocking new Moorehead scandal comes to light, she’s forced to choose between her own family and the broody, cynical CEO.

Handle With Care (Shacking Up, #5)Handle With Care by Helena Hunting

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

How do I love this book? Let me count the ways, lol. As is usual for me, I am never disappointed in a Helena Hunting title. Her style of writing has always been the main aspect that keeps me coming back for more. Her characters are flawed and complex and while their backstories can be intense and even sad, there is always humor to balance out the emotions. This particular book had me laughing in so many places. Smiling constantly and having to explain to my daughter why I constantly have a goofy expression on my face. Never mind the glowing smile I’m showboating by the last page. This author’s style of writing is fun and refreshing with a ton of sexy banter and characters you can’t help but to fall in love with.

Handle With Care is the fifth book in the Shacking Up series. I loved them all but there was just a little extra something in this book that made this a perfect, all the feels, all the boxes checked, read. If you are a Helena Hunting fan, than I don’t have to explain. If you are new to her, then I wish you happy reading. You’ll love her writing and I absolutely recommend her as a must read author.

Lincoln and Wren…..
Wren currently works for Moorehead Media (Lincoln’s family’s company) as a handler for Armstrong who is Lincoln’s younger brother. Armstrong is a complete misogynistic jerk who doesn’t know how to be discreet or respectful. He is always in trouble and Wren was hired to keep him in line. Lincoln has been out of the country, intentionally for years. He doesn’t hide how much he despises his family but when his father’s heart attack forces him back to New York to take over the family business, it is Lincoln that will need Wren’s attention. You’ll enjoy finding out why, lol.

While Lincoln isn’t a business attire, CEO of a prestigious media company type of guy, he is a gentleman. Lincoln is intelligent and selfless and he is one of, if not, my favorite hero of this series.

I don’t want to say too much about how the story goes. There is a significant suspense element that kept me completely engaged. And while I had some ideas of what was going on, I was just as surprised as Lincoln when the resolution came. That said, the confrontation with the antagonist was one of my favorite moments. I strongly believe in karma. And I love it even more when it has a little push. Trust me on this one my friends…….this is a must read! Add this book to your TBRs.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
