Synopsis:

Contemporary sports romance author Britney Bell brings you a fun, light-hearted, short story with a smokin’ hot Texas Tornados football player.

Zane

No matter how many years I play professional football with the Texas Tornados, the city life doesn’t change my heart. I will always be that Texas guy who’s learned the value of getting my hands dirty with hard work on the farm, and I’m finally able to bring a piece of the farm to the city. Some people may look at this old truck as a piece of junk, but for me, it’s the memories that are embedded in each dent, scratch and chip to its paint.

Lily

It’s a good thing that the family business is my passion. The hours I put in at work do not allow for much of a social life. With the responsibility of the business currently being solely on my shoulders, there’s no room to even think about dating.

See what happens with two busy people, one old truck and a highway of endless possibilities.

Outside Blitz (Texas Tornados, #0.5)Outside Blitz by Britney Bell

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I enjoyed this sweet story. My only complaint is that is was too short! Just when I got into the book, it was over. While this is a short story, I want you to be aware that it IS A SHORT STORY, lol. You can literally read Outside Blitz in about 30 minutes. I have recently discovered this author about seven months ago and already read a handful of her books since. I truly enjoy her writing style. In addition, I appreciated how she created a well-rounded story in under 40 pages. Even though I wanted more of Zane and Lily, I felt the author gave enough that I enjoyed the book. Another great aspect with reading this short story is that it steered me toward Britney Bell’s Texas Tornados series. I’ve already got book one waiting on my Kindle and can’t wait to dig in. Hopefully I’ll get to see a bit more of Zane and Lily. If you are looking for something very quick to read with heart and emotion and an old truck that holds many memories with a few sweet stories to go with it, I recommend this little gem.

This is my honest and unbiased review and I appreciate you taking the time to read it. Thank you! 🙂

Secrets of the World's Worst Matchmaker (The Baileys, #7)Secrets of the World’s Worst Matchmaker by Piper Rayne

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Being a huge fan of Piper Rayne and particularly this series, I have anticipated Juno and Colton’s book since the very first Bailey Book was released. From the first Book, which is Austin’s story, we are introduced to a bit of the dynamic of Juno and Colton. Are they just best friends? Are they more but keeping it a secret? And most importantly…Why are they not a couple yet? The author gave us some insight into the whys in Secrets of the World’s Worst Matchmakerhowever it was nothing I hadn’t already guessed. Even the situation with Colton and Brigette did not end up surprising me. The author went back in time to give us glimpses of Juno and Colton as they grew together. I wished there was more. I felt as if something was missing. I really hate saying this because I love the Bailey’s so much and am such a huge fan of Piper Rayne but I can’t help feeling this book was rushed or not given enough thought. Conflicts resolved too easily; there wasn’t a lot of angst and I felt a lot of the book was predictable. Please don’t misunderstand. I enjoyed reading Juno and Colton’s story and it was well-written but from the first chapter, I felt there could be more for these two characters. This is just my opinion and you should make your own. I did have very high expectations going in and I expected more angst and drama.

While I kept going back in forth in my head about my feelings for Juno, Colton was amazing from the start. Of all the heroes I have read this year, Colton is one of my favorites. His patience and kindness as well as his loyalty to Juno were beautiful. At times Colton did come off a bit sappy but that was one of the traits about him I loved so much. He deserved a happily-ever-after and I was so relieved when he finally got it. So, all that being said, I did not hate this book; I’m glad I got to witness Colton and Juno finally become a couple. The last pages of the book give us glimpses of what’s to come. And from those bits into Sedona and Kingston’s stories, I am suspecting a lot more angst. I’m not sure which book will come first but it doesn’t matter to me. With only two Bailey siblings left, that means this series is going to be over and that saddens me. The Baileys have been one of my favorite series and I hate to have to say goodbye. If you haven’t read any of the books, I recommend you do. I would also start with book one as you will have a more enjoyable reading experience.

This is my honest and unbiased review and I appreciate you taking the time to read it. Thank you! 🙂

Synopsis:

He’s haunted by one mistake…

Kane Highwater has been on the run for over a dozen years, since he was sixteen. And every step of the way he’s carried the weight of what happened the day he left Last Stand. He’d reacted in fear and anger, and it had cost him everything.

He stirs her heart in a way she never imagined…

Lark Leclair admires the Highwater clan for many things, including how they’ve never stopped searching for their missing brother. As a former Child Protective Services worker, she understands better than most why he’d run. But when she spots Kane in a crowd at a national reining competition where her friend — his sister — is competing, it will take all of her experience, compassion and instincts to convince him to stay.

Their attraction is immediate, but Kane is certain he can never regain his place in his legendary family. Can Lark convince him that with her by his side, it’s not too late for a fresh start?

📝My Review📝: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Fantastic! Amazing storytelling! I loved everything about this all-the-feels novel!

Most readers have that one special book they are anticipating. I actually have several, however none has had me as impatient with the release of Lone Star Homecoming.. This is the last Highwater sibling to have his story told, to finally have his happy ending. And in my opinion, there is no hero, for me, that I  have read of this year that deserves it more. If you read any of the previous books in the Texas Justice series then you already know why I feel that way.

Kane Highwater has been missing, on the run for thirteen years due to a family tragedy that he blamed himself for. I won’t go into details here but I will remind you that in these amazing books we read, situations are often not how they appear. But for Kane, he saw the situation only one way. He lived and struggled for a long thirteen years believing he was guilty. Maybe he was a bit. Maybe he wasn’t. This author will have you loving and even protecting Kane no matter the outcome because he was so deserved of good things. Thirteen years of believing a certain way will play havoc on your mind when all the truths are revealed. Sometimes the truth is hard to deal with mentally and as a result, Kane was an emotional wreck, an intensely complex character. He couldn’t trust the love he was given by his family; Kane was in fear of what would come to end to the years of torment he was gone.

This book, or I should say this series has amazing characters. I love all the Highwaters and their significant others. Additionally, in this last book of the series, I appreciated the presence of everyone, the love and loyalty they all had for Kane. I especially loved Lark Leclair.

Lark was in social services by profession. She was caring, loving and protective of those she helped, especially children. When Lark finds herself face to face with the missing Highwater, one look at him opens all kinds of feelings. First and foremost, she was protective of Kane and became his liaison with the family. Lark knew that if they weren’t careful, Kane would run. And this time, if he ran, they had no doubt it would be for good. As I mentioned earlier, I won’t give away any spoilers. Every second of this angsty conclusion is worth the wait. If you’re like me, then you’ve been waiting for Kane for what feels like forever. Also, if you’re like me, you will be thrilled with the resolution.

One more aspect I’d like you to know is that while this book wasn’t lengthy, all the feels were there. Nothing felt rushed to me. I loved the anticipation of what was to come and nothing I’ve read in recent months left me feeling so relieved and whole-hearted than Lone Star Homecoming.

I definitely recommend this book. While it can be read on its own, I truly believe you will have an even better reading experience if you read the previous books in the series. Even if you just read the two books prior you will love everything about Kane Highwater’s happily-ever-after.

This is my honest and unbiased review.  Thank you for taking the time to read it!

IOUIOU by Kristy Marie

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fantastic! Not sure what I expected after reading the blurb. But let me tell you that this book was a pleasure, an unpredictable literary surprise.

Falling in love with a book is such an amazing experience but when you can equally adore both main characters, you have the best of the best. As I said a couple of sentences ago, after reading the blurb, I truly couldn’t guess where the premise was taking me. Again, another plus for me in finding a great read. And if those alone aren’t enough reasons to read this winner, read on and I will give you more.

This year thus far has been tough on me physically for a few different reasons, the last being the COVID-19 virus. I know that has affected so many of us in different ways. While I was sick, I was not able to read. I was constantly dizzy and tired. If I even tried to read, the words put me to sleep. More than once one of my family members removed my Kindle from my chest as I slept. To make matters worse, when I was finally able to stay awake long enough to read, I could not focus at all. I wasn’t able to comprehend a single sentence. But I am doing well now and trying to catch up with everything. Reading was a very entertaining and engaging experience. I haven’t read as many 5-star books this year as usual so I was ecstatic reading Kristy Marie’s latest. All the feels and emotions are present. Unpredictability was another. There is some suspense and angst as well as a supportive secondary cast of complex characters that I know Kristy will treat us with books for. Let’s not forget humor, sass, and intense chemistry and attraction. All aspects of this novel were original. IOU is one of my favorite books to date. This author has always given me everything I look for in a novel and this book has that and spades. (no pun intended. You’ll have to read to see what I mean).

I am sorry but I refuse to give you even a hint of what Maverick and Ainsley are up to in this book. One of my favorite aspects of reading was my constant guessing. I promise you will love IOU and highly recommend it to everyone who loves a sassy, but independent heroine and a broody, alpha hero who will keep you glued to every page.

This is my honest and unbiased opinion. Thank you for taking the time to read my review of IOU.

My 📝Review📝:  4.5 Stars

Take Me Anywhere (Cockpit, #2)Take Me Anywhere by Britney Bell

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4.5 stars
I just love this series! One of my favorite aspects of the authors’ storytelling is that each book thus far (Including the introductory Christmas novella) takes place in a beautifully, visual setting. I was able to see exactly what the author wrote. Both these authors were new to me in November when I read, Cockpit Christmas.. Each book is heavy with family dynamic. A close nit family that are loving and loyal, with each other’s best interests at heart. Always! I admit, so far, each book’s characters are my favorites. And at the end of each book is a few sneak peek pages into what is coming next. I believe it is Mason Parker whose story is next!

Parker Airlines is an extremely successful company. With the exception of the Parker matriarch, the rest of the family are pilots. And billionaires at that! Each member has a different personality, each with their own insecurities. In particular, Warren is struggling after surviving a plane crash. To get some perspective, and away from the pressure of his over-protective family, he heads to Clearwater, a beautiful beach community in Florida on the Gulf. Personally, I have wanted to travel there and after reading Take Me Anywhere, I am more eager to than ever before, thanks in part to the descriptive writing talents of this author duo.

While in Clearwater, Warren meets a beautiful, sassy woman named Ali. At the beginning, he intends to keep his distance. However, Warren can’t ignore the chemistry between them and the always present look of sadness in her expressive eyes. Ali’s sadness pulls out Warren’s protective instincts. Warren and Ali don’t get together instantly. There is a justifiably slow build to their relationship. Inevitably, with the attraction between them growing, it is only a matter of time before they can no longer deny their true feelings.

Warren has been through a tough few months. And while his body has healed, his mind is living in uncertainty. That said, he is just as sexy and cocky as any of his brothers, and just as persistent as his interfering sister. And still, despite his persistence, Ali was slow to give her trust. And truthfully, I liked that her ‘walls’ didn’t just crumble down in the face of Warren’s tenacity to win her over.

I addition to two great characters finding happiness in their lives and with each other, there is a bit of suspense and angst caused by an ex that resolved quickly and off the pages. That was where I had a tiny bit of disappointment. I am not fully satisfied unless I see that Karma did its job, lol. But that is just my preference.

If you haven’t read any of this series yet, I highly recommend it. After all the books are released, this series will go on my “binge-read” list. Each book can be read on its own but I highly propose you read the novella. It is a very quick read and introduces you to not only each member of this incredible family, but their amazing, fun and loyal dynamic. AND it takes place in a beautiful setting!

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Scoring Position (Texas Playmakers, #3)Scoring Position by Joanne Rock

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This has been a tough month for me. With everything going on in our country these days, reading a good book should be first and foremost on my “need to do to relax list.” Yes, I do have a list like that. However, since I haven’t been feeling well, it has been difficult to read. My focus and comprehension seemed to have taken a vacation and as a result, it‘s taking me days instead of hours to finish a book. Even though I’m feeling better each day, it has been difficult getting back to routine. I couldn’t have been happier when I tapped to the last page on my Kindle last night. Scoring Position was an easy read. The pace was smooth, the characters were all likable. And while the main H/h were complex individuals, this book did not have an overabundance of angst. So, for me, it was a smooth, enjoyable read about second chance romance.

Wes and Emma had a past. They were college sweethearts and could have easily taken their relationship to permanency. However, they had different goals so Emma thought it would be best to break up before their hearts were too involved. BOTH their hearts were already involved. Unfortunately, at that time in their lives, they didn’t fight to stay together. But now, years later, they will get a second chance. Unfortunately, the same issues are prevalent that broke them up the first time.

Since this book is not very long, and has a steady reading pace, you should read it on your own to find out what happens. I’ll admit, as Wes and Emma tried to navigate a new relationship, I really worried how this book would end. Sacrifices would be needed and it didn’t seem like either would make any. At times, I felt both Wes and Emma were a bit selfish and that frustrated me. But the more I became engaged in the story; I found myself rooting for them both. In the end, Wes and Emma did not let me down. The book ended perfectly for me. I’m very glad I got to read this.

One more thing…..Scoring Position is book three in the Texas Playmakers series. I did not read the first two books but that made no difference, being this could be easily read as a standalone; I had no trouble enjoying it. As soon as I catch up with life, I will definitely be going back to read the first two books. I recommend this to anyone who loves romance, likable characters, and second chances.

This is my honest and unbiased review; thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Synopsis:

We barely knew each other back then. What kind of chance do we have now?

Twenty plus years ago, I shared a magical, tragic kiss with my secret crush. Silver was every girl’s dream–and I was a socially awkward rich girl. We lived on different sides of town and ran in totally different crowds. When we bumped into each other that fateful night, no words were spoken–our souls knew who we were to one another. But life rolled on and off to college we both went. Never to see each other again.

Until now.

When Silver steps back into my life unexpectedly, my world stops. His looks have only intensified over the years, and when he says my name “Gin,” for the first time again… I melt.

Is my dream coming to life for the second time?

My 📝Review📝: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

SilverSilver by A.E. Gamrat

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

First, I want to tell you that I was on the fence between four or five stars. This book was written beautifully. Every word set the stage for great dialogue and the monologue gave me the perfect picture. I was there! I love being “in” the book, watching things unfold up close and personal. We all have heard of the expression, “fly on the wall.” Well, I felt like one. In addition, this is my first book by A.E. Gamrat. Though I have seen this author’s name many times, I never read one of her books. Yay for me to find a new author!

Silver and Ginny…..
These two, now forty-somethings, knew each other when they were in their late teens. Both had a crush on the other but circumstances kept them from doing anything about it. But they did have one moment that neither one has ever forgotten. Ginny went off to college they never saw each other again. Both living lives that could have been better. Almost thirty years later, they meet by chance and both realize in that moment that they wished they were more than the barely friends they were. While Ginny was free of her ex-husband and living on her own, she began to find herself; the woman she was always meant to be. I don’t want to give away too many details as you will want to experience these characters on your own. But I will say that at first, I wasn’t sure of my feelings for her. I know she went through a less than stellar marriage but she came off a bit winey and a little too independent. Of course, I understand the reasons for that having read the book but still, it made me a bit critical of her. After she reconnected with Silver, I truly worried, because of how she wanted to be on her own, that she might break his heart. But then as you read on, you’ll see that Ginny has many insecurities that Silver will have to help her overcome.

Silver is one of my all-time favorite 2020 heroes! He had such an amazing, lovable personality. Silver was determined that Ginny would not get away from him a second time, status be damned. As much as Silver was determined, he was vulnerable. Hence the reason I was afraid he’d unintentionally end up with a broken heart if he didn’t tread carefully.

Even though the chemistry and attraction was immediate, both Ginny and Silver’s relationship developed very slowly. And while I wished it would move a bit quicker, in the end I was glad that it didn’t. This book has so many realistic qualities and relatable moments for me. My strong connection was to Silver. If he was a woman, he would be me.

There are a great deal many secondary characters in Silver. Ginny has two amazing friends that I can’t help but to wish a happy ending for. Maybe one day in the future we’ll get to read about them. This book is one I definitely recommend to my friends.

This is my honest and unbiased opinion. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

NKAS teaser excerpt (1)

Synopsis:

Kiki

Ellis Atwood is the devil. Ok, maybe that’s too harsh. Ellis Atwood is ruining my life.
First, he demolishes a perfectly good wedding trellis.
Second, he destroys a gorgeous doggie wedding that I spent ages planning. (I kid you not.)
Third, he makes me feel all warm and fuzzy, and that is not ok. I prefer the cold and harsh way my fiancé makes me feel so much better. (wait, that didn’t come out right.)
Fourth, and there is a fourth, he gets me all wound up and flustered.
And last, when he unexpectedly kissed me it made me forget my own name, or the fact that I’m getting married…in a month.
Please someone help me out. I’m a mess.
Worst part is, Ellis isn’t the bad guy I first thought he was.
And being forced to spend time with him is making me realize that he needs my help more than anything.
So what’s a girl like me to do?

Ellis

I’m only in town long enough to figure out a plan with my brother on how to save our brewery from the awfulness that is my father. Oh and be in a wedding.
Where I may or may not be crushing a little too hard on the bride-to-be. (spoiler alert, I’m crushing hard.)
She’s really cute. Like seriously.
And she has the cutest job, she’s a dog wedding planner. (I kid you not.)
I can see why Henry loves her.
I can see why everyone loves her.
I can see why I’m falling for her.
I’m usually not a relationship-type guy. Call it picky or whatnot, but usually I get bored easily. So, my plan is simple. Spend as much time with Kiki (soon to be Faniki, I know) and hopefully get bored with her adorkable smile and sexy legs that go on for miles.
Then, I can save the brewery, be the best man of the wedding, and get my butt back to Atlanta and away from the happy couple.

My 📝Review📝: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Never Kiss a StrangerNever Kiss a Stranger by Logan Chance

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Originality, humor, endearing characters and the most adorkable novel I’ve read in a long time, if ever. Off the top of my head, I can honestly say this book does not compare to anything I’ve read in a long, long time. Never Kiss A Stranger was so much fun to read and the perfect distraction to what we as a country have been dealing with these past weeks. Including myself, my entire family has been sick which was the only reason it took me several days to read this amazing book. My head was so foggy, I just couldn’t get through it in one sitting. I can only imagine how much more I would have loved this book; when I am 100% feeling better, I want to read it again.

I know I always say this but this author has never written a book I haven’t loved. The fact he can write perfectly in any romance trope and genre is a gift I wish more authors had. I don’t need a synopsis, teaser or beautiful cover to know I’m going to read his books regardless.

So, this book? Yeah, you might want to read it in a private corner without your family constantly asking, “what’s so funny” or “why are you blushing?” I am a huge fan of romantic comedy and this book was one of my all-time favorites. A lot of authors can successfully write romcom, but that number is few and far between if you’re looking for a laugh out loud, adorkable book that will cause second-hand embarrassment and the most lovable couple, ever! Logan Chance gave me everything in this novel and I more than recommend it. I’m telling you; you need to read this book!

Without giving any spoilers, I’ll tell you that Kiki and Ellis’ first meeting set the stage for an incredibly fun story. And if you wondering about cheating, there is none! This book has a touch of angst to give it a more realistic feel. The pace is steady and the words flow smoothly. There are a few secondary characters that I wonder if we’ll see in the future. In addition to a great story, the author takes us to Florida, specifically Jupiter. I have been there before years ago and I enjoyed visiting again through Logan’s storytelling. Florida is literally my second home and if you’ve never visited, there is so much to do and see aside from the theme parks. Hey, if you’re interested, you can arrange a dog wedding with Kiki. 😉

We need more books like Never Kiss A Stranger.. Don’t make a mistake; grab this book. If fact, if you do, I’d love to chat about it with you!

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Synopsis:

Isabelle “Izzy” Harmon is home again. Literally. After landing her first teaching gig, Izzy has found herself sleeping in her old room on an ancient twin bed that squeaks whenever she moves. Sure, she loves Honeywell, Iowa but part of her wanted to move to civilization rather than return to her old life after graduating from college. Farm life is in her blood but so is the man who lives next door. It’s too bad he never saw her as more than his best friend’s little sister.
It’s true what they say… distance makes the heart grow fonder and four years away did nothing to quell the way Izzy’s heart rate doubles whenever he’s nearby. She hoped to get over it, but things don’t always work out the way we hope.

Nashville “Nash” Watson never left. His goal of playing baseball in the majors flew out the window the second he found out he was going to be a father. No regrets, though, because Nash figured he’d return to Honeywell, Iowa to farm his family’s land. It was the only thing he knew for sure. Well, that and he’s never falling for another woman again. Ever.

Never say never, Nash.

Due to sexual content and adult themes, this book is suitable for readers 18+.

My 📝Review📝: 🌟🌟🌟🌟

FarmBoyFarmBoy by Kayt Miller

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

For a novella, this book has a lot of feels. And when it was over, I found myself disappointed that this book wasn’t longer. That said, since I’ve been sick the past three weeks with my head dizzy most hours of the day, it actually was the perfect length for me. This is an author whose name I have come across many times but haven’t read. I’m so glad I read her. I will be looking back at her catalog for more.

It isn’t easy writing a novel; it’s even more difficult to write a short novella and put in it everything that a reader desires. For me, Farmboy had a good amount of angst, complex characters, and an entertaining story. Notice how I said, ‘complex characters’ and not likable ones? While I adored Izzy and Andi, Nash was a whole other story. He was definitely hard to like throughout much of the book for me. Of course, I inferred he would end up being the perfect hero, and was not disappointed when he let his walls down. He was truly romantic and loving, protective and sweet as well as sexy. I couldn’t help but love him.

I am not going into details, especially since this story is short and fast paced. I don’t want to spoil anything. I will tell you that there is plenty to keep you engaged; turning pages. If I haven’t been sick, I could have definitely devoured this in one setting. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick read that has character development, angst, and a believable love story.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
