He’s only got one shot at hooking her heart
Red Aldean has his sights set on his longtime friend, Emma, who seems more interested in her regency romances than dating. A renowned river, adventure, and fishing guide, Red is no stranger to a challenge. With his heart on the line, he turns to his trusty Texas guide to fishing—all he needs is patience, a plan and the perfect bait.
Last Stand librarian Emma Corbyn prefers to find her romance in books. It’s much safer. While she’s not set on perfection, she needs honesty. When larger-than-life Red Aldean starts wooing her, Emma can’t help but let her guard down. And even this bookworm can’t ignore the sizzle that ignites when he’s near.
Emma feels like she can trust Red with her heart, until she learns he’s keeping secrets. Does Red need a better lure to reel in the prize of his life?
My 📝Review📝: 🌟🌟🌟🌟
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
A brand-new series featuring many of the Last Stand residents we have come to love. Red Hot Texan is Emma and Red’s story. Beautifully written with all the feels and scenery of Last Stand, Texas; this book was so good.
I’m in love with Red Aldean. I knew from the first pages that Red was not going to be the typical alpha, cocky hero. Red was confident in most aspects of his life with the exception of his attraction to Emma. In that aspect, all his vulnerabilities were showing. Red is an outdoorsman, literally. He runs an outdoor excursion company where he takes clients fishing, hiking, canoeing, etc. He is a tough as nails, sexy, strong, brave and loyal man. But when it comes to Emma, he is afraid. He wants her in his life very badly. Since they were children, Red had a bit of a crush on Emma. But in the last year or so, Red wanted to be her everything, because she was his. I will say, I loved his approaches toward Emma. He was adorable.
Emma is not ready to give her heart away due to issues from her past. But being with Red has her giving away pieces of it gradually. For the most part, these two characters are honest with each other about their feelings. Emma made some decisions, I didn’t approve of, making her seem selfish even though I understood her reasoning. She wasn’t being fair to Red. Red, on the other hand, had a secret. It was a big one and could definitely destroy what they were building with each other. As a reader, you will learn what that secret is pretty early on in the book. Unfortunately, Red keeps putting off telling Emma, claiming it wasn’t the right time. And well, you can probably guess that situation doesn’t go over well in the end.
I won’t give away the ending because it was so perfect for this story. As always, I enjoy reading books from this author and look forward to her next in this series. I definitely recommend this feel good, sweet story. You will adore Red!
This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
