The spark is still there… and brighter than ever
Cowgirl Sage Highwater had some tough times growing up: she was the only girl in a family of five, and the youngest to boot. She lost her amazing father and her closest sibling on the same day. And two years later, the boy she loved down to her soul left her behind without a word.
Growing up, Scott Parrish had been the talk of Last Stand, Texas, and never in a good way. At odds with his family, he’d constantly courted trouble. No one seemed to care or understand him, except Sage. At seventeen he’d been given a chance to make something of his life. He’d seized it, but at the expense of leaving the girl he loved. Ten years later he’s back, but not to stay.
Is a few days enough for even a determined cowgirl to convince the bad boy-turned-hero to finally give their love a chance in the hometown he’s hated for years?
📝My Review📝: 4 Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Lone Star Reunion is book four in the Texas Justice series from author Justine Davis. I’ve had the pleasure of reading books #3 & #4. Since book #5 is one I am highly anticipating, I want to read the books I missed beforehand as soon as possible. I love nothing better than a family series that I can go back on and binge read. I’m sure this will be one of them. Last Stand Texas stars in quite a few series from Tule Publishing; one of my top five favorite publishers. In addition, this author, Justine Davis, is not a new author to me. I have read and enjoyed several of her works. If you love small-town feel romance with a bit of angst and some suspense thrown in and a satisfying happily-ever-after, I recommend this book as well as this series.
Sage is the youngest in a family of five and the fourth Highwater to find true love. Her story is emotional. Scott, Sage’s hero has his own emotional demons. I won’t get into details about his past, however I will tell you that I have never read a scenario such as his. At first, Scott’s situation didn’t feel believable and definitely not relatable. I couldn’t understand how any parents could behave so horribly toward their own children. But as I read on, I became engaged in Sage and Scott’s story, even wondering if there would be a happy ending for them. There was, and as a result I was genuinely pleased with how things turned out in the end. Very pleased, in fact.
So, if you’ve read this series or only one or two books such as I have, then you know the remaining sibling has gone missing. Kane left Last Stand and hasn’t returned for over a decade. The rest of the Highwater siblings haven’t given up looking for him. And in each book, they become closer to finding their missing brother. I personally cannot wait for Kane’s story. I suspect that book will be the most heartbreaking. But that’s ok, because with that heartbreak, Justine Davis will no doubt give us a beautiful ending.
This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
