The Matchmaker's Match (Man's Best Friend, #3)The Matchmaker’s Match by Nicole Flockton

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I enjoyed this story very much.
What happens when a one night stand brings you face to face with the one you expected to never see again? Well the first thing is surprise, obviously. Then there is awkwardness, of course. See the thing is, while Meredith and Lincoln weren’t looking for anything beyond their one night, neither has forgotten the other. But then something awful happens to Meredith and Lincoln finds himself by her side. There wasn’t anywhere else he’d rather be.

Once Lincoln realizes that he could be happy with Meredith, it’s all hands on deck trying to convince her. Of course they both have obstacles to get through. But all was worth it in the end. I truly adored this book, the premise and talented writing went together nicely to entertain and endear me at the same time. This was actually book three in a series and I haven’t read the others. But I would definitely like to. The author brings characters from the previous books to pique our interest. That said, I definitely recommend this book.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Synopsis:

He’s never even kissed the woman, but her son is clearly, without a doubt, his.

Zach McCoy has been on the rodeo circuit for six years and is making a damn fine living at it. When he comes home, for the first time, to be in his best friend’s wedding he’s got one helluva surprise waiting for him in the shape of a five-year old boy who is his spitting image.

Emma Kipling took matters into her own hands six years ago, before the man she was crazy about took off to join the rodeo. She didn’t care one bit that he was two years older and she was still in high school, she wanted one night with him before he left to compete in a dangerous sport. When he didn’t come back after she found herself pregnant she knew he had abandoned her and her son.

Now he’s back for her brother’s wedding, and by the look on his face, sparks are going to fly. She’s ready and willing to go toe to toe with him and give him a piece of her mind.

Emma's Rodeo Cowboy: Burlap and Barbed Wire (Burlap and Barbed Wire Series Book 6)Emma’s Rodeo Cowboy: Burlap and Barbed Wire by Shirley Penick

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book six in the Burlap and Barbed Wire series is finally here! I feel like I’ve been waiting for this book specifically. I truly enjoyed all the prior books in the series but from the moment I met Emma, and the constant mentions of Zach, I knew there was a good story there. Well, this book was worth the wait. I absolutely adored both Emma and Zach. Especially Zach. While he is a sexy rodeo cowboy, he is also a gentleman. Zach was kind, sweet, loyal and loving. Without going into too many details, I’ll say I was sad for all he missed. You know, those awful misunderstandings and assumptions we love to hate in our romances? Well this book has that. I’m just so happy everything worked out.

Ok, I will also say that while their circumstances were nothing I’ve ever read before, I thought it to be a bit unbelievable when first mentioned. But as the book goes on, the author does a good job of helping me to believe something so unbelievable could truly happen. And that is all I will say about that, lol.

Emma and Zach are reunited after six years. As you know from the blurb, there is also a little person in the scenario now. I enjoyed the whole dynamic of Zach, Emma and Tony learning how to be a family, how they could make it work. There are a few obstacles in their road to Happily-ever-after. But their love is strong. It always was and that was all they needed. This book is low angst and enjoyable to read. I’m very happy I got to read this series. I definitely recommend the Burlap and Barbed Wire series from Shirley Penick.

This is my honest on unbiased opinion. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Bodyguard To The Billionaire Synopsis:

Derrick Arlington is one of the world’s most eligible billionaires. Voted Sexiest Man Alive—two years running.

And I just so happen to look exactly like him.

It’s never come in handy until I get offered an actual job out of it.

It was supposed to be so simple.

Go to the Winston Isles, stand in as his body double for a few weeks, go back to my life.

But when our carefully constructed plan goes awry and the billionaire goes missing, I have no choice but to take his place and hire a bodyguard. The best in the business: a smart-mouthed, tight-assed, lady bodyguard.

Zia Barnes is the LAST thing I want, even if I need her. She’s determined, smart, and has no idea I’m a total imposter.

Good thing I have no intention on falling for her, or I’d be royally screwed.

📝My Review📝: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Bodyguard to the Billionaire (Billionaire Duet Book 1)Bodyguard to the Billionaire by Nana Malone

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this book! Need part two like now!
Bodyguard To The Billionaire was the first part of the Billionaire duet. Since I have read several books by this author, I knew there was a cliffhanger coming. I seriously took three days to read this book because I kept intentionally putting it down. I was not looking forward to it ending and having to wait two months for the conclusion book; I wanted to prolong my time with the H/h. But I will tell you that if you wanted, you could devour it in a couple of hours.

As you already know, there is a cliffhanger. I knew it was coming but still wasn’t ready for it. Usually by this time in a book, I have inferred where the author is going. I make it my mission to figure things out before the climax. It’s just part of my reading enjoyment. That being said, I wasn’t ready. While I have guessed at a few conclusion options, I’m not there yet. This author is amazing at throwing mysterious plots and angst around. Oh, and let’s not forget to mention a whole lot of sexy billionaire.

Without giving too much away, Zia, one of the King’s Knights and a security professional at Royal Elite, has been given the task of protecting billionaire Derrick Arlington. Prior to her official position as his bodyguard, Zia has already has the pleasure (not) of meeting Derrick so she is not happy about the job. Unfortunately, Derrick is the King’s cousin and demands his protection.

Derrick Arlington is arrogant jerk. Or is he? There is a lot going on and I am not going to tell you anything. Trust me, part of the pleasure in reading this book, is experiencing every emotion, every moment on your own.

If you are already a fan of Nana Malone, then you know to expect a talented and intriguing romantic suspense. If you haven’t read her books yet, here is your opportunity. In my opinion, she is a must read author if you love romantic suspense with a whole lot of sexiness, with a cast of complex and lovable characters.

This is my honest and unbiased opinion. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

When it happened again, she told me she could never love me because she was

We were never quite friends, not exactly

She never said goodbye before running off to

Okay, maybe I hated her for it, just a little.
Now she’s back, with no money and even more

Excerpt

I nod and
open the passenger door, reaching down to grab the strap of my purse.
I blink
when he gets out too.
“What are
you doing?” I ask, my voice sharp because I’m confused.
“I’m
walking you to the door. Do you have a problem with that?”
“But why?”
“Why not?”
I don’t
have an answer to the question. And since he didn’t give me an answer, I feel
like I don’t have to give one to him either.
But I’m
shuddering with something like excitement as we reach the front stoop of my
grandmother’s house. I stop and stare up at him.
He’s gazing
down at me with that same deep, warm expression I saw in him earlier.
Right
before he kissed me.
“Why are
you doing this, Marcus?” My voice breaks slightly because I’m pulsing with
everything I’m feeling.
“I’m just
standing at your door.”
“You know
what I’m talking about.”
He nods,
his mouth relaxing slightly. “I’m doing it because I want to kiss you again,
and I think you want that too.”
I lick my
lips. He sees it. His expression heats up.
It thrills
me so much I quickly get my tongue back into my mouth and swallow hard. “I
don’t know, Marcus. I don’t usually do things… just for fun.”
“I know you
don’t. But I keep telling you that you’re allowed. Kissing me would be fun for
you. And for me. It doesn’t have to mean anything more. It doesn’t have to
change anything important about your world. So why shouldn’t we do it again?”
“Because…
because I think it would… If we do it again, we’re going to do more than kiss.”
He chuckles
softly and reaches up to brush some hair back from my face. “Yes. We probably
will.”
“And you
think that can be just for fun? No… no… pressure or complications?” I can’t
believe I’m even considering no-strings-attached sex, but that’s exactly what
I’m doing.
That’s what
Marcus is offering.
And I want
it so much.
“Yes. I
think so. If that’s what you want.”
“That’s all
it could be between us. For obvious reasons.”
He gives a
slight nod. “Yes.”
This
confirms a tiny, lingering question I’d never even acknowledged. And it makes
things so much safer.
Safe enough
for me to let myself be tempted for real.
After all,
sex with Marcus is going to be good. I know it for sure. And if I can enjoy
it—have some fun—in a way that both of us agree will lead to nothing disruptive
to my life, why the hell shouldn’t I?
Why can’t I
be like everyone else and just let go now and then?
It doesn’t
have to threaten the security of my world.
I really
think I could let go with Marcus and still be safe.
He confirms
this by saying in a more serious tone, “I’m here for anything you want,
Jennifer. Anything. Just name it. But if it’s not what you want, all you
have to do is tell me, and I’ll never make a move on you again.”
I gulp. “I…
do want it.”
“Yeah?” He
tilts his head down.
“Yeah.”
“So you
want to try to have a little fun and see what happens?”
Somehow
I’ve made up my mind. I’ve decided. Everything inside me wants to do this, so
I’m going to do it after all. “Yeah. That’s what I want.”
His eyes smolder
in a way that makes my heart clench.
And other
parts of me clench as well.
“So I can
kiss you again?”
I nod.
“Please do.”

Author: JC Valentine

Release Date: July 18, 2019
A dissatisfied housewife. A gun for hire. He’s not looking to fall for his client…then again, he never had much choice.

Wife. Daughter. Murderer?

Faith
He was supposed to be my knight in shining armor. He was supposed to be my deliverance. But now he’s just in my way. I need him gone, but despite my best efforts, he’s still here and I’m out of ideas. It’s time to call in a professional. I just wasn’t expecting it to be him.

Declan
I’ve been in the business of killing for as long as I can remember. And business is booming. But I’m ready to leave this life behind, get a fresh start. After one last job. It should be easy, quick, in and out. But nothing is ever that simple, and I wasn’t banking on her. How am I supposed to pull this off when it means breaking my number one rule: never fall in love?

If this is the hitman, I’m in trouble. My God, he’s gorgeous. Tall, around six feet, dark-brown hair that’s just long enough to curl around his ears and is full of soft waves that immediately spark my envy, and a body that, although hidden beneath well-fitting black jeans and a navy cashmere sweater with the sleeves pushed up to his elbows, projects strength and vitality.

I’m momentarily struck stupid, standing with one foot inside the car and one out, staring at him. Until he clears his throat and I lift my gaze, falling into a pair of piercing black eyes that are filled with disapproval.

“Right on time, Mrs.…”

The reason I’m here hits me suddenly, and I feel the nervous energy that I’ve been attempting to repress all day return. Stepping fully out of the car, I close the door softly and stand there beside it, twisting my hands. “I, um, would rather not give my name.”

He nods. “That’s wise. However, we’ll need to call each other something. An alias. You can call me…Cal.”

Cal. This gets me wondering what his real name is. He looks like a Cal, I guess. I bite my lip, turning over different names in my mind and finding them all too common. “Brenda,” I finally settle on because we can’t stand here all night debating over names when we have real business to discuss.

Standing under a bridge is conspicuous as hell, and I’d die a thousand deaths if we got caught. It might be a brazen move, hiring someone to commit murder, but I’m hardly a seasoned pro. This is all new territory for me. I don’t know the first thing about any of this. Only that I don’t want to get caught.

Yeah, I should have given that more consideration before contacting this guy, but desperate times call for desperate measures. And I am, by the very definition, a desperate housewife.

“Okay, Brenda,” Cal starts, his feet carrying him closer. “Did you bring the coffee?”

“Yes,” I say eagerly, reaching for the driver’s door handle. “I’ll get it.”

“No. Let’s get in the car first. If anyone happens to come knocking, it’ll be easier to explain why we’re here if we’re together.”

I pause, wondering at his meaning before a picture of the two of us tangled in each other’s arms, his hand up my shirt and mine caught up in all of that luxurious hair enters my mind. I shiver with desire but quickly shake it off. I can’t think of him that way when what we’re here for is far from any kind of romance.

There are three things I know about New York so far: everybody is late for something, nobody has a freakin’ clue what sweet tea is, and King Kong himself is still alive and well and has taken the form of a growly blacksmith named Mac.

This is no shifter story and I’m not his prey, although I wouldn’t say no if he asked for a little taste. I’ve been saddled with interviewing the beast to secure my new dream job in publishing, but his intense stares and monosyllabic responses are making my job impossible. I just need to get this over with and move on to navigating my new life and career. I’ve got this, right?

But my professional and personal challenges are proving bigger than I realized, and Mac might be the only one who truly understands this game. He’ll be my biggest ally if I let him—and the way he keeps saying my name makes me really want to let him. The thing is, this city is known for breaking hearts, and it doesn’t care if you’re the new girl in town or the beast who calls it home.

I tuck my hair behind my ear again and his eyes narrow like something he doesn’t like just occurred to him.

“Where’re you staying now?” His voice drops even deeper and I can feel it in my gut.

I shoo him off, feigning a relaxed vibe. “Oh, I’m crashing at a friend’s place. I just moved here from Savannah.”

This earns me another of his slower nods. I’m beginning to understand the difference between the two. The curt one means, “Okay” or “Yeah, and don’t bother asking again” while the slow one means he’s thinking on something and is probably gonna blow your mind with what comes out of his mouth next.

And, yup, I must be brilliant because he confirms this with his next words.

“I’ll bring the delivery myself on Thursday, then take you out.”

Holy mother of David Beckham‘s backside.

When I don’t respond, because, let’s face it, my brain is still trying to process what just happened, he does one of his quick nods and starts walking back to the front of the studio. My eyes glue themselves to his ass in those jeans and I have to scurry to keep up with him when I realize he’s leaving and my boots are still nailed to the floor.

Without another word, we make our way to the front doors where he holds one open for me and I find myself back out on the sidewalk. New York has been buzzing on as usual while I’ve been lost in the Narnia of Mac’s building. The sound of chatter, car horns, and sirens are an assault, breaking whatever spell I was under.

Mac whistles and a cab stops at the curb in point-two seconds—without him even needing to raise a hand, of course. He opens the door for me and I know I should say something. I should tell him I’m not the kind of girl who dates gorillas. I’m not the kind of girl who can have a fling with a guy while he’s dating Charlize Theron. I’m not the kind of girl who can handle the emotions he’s stirring in me or pretend having a meal and owning a piece of furniture he created with his hands is no big deal.

But I don’t say any of those things.

Instead, I let him pay for my cab and shut the door with nothing more than a gravelly, “Thursday.”

Then I faint dead away in the cab. Not really, but would you blame me if I had?
