Blonde. Gorgeous. Feisty.
I was smitten. But it didn’t matter because she chose him and
he was my best friend and roommate. I’d never be able to compete with that, so
I pushed her away instead. It was easy when she lived hours away, and I didn’t
have to see her every day, but then she moved in with us.
Now, I’m screwed.
To her singing in the shower every morning,
dancing in the kitchen while she makes coffee, and doing yoga in our living
room, I can’t stop thinking about her in all the wrong ways. She’s not mine and
never will be, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting to push her against a wall
and claim her mouth.
She’s constantly on me for making messes,
bringing chicks home every weekend, and being a smartass when their PDA gets on
my nerves. Considering neither of them know how I feel, it’s not fair for the
way I act toward them. I should move out so I can get over her for good;
however, the selfish part of me can’t let go.
But then the unthinkable happens…
When my best friend dies in a motorcycle
accident, the two of us are left to grieve our loss together. Instead of
pushing her away, I pull her closer.
Just as we come to terms with our new reality,
she finds out she’s pregnant with his baby.
And I’m left to make the hardest decision of my
So, the blurb pretty much tells you what is going to happen. And while I was preparing myself for the worst, it wasn’t enough. Yep! I had to put this book down and cry my ugly out before I could continue. So, yep, I continued the following day because I literally needed that time to breath. This is not a light read for sure.
Hunter and Lennon…..and Brandon
While Brandon does not have his own POV, his part in this book is heavy.
Hunter meets Lennon (first) at the club he bartends at. There was strong, undeniable chemistry between them and Hunter was eager to see where it could go. Unfortunately, Lennon, due to insecurities, ends up going home with Brandon. You should know here that Lennon’s feelings for Brandon were real. As the story goes on, so does the relationship between Lennon and Brandon. Hunter is not okay with it because he wanted her first. That said, Hunter won’t mess with his best friend’s happiness. And so the angst begins. Both Lennon and Hunter are not easy characters to like through the first half of the book. I won’t tell you why but you will quickly figure that out.
During the second half of the book, we see Hunter and Lennon’s relationship start to change. They actually will become friends. They need each other now to grieve the loss of Brandon. As they grow closer, feelings on Lennon’s side start to confuse her. Hunter has always been an open book regarding his feelings for Lennon but he won’t cross any lines. (When I explain ‘open book.’ I just mean the reader knows his heart, not Lennon)
I really don’t want to say more in the way of details but I will tell you that what comes at the end was a complete surprise to me. Writing this review is giving me anxiety all over again. I must have the next book! ASAP! Well done Kennedy Fox!!!
This is my honest and unbiased opinion. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
