Trevor Lincoln is the legendary tight end for Boston University’s football team. As the youngest son of a former NFL player, he lives a life of privilege with an endless stream of girls vying for his attention. He always gets his way.
Until I come along.
Everything about him irks me. From his crooked smile and sexy, dark hair, to his obscenely large trust fund. But when we’re forced to spend time together, the undeniable spark between us blazes and resisting him becomes one of my greatest challenges.
Can I shut down his game, or will he tackle my heart?
*can be read as a standalone*
Tackle by Jacob Chance in the 4th book in his Boston Terriers series and I am hooked. No sooner have I dived into his latest, and I’m already wondering whose story this author will give us next. While reading Tackle, I experience so many feel-good emotions. Though mostly I swooned. Yes, I admit; I was completely smitten with Trevor Lincoln. I expected Trevor to be more of a womanizer but I was pleasantly surprised to realized I misunderstood him. In the previous books of the series he is portrayed as a playboy. Well, Trevor was a pure gentleman. I don’t want to give anything else away regarding his personality; you can determine that on your own. I will say this book was a true pleasure to read.
Trevor and Grace are introduced via mutual friends in the previous book. While Trevor doesn’t hide his feelings for Grace, she completely denies hers. It was fun to watch the banter between them as they headed toward a relationship. Another aspect I enjoyed was the slow burn between them. The fact they took their time was a plus. Trevor was sweet, considerate, and patient with Grace. Unfortunately, Grace was not having any of Trevor’s charming wit. She didn’t trust him and wanted to convince herself she didn’t like him. For several reasons I will admit, Grace was not my favorite heroine. She was rude at times; only to Trevor it seemed. While I did understand her behavior, I didn’t like it. And when a situation arose toward the book’s end, I was frustrated with her behavior.
As a whole, Tackle was an enjoyable read with a nice steady pace, well-developed characters and a believable story. As usual, I am looking forward to the next book by this author. If you haven’t read the rest of the Boston Terriers series, I recommend it. While Tackle can definitely be read as a standalone, you would only benefit from reading the whole series.
This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
