He’s always made the scoring plays, both on and off the ice, but this time he has a new goal … the one for Meghan’s heart.
I’m Justin Davis, all-star center for the Charlotte Strikers. For years, I chased the spotlight, not only with hockey, but through television as well. That’s why I decided to play the bachelor on Rich and Single. Unfortunately, I was stuck with a fake fiancée from hell who I couldn’t stand to be around. Now that our contract is up, I’m allowed to do whatever I want, with whoever I want. I plan to take full advantage of my newfound freedom.
After being on the show, people don’t recognize me for hockey anymore, even with just winning the Stanley Cup for my team. That’s why I’m spending the off season in a remote cabin in Wyoming where the chances of people knowing me are slim. Space is what I need, but when a down to earth beauty needs help on her ranch, I can’t resist. Meghan Taylor is exactly what I’ve been looking for, even though I’m not the kind of man she wants.

Getting her to see the real me has its challenges, but the more time I spend with her, the easier it is for her to see that I’m not the same guy she knows from TV. Being away from the media is one thing, but as soon as I’m back in the spotlight, I’m afraid it’ll change what we have. I don’t want to lose her, but I also can’t hide away in Wyoming forever. It’s a choice I’m not ready to make.

Off The Ice is sweet, sexy and undoubtedly swoon-worthy!

Book Four in the Breakaway series did not disappoint. I felt like I was waiting for Justin’s story for so long. Out of all the men in this series, his story was the one I was most eager for. Too me it just seemed like Justin was making too many bad decisions and not thinking with his “brain.” Yep, you guessed it. Justin was a ladies man. But not so much for the past year. Being contractually bound after concluding a reality TV show, Justin found himself in a horrible situation. Stuck with a fiancé that he detested. For a whole year!

After winning yet another Stanley Cup with his team, Justin is taking an overdue break. No longer engaged to a nightmare, Justin is going to hide from the over-watchful eyes of the media and head to Wyoming where he has recently purchased a ranch. He can’t wait to relax, hike and fish without being watched.

Being alone isn’t everything it’s cracked up to be and Justin finds himself looking for company. But not just anyone will due. Justin wants to spend time with a women he met at the airport. A women who doesn’t recognize him (or so he thinks). He just wants to live normally for a while. Only problem with that is the woman Justin is falling for lives several states away.

I really enjoyed watching Justin and Meghan together. At first they remained friends despite their growing attraction to each other. I loved how Justin was determined to not hurt Meghan in anyway. He actually showed a different side of himself when he was with her. Gone was the womanizing, playboy. He was careful with Meghan’s feelings. Justin was a gentleman. He was thoughtful, caring and put Meghan’s feelings before his own.

There are definitely obstacles that Justin and Meghan will have to hurdle over to find a happily-ever-after. This book has plenty of emotional feels. In addition there is angst brought on my Justin’s ex. But thankfully, that aspect did not overshadow the love that Justin and Meghan had growing.

This book was sweet. I read it very quickly as it was not a long novel. I loved that while we were experiencing the romance between Justin and Meghan, we also get to visit with the other characters that helped make this series as great is it is. I highly recommend this series. I enjoyed it very much and praise L.P. Dover for her writing talent.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it, 🙂

My Review for Blocked:
5 Stars…

Have I been hiding under a rock? Why did I not read this book sooner? If there is one type of genre/trope I love binge reading, it’s hockey romances. They are my kryptonite for sure. The Breakaway series by L.P. Dover has everything I love in hockey romances. While I haven’t yet read the first book yet, I have read books two and three and am excited for the next book that will be coming soon.

L.P. Dover has the talent for weaving a tale of love, romance, a bit of angst and even a touch of suspense. I found times that I was smiling or swooning. I even teared up here and there. One of my favorite aspects of romance novels are the dual perspectives. For me it certainly makes a better book. Being able to be inside the protagonists heads are important for my connectivity to both the hero AND heroine. So I was so pleased this book has all that for me.

A second favorite aspect is a groveling hero. I love when the hero of a romance knows he messed up, knows what he wants and will do anything to go after it. Even if he makes a fool of himself. The third plus for me is comedy. I was so pleased to see that in this book as well.

Dallas is a cocky man. He is used to getting the girls and you can assume correctly he loves women. Unfortunately his love for women will end up getting him into some trouble. But to Dallas’ delight, an “angel” comes to his rescue. And from that moment on he starts to see his life differently. Unfortunately, Dallas is not one to be taken seriously AND he may or may not have a couple of brawny, protective brothers to convince that he is going to be a better man. I loved the antics that went on between all the guys in this book. I don’t want to say too much regarding the dynamics of the team because that is partly what makes this book fun. Also there are many fun-loving, loyal secondary characters that bring more depth to this book.

Callie is a great heroine. She is smart, funny, independent and sassy. Not to mention, she can play hockey like a fiend. I loved watching her reactions to Dallas and his persistence to win her over. I felt the chemistry and connection these two had. And most importantly, I believed it. I believed that Dallas could change from his wild ways. And I absolutely loved that Callie made him work for it. Lord, did she make him work, lol.

This is a series I will be watching. There is a whole team of sexy, cocky hockey players that could use the love of a good woman. If you love hockey and fun, sexy low angst romances, I believe you’ll love this book.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

My Review for Playmaker:
5 Stars…

This book was so much fun to read. I just loved watching the arrogant, sexy Maddox change right before my eyes. If you’ve read the previous books in the series, then you know he wasn’t the most likable guy. I mean sure, he was sexy and rich and a hot hockey player but he was a jerk to some people. That said, I don’t mind because I believe that is how L.P. Dover wanted us to feel. So this way when it was time for Maddox to find his happily-ever-after, it would be so much more satisfying. And it was. Maddox truly had a heart of gold.

So I have to say that the blurb was a bit misleading. But that could be just me; the way I inferred what this story was about. I did not see some of the aspects before they were revealed and I am truly grateful for that. This book had so much going on. There were plenty of intimate moments but that was just a little bit of what made this book an amazing read. One aspect being my worry for how Maddox would prove himself to Lacey. Since the blurb already hints at this, I can tell you without spoiling anything, that Lacey and Maddox have met before. In fact they did more than just meet. They spent an incredible couple of weeks together before it was over. So when they meet again for the second time, things become angsty and full of tension between them. Once all the facts were revealed, I became Maddox and Lacey’s biggest cheerleaders.

This author entertained me. I was engaged in every turn of the page and couldn’t wait for Maddox and Lacey to find their HEA. L.P. Dover’s talent for weaving a sweet and loving story really shined through. Maddox showed me that he was a man I could adore and respect. I believed he was worthy of Lacey and cheered them on from the very beginning. Unfortunately, Lacey is afraid of her heart being broken so the development of their relationship is justifiably slow. And I was happy for that. That said, there are plenty of obstacles keeping them apart. But what great book doesn’t have some angst and suspense? In addition to having all the feels, there are plenty of secondary characters, adding charm and depth; some rooting for their HEA and even some against it.

The next book in the series will be about Justin Davis. He is a pretty large presence in this book, giving us insight into what he is dealing with at the moment. I can’t wait to read his story. It’s no surprise that I love hockey romances. The Breakaway series by L.P. Dover is one of my favorites. I highly recommend that you check this series out.
