“Mason!” Mila screeches. “Stop staring at me like I’m a piece of meat!”
I smirk, imagining Mila splayed out in my bed, her legs spread wide open while I feast on her like she’s my last meal.
“I wouldn’t call you a piece of meat. More like a piece of mouthwatering fruit.” I bridge the small gap between us. “Mmm…like a strawberry. I bet one bite into your sweet cunt and I would be addicted to your taste.” There’s a knock on the door and Mila moves away from me.
“Well…” She gulps loudly. “It looks like you’ll need to find yourself some other fruit to bite into because this strawberry has a date tonight.” She swings the door open and standing in the doorway is the anti-touch jackass from the other night at the art studio.
She says goodnight and they’re both out the door as quick as he came in.
“What a prick.” I sit on the couch next to Charlie.
“He’s okay.” She shrugs. “He’s a good dad and makes a good living. A little stuffy, maybe…”
“He told his son tag was too violent. He’s a pussy.”
“Hey! Don’t be hating on pussies. They’re tougher than you think. Just ask Betty White.” I grab the remote and click on the television, giving her a side-eye. “You know…because they can take a pounding.”
Remington Marshall is the kind of gorgeous who turns a smoldering glance into foreplay.
He’s the man of my dreams. The love of my life.
…And he’s the prick who burned down my family’s barn.
But, suddenly, the sparks are rekindling between us.
He’s cocky. He’s sexy. And he’s returned home after five long years to take care of his two young nieces.
So, of course, I offer to help nanny the girls. After all, it’s purely professional, right?
I should have known better.
When a man doesn’t deserve a second chance…
He’ll just steal a woman’s heart.

Hearts will heal, one romantic comedy at a time.

“Give me one good reason why you can’t be their nanny,” he said.
I’d give him the best one. “We’re not even going to talk about the kisses?”
Rem’s voice lowered, a dark and caramel growl that layered me with regret and shivers and memories.
“Must have been some good kisses if you remember them after all this time.”
I didn’t look at his lips. “You mean you forgot?”
“I made myself forget.”
“Because thinking of that night is the reason I had to put three thousand miles of uncut wilderness and five years between us.”
In the past twenty-four hours, this man had made my heart ache so much I considered popping some of Dad’s leftover beta-blockers. I wasn’t about to let Rem twist me up any more.
“No one asked you to leave,” I said. “No one told you to go. It’s not heroic, Rem. It just hurts.”
“Good thing I’m a changed man.”
I’d never wanted him to change, only to be honest. “How can I trust you?”
“I’ll prove it. I got the kids. I got the bank account. The cabin. The responsibility. I’m different.”
“You’re still chasing me.”
His hound-dog grin should have run me up a tree. “Can’t blame a man for trying. It’s lonely in these woods. Gets real dark and cold at night. I’m looking for someone to warm me up.”
“And that’s why the answer is no. We have a history together.”
The sadness kicked me in the gut. “We might have had a history.”
“Do you think there’s still a chance?”
“How could there be, after all that happened?”
He surprised me with a wink. “Then what’s the problem? Are you attracted to me?”
“No,” I lied.
“Then work for me.”
He smoothed that beard. Easier to see his smile. Harder to resist wondering how it’d feel scratching all over me. “What if I show you that this could be perfectly platonic?”
I poked him away with the broom. “And what would that prove?”
“That there’s nothing between us,” he said.
“That’s like leaving my credit card in the street to prove there’s no thieves around.”
“Not trying to steal anything from you, Sassy.”
That’s because there was only one thing left to give him, and I’d mercifully avoided that roll in the hay. “You’re out of your mind.”
“One kiss,” he said. “We’ll settle it once and for all.”
I focused on cleaning and scrubbed my way into the kitchen, hoping my hips didn’t sashay with every brush. He watched me, his gaze boiling over my skin.
“Why not?” Rem asked.
I didn’t have to lie. “Because it took me five years to get over our last kiss. I can’t spend the next five forgetting this one.”
“One kiss.” He edged too close for me to breathe, think, or defend my honor. “One little, teensy, tiny nibble of a kiss. I promise—I won’t even make a good one.”
“Is that possible?”
“I don’t know. I’ve never kissed bad before.”
“Then I can’t afford the risk.”
“For all we know, every kiss of mine becomes a five-year memory.” He towered over me, leaning in, his whisper playful and tempting. “And that’s just the kiss. Imagine what I could do with a touch. A lick. One night with me, and you might never forget it.”
“Or forgive it.”
“Good thing I’m only asking for a kiss.” He bumped my chin up with his fingers. “One kiss.”
“To prove there’s nothing between us…or to torture us for the rest of our lives?”
“You tell me, Sassy.”
He leaned in, capturing my lips with a playful, deliberate swipe. I gripped the broom, heart raging, pounding, attempting to crash through my chest and knock my head back into sanity.
Heat swirled between us, suffocating me in that woodsy, fresh-cut pine scent. Earthy and tempting and so much more than he was before. Everything was more. His words meant more. His eyes saw more. His touch offered more.
And his kiss…
Conquered and overwhelmed. My body pooled into softness. A murmur accidentally parted my lips. His tongue swept in. Gentle. Teasing. Wonderful.
His kiss was every perfect moment I’d imagined in the last five years. Every flirty nibble. Every sensual bite. Every casual, quick peck people took for granted.
In five seconds, he’d revealed everything he might have offered in those lost five years.
And I hated him for it.
And I melted for it.
And I was so much trouble.
Sosie Frost is no stranger to quirky, embarrassing, and wild situations, and she’s channeling all that new adult angst into fun romances.
From marching at the high school homecoming game without her trumpet (a punishment for forgetting the instrument on the band bus), to regretfully tucking her prom dress into the back of her tights before pictures, and even accidentally starting a chemical fire in the college chem lab, Sosie has the market cornered on crazy stories.
But hey, writing is a better outlet than therapy right? 😉
If you want funny, charming, and steamy romances, you’ve found the right author!
Sosie lives in Pittsburgh with her hubby, her two cats, and thrives on a near constant stream of gummy bears.
“One of my favorite books, ever!”

Gridlocked (Bounty County Book 3)
by Maren Lee
Wesson Campbell always says the wrong thing at the wrong time when under pressure. Because of that, he has a reputation for being a bit of a dumb meathead. He has book smarts and is a master marksman, but his common sense and English language skills (for a third generation American raised in Montana) are lacking. Because of that, Wesson can’t keep his foot out of his mouth or his mind off of Dr. Molly Mooney.
Molly Mooney is usually the smartest person in the room. And she’s almost always the most beautiful, but she doesn’t seem to realize it. After years of school and residency, Molly made the decision to open her own psychiatry practice in Imminence. With brand new contracts with the Imminence City Jail and the Montana Department of Corrections, Molly’s practice is becoming lucrative and much more interesting, but much more dangerous. On top of that, Molly has a secret and she decides Wesson is the one to help her.
When a client of Molly’s threatens her practice, her livelihood, and her freedom, Wesson and the rest of the Bounty County crew have to circle the wagons to help.
Will Molly’s secret be too much for Wesson to handle or will he step up to the plate? Will Wesson ever be able to say exactly what he means at just the right moment? Will the two of them find love in the only place they weren’t looking?
Read my review and find out how much I loved this book!
No safe words. No limits. No holds barred.
Sixty days of your body being used and abused and pushed to extremes.
Then you were free to go, no further dues, thanks and goodbye.
And your bank balance looked seriously healthy for the experience.
I should never have been tempted. Not for a second.
I should never have even thought about putting myself up for sale for sixty days, not after hearing the brutal tales of what happens to you.
But I had to.
My sister desperately needed the money. Needed Me. Needed more than I could ever give her.
I’d just never have guessed in a million years that soon enough I’d be needing him.
The beautiful stranger.
The dangerous monster.
The guy who’d be responsible for my pleasure and pain and everything between for sixty days straight.
And the man who’d want my very soul along with my body.
No holds barred doesn’t even come close to his requirements.
But I’m willing to give him everything.

After the betrayal of her ex-boyfriend, Gwen has sworn off men.
Her sister’s upcoming wedding and her new single lifestyle serve as constant reminders that she’s not where she hoped she’d be in life.
At the urging of her sister, she steps out of her comfort zone with a girl’s night out. Counting on disappointment, the one thing she never saw coming was the handsome stranger with capable hands, who lit a fire in her after a steamy one-night stand.
Love-wary single dad, Alaric, is starting over.
In an effort to be closer to his daughter, Alaric has sold everything, including the business he inherited from his father.
After all the upheaval he’s experienced lately, the last thing he’s looking for is another complication, but that’s exactly what he gets when he discovers the daughter of his new boss is none other than his latest one night stand.
Their co-working relationship is only one of the obstacles keeping them apart, but when their insane attraction causes sparks to fly, will Gwen and Alaric deny their chemistry, or will they coalesce into something even greater than their individual parts?
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This was my first book by this author. And definitely not my last. I just loved everything about this book. The writing was perfect. The pace was smooth and steady. Never was I frustrated or annoyed with any aspect. I had complete respect for both H/h. All around this was a very enjoyable read and I’m so glad I came across it.
Alaric and Gwen…..
Both these characters have trust issues. Both for very good reasons. I understood their wariness and hesitation to become more than a “one and done.” Fortunately, life has other plans and as a result we get a truly enjoyable and heartwarming story. In addition to the sweetness, there is a whole lot of heated moments. Yep! This book was a perfectly balanced, all around great read and I recommend it.
Gwen was betrayed by her ex. As a result, she lost confidence in herself and motivation to do anything more than find comfort in her favorite foods and her couch. Luckily, her sister takes control and forces Gwen to get out of the house. So she goes out and surprisingly has a great time with a guy she meets at the bar.
Alaric is a single father who has justified trust issues when it comes to women, all thanks to his ex. I won’t go into details because there is a reason for everything and as the story unfolds, we will learn the “why” of things.
In the meantime, Alaric and Gwen will soon find themselves thrown together despite the fact they only wanted the one night together. I loved how the story unfolds, how their relationship develops and grows. Everything aspect of it was perfect and believable. This book is written with both perspectives which I appreciate more than I can tell you. Being inside both Alaric and Gwen’s minds helped to be inside their hearts as well. They are both amazing, loyal and lovable characters. I’ll say it again, “I absolutely recommend this book.”
This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

Every book I read by Nikki Ash becomes my favorite! That’s right! Takedown is my newest favorite. But of course I know that will change when I read another of her amazing books. I’m so happy, that while I have read several of this author’s books, there are some I haven’t. I can’t wait to for the opportunity to read them. Nikki Ash has an amazing talent for writing a story that not only tugs at your heartstrings, but brings you sexiness, romance, angst, vulnerability and the sweetest of happily-ever-afters. Totally swoon-worthy endings!
Mason and Mila…..
We’ve met both these characters in previous titles. I liked them then and I love them now. Both Mila and Mason have different personalities. Mila is a single mom looking for a happily-ever-after. While she is attracted to Mason, that’s all it can be because he is definitely not “night in shining armor” material.
Or is he?
Mason doesn’t want to depend on anyone. And he most definitely doesn’t want anyone depending on him. He is not looking for a relationship, ever. He will never put himself in a position where someone would have to count on him. In my honest opinion, Mason was way too hard on himself. My heart ached for him. I want to add right here that Mason had his faults but I found him to be a loving, caring, loyal man. He was a gentlemen in every sense. The author is amazing at giving us not only Mila, but Mason’s perspective. I can’t tell you how much better this story was, how full of depth and complexity I found Mason’s character to be, having had a front seat to his thoughts. I won’t go into details because bits and pieces of Mason’s past are revealed throughout the entire book. And I loved that. I was too busy being engaged in the story to worry about the angsty parts. Yeah, I’m not a huge fan of angst but I know that a great book will have a perfect balance of it. Takedown was perfect in that aspect.
In addition to a great story, we also get to visit with past friends from previous books. There are always friends and family present on the pages. This was another favorite for me. I recommend you check out the “Fighting For Love” series. While each book can definitely read as a standalone, you will enjoy the experience twice as much if you can read them in order. Nikki’s writing pace is smooth and steady so you can devour these books in no time at all.
As always, I look forward to reading more by this author.
This is my honest and unbiased opinion. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
