POV: First-person dual perspectives
A story about first love, lost love and new love.
When his high school sweetheart dies before they can truly enjoy being married, Brandon isn’t sure he wants to let anyone that close again. He’s sure her memory, and their child, is all he’ll want or need. So when he starts feeling sparks of attraction for his daughter’s godmother, he isn’t sure how to react. Stung once by life’s fickle whims, he doesn’t want to risk his heart again – especially when he has an innocent child to consider, too.
But fate – and a hard headed little girl – have other plans…and they think Brittney and Brandon are a perfect fit.
Can Brandon find room in his wounded heart for Brittney?
Can he be persuaded to take another chance on love?
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Another Chance on Love is a sweet story of young love and what happens when that love turns to heartbreak. Brandon is the boy I wish I knew in high school. I’ve never known anyone like him during that time in my life and that was part of the reason I enjoyed this book so much. Apart from being the gorgeous young man he was, Brandon was smart, loving, romantic and a gentleman. In addition to these positive character traits, he became vulnerable and heartbroken. As the blurb tell us, Brandon found love and then lost it. But thankfully love wasn’t done with him. Love found him again. But, because he lost it, Brandon was afraid to trust in it again.
This story was sweet and I enjoyed it. I was especially thankfull for the dual POVs. I admit there was quite a bit of time jumping that I didn’t care for. For me, some of the flow and intensity was lost. I felt lost with character connection occasionally as a result. That said, I still read eagerly to the end. This was the first book I’ve read by this author. I always enjoy finding new authors to read and I would definitely read more from her.
So…..there is a happy ending for Brandon and Brittany. While I liked Brittany a lot, Brandon has a piece of my heart that is still with him even though I finished this book several days ago. If you are a fan of young, sweet love then I recommend this book to you. The intimate moments were clean and brief and I didn’t mind that at all.
This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
