Once upon a time…
Anna Brookes believes in fairy tales. True love, happily ever after and everything in between. But finding the right man is proving to be harder than she ever anticipated.
Sebastian Miller is carefree and living the life of a bachelor. Happy to keep things casual, he never commits and he never gives false promises…until one kiss has him questioning everything.
Just as Anna begins to believe that she’s finally found the happy ending she’s been searching for, a ghost from Sebastian’s past makes an untimely appearance and things between them begin to unravel.
Can Anna forgive Sebastian for his lies by omission? Can Sebastian let go of the past and finally move on?
18+ Due to content. The Ever After Duet Series is meant to be read in order and is composed of two sweet, smutty, modern fairy tale romances based loosely on Cinderella and her step sisters. Book one features Dru (aka Drizella) and book two features Anna (aka Anastasia). Deliciously fun Cinderella references are sprinkled throughout each story and although Elle plays a part, she is a side character this time and will not receive her own book.
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
5 Stars to Anna by Stella James.
What a sweet book! After I finished “Dru” the first book in this series, I was excited to get my hands on Anna’s story. Of course the author teased us throughout with what Anna’s story could be. I had a few ideas in my head but I wasn’t completely right.
With each new book Stella James releases, her writing only proves to get better with each book. I should know because I’ve read all of them.
Anna has angst, great tension and even a bit of suspense. In addition each of the main characters has a complex background story which is revealed gradually as we read on. That said, while Anna reveals the secrets of her past, Sebastian is not so forthcoming, which will lead to some trouble.
At the beginning of the book, these two are not friends. Without saying too much, Sebastian is the noisy, inconsiderate, selfish neighbor across the hall. Or is he?
I enjoyed the pace in which Anna and Sebastian’s friendship to a relationship developed. The intimate times they shared were so sexy and passionate. I strongly felt that these two belonged together. Anna was a very likable character. She was so kind and considerate. Anna hardly ever lost her temper. I wish I could be more patient like she was.
Sebastian was a great match for Anna. Of course he is sexy and unique in that he is an artist. I thought the development and growth of his character since meeting Anna was perfect.
Another aspect of this book I enjoyed was having glimpses into Dru’s current life. Although a small part of Anna’s story overlapped with Dru’s, it didn’t take anything away from the storyline.
I would definitely recommend this two book series to anyone who loves romance with a bit of angst and suspense. If I had any complaints, it would be that I wished these books were longer.
As usual, I can’t wait to read what Stella James creates next!
This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
