My Review:

TakenTaken by Logan Chance

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Stars to Taken by Logan Chance.

I did NOT see that coming! What an amazing book! This book was engaging, intense, sexy, hot and thrilling all at the same time. All the feels and then some. God, my emotions were all over the place. If you are a member of Logan Chance’s reading group on FB then you have been teased about this book often. From the minute Logan introduced us to Rhiannon and Xavier I was intrigued and not a little anxious to read their story. I have read all of the author’s books so I know he is talented with surprises. Again I’ll say it…I didn’t see it coming.

During this whole book we are slowly introduced to the dynamic that is Xavier and Rhiannon. Their relationship started in early childhood. Very early. They were best friends and loyal to each other. As they grew into their teenage years their relationship dynamic grew and changed as well.

Throughout the first chapters of the book we are taken back in time to watch Xavier and Rhiannon’s relationship. During those early years, and later ones, you will experience angst and tension as well as suspense. Logan Chance kept me guessing what was going on. I tried hard to figure out the plot. I really did. Each time I thought I was close…..back to the drawing board. I want to say so much more but it’s too difficult to do that without spoiling things for you. I will say that the ending nearly caused me to lose it! This book was amazing and I am so happy I got to read it. You will love the fast paced flow of words to pages. I read this book in one uninterrupted sitting and hated when it was over. I also want to mention how talented this author is with storytelling. What an imagination he has. I know I keep saying this but each book is better than the last. That is what keeps this author on my #oneclick list.

This in my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it.

Cowboy Up:  Synopsis:

New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Harper Sloan returns with a passionate and breathless romance about the sparks that ignite when a cautious cowboy and a once-scorned woman open up to each other in the third installment of the Coming Home series.

As the eldest Davis, Clayton has always tried to lead by example. He takes his job as head of the family businesses seriously, making sure the farm and auto shop are running smoothly—along with keeping an eye on his brother and sister. For him, there’s a time and place to let go of the control he holds with an iron grip. And with the way he grew up, coupled with disastrous end to his last relationship, he’s just fine with his quiet, solitary life.

Most of the time.

What he hadn’t counted on was cute, quirky, shy bookstore owner, Caroline Michaels. She’s the proverbial woman next door—well, the next town over, that is. Caroline hasn’t lived an easy life, but after escaping an abusive ex, she’s finally living it for herself. The last thing she ever expected was a one-night stand with Clay Davis, a night she can’t stop thinking about.

So when she falls on hard times and Clay comes out of nowhere to her rescue, she realizes just how impossible it’ll be to stay away from him. Now all she has to do is convince him to live a little…

Will Clay be able to give up the reins and finally settle down? And, more importantly, will Caroline muster enough courage to lasso him up?

My Review:

Cowboy Up (Coming Home, #3)Cowboy Up by Harper Sloan

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Stars to Cowboy Up (Coming Home Book 3) by Harper Sloan.

What a great book! A spectacular end to an amazing series. While I absolutely loved each book, this one is by far my favorite! I’ve never read a bad book by this author; she just keeps me entertained and engaged with each new book and I can’t wait to see what she releases next. I hope Harper will consider giving us more Cowboy romance. Her latest step into this trope just proves how talented she is as an author.

We already know from the first two books that Clay is the oldest of the Davis siblings. He is the protector. Loyal and sturdy. Clay is dependable and not afraid to do what is necessary to protect those he loves. I want to also mention this man is hot, hot, hot! We are talking sexy, alpha and swoon-worthy. Clay needs to be in control in every situation. While that could be overbearing, I didn’t think that of him at all. His need to be a step ahead of every situation only endeared him to me that much more. Truly, Clay Davis was a well written, very likable and swoon-worthy character.

When Clay meets Caroline for the first time, they connect immediately and spend an unforgettable night together. But then they went their separate ways. Neither was looking for a relationship having had burn the commitment bridge with past exes. However, their connection, chemistry and tension could not be ignored. So when they ran into each other for a second time, Clay was not letting her go.

This book has some suspense and violence. Those aspects only make this book better. In fact, that danger solidifies the love Clay and Caroline have for each other. I really liked Caroline. She was a strong, courageous woman despite what she went through in her past. I already told you how much I love Clay.

The last chapters of this book will have you biting your nails. It was amazing! I am so bummed that this was the last book in this series. At least we get to interact with the characters from the last two books. The Davis Family is loving and loyal and this book made me feel like I was part of it.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂

My Review:

Almost Easy: Plantain Series Novella 5.5Almost Easy: Plantain Series Novella 5.5 by Amelia Oliver

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Stars to Almost Easy: Plantain Series Novella 5.5 by Amelia Oliver, Kate Hastings.

This is by far one of the best M/M romances I have ever read! The authors did beyond an amazing job giving us continuous tension. Every aspect of this book was realistic. The connection between the two heroes was palpable and scorching. It was not just the physical attraction that was so pronounced. Nolan and Rupert’s emotional connection was strong and believable. I could go on and on about how amazing this book was and how positively strong the writing talent is. That said, this book is an addition to the Plantain Series by Amelia Oliver. Almost Easy was the first book I read in the series. As soon as I get caught up with my reading, I’m going to back read this entire series. Where fans of the Plantain series will be thrilled to have revisits with previous characters, I was introduced to them. Intrigue and curiosity about the other stories has me excited to read about these likable characters. Luckily for me this is a big and extended family and I can’t wait to dive in.

So….Nolan and Rupert are both gay. They first met when they were kids but their attraction came in later years. Nolan is a few years older. Of course nothing happened then due to a fear of sexuality. But the pull was there. Hidden, but there and strong. So when they see each other again after years, it’s no surprise the attraction is still there and even stronger. The good thing is they are both “out.” I don’t want to say anything about how their relationship grew and the obstacles they faced because that was a large part of why I enjoyed this book so much and I won’t spoil that for you. I will say there is angst, some suspense and a whole lot of hot loving. Wow is all I could articulate at his moment. 😉

The ending of this book was even more than I hoped for. It was perfect! If I had any complaints about this book it would be that I wished it were longer. I am not ready to say goodbye to these sexy, lovable and amazing men. I want more!

This is my heartfelt, honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it.

My Review:

Fire On The FarmFire On The Farm by Betty Shreffler

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5 Stars to Fire On The Farm by Betty Shreffler.

This book was my first read by this author. I happened to be in the mood for a cowboy read and wanted something that I hadn’t already added to my TBR. I won’t lie, the cover drew my interest. However it ultimately was the blurb that pulled me in.

I thought the writing was well done; the author did a great job of portraying the complexity of her characters. As a result, I loved some, liked some and absolutely hated one or two. The premise was emotional adding some heartbreaking, angsty and tense moments. I’ll be honest here and tell you I was worried about the ending. It turns out I had more than good reason to. Of course I won’t get into the details but I’ll say I didn’t particularly care much for the last chapters of the book and almost didn’t finish. In addition, I lost some respect for both the hero and heroine. Yes there is a HEA but I didn’t connect with it. That said, while I didn’t fall head over heals for this book, there were many moments where different emotions were pulled from me. This book definitely has many feels. I am going to check out his author’s page and see what else she has available. Just because I didn’t give this book five stars, doesn’t mean I didn’t like the author’s talent for writing.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it.
