In this second of the sultry, Western-set Coming Home series from New York Times bestselling author Harper Sloan, Quinn Davis might finally have a shot at her own happily-ever-after—but will she let love in, or will she tell it to go ahead and kiss her boots?
Quinn Davis prefers to live her life quietly. She’s the stereotypical tomboy with two overprotective big brothers who have always been there to protect her, especially from devilishly handsome cowboys with silver tongues. That is, until Tate Montgomery comes riding into town. Their first meeting, however, is far from something out of a fairy tale and only further convinces Quinn that men aren’t worth her time.
The only place Tate Montgomery ever truly felt at home growing up was during the long, sweltering summer months he spent at his Gram and Paw’s farm in Pine Oak, Texas. Now, Tate has returned to his childhood sanctuary seeking a fresh start—but if he’s being entirely honest, he’s not just back for the wranglers and Stetsons. During those summers, Quinn was a friend-turned-young-love who Tate lost when life threw him a curveball and he cut all ties to his past; but all it takes is one glance at the raven-haired beauty he did his best to forget for him to realize just how much he’s been missing….
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
4 Stars to Kiss My Boots (Coming Home #2) by Harper Sloan.
Quinn and Tate…….
One of my favorite tropes is second chance romance. Kiss My boots had me giddy and grinning. The true angst in this book was the past and the reasons Quinn and Tate were not together.
As kids, then teens, Tate and Quinn were inseparable. Best friends. Then they were more. A lot more. Promises were made, futures were planned. And then they were nothing. I won’t give anything away as to what happened in the past so you can enjoy the book for yourself and the rebuild of Quinn and Tate’s relationship. I will say that rightfully, Tate has a challenge ahead if he plans to win back Quinn’s trust then ultimately her heart.
I admit I wasn’t the biggest fan of the way Tate ended their younger relationship. I understood why he thought it was necessary. What I didn’t approve of was the complete shut-out. It was cruel.
When Tate comes back to town, I wanted to believe in him. I wanted him to beg, plead, grovel and do everything and anything to prove to Quinn he loved her and she could trust him again. Quinn was an amazing character, loyal, funny, witty and she deserved to be happy. Thankfully Tate did not let me down.
If you are a fan of Harper Sloan, cowboys, small towns, outrageous and loyal characters with a huge dose of soul-shattering true love, I recommend this book. As a matter of fact, I recommend book one as well which features one of Quinn’s brothers, Maverick. I truly can’t wait until eldest brother Clay’s book is released in December.
This is my honest and unbiased review.
