A free trip to Italy seemed like the perfect gift.

My Review:

Aries Fire (Fire and Water Series Book 2)Aries Fire by Christine Besze

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Cover: 4

I loved this book! Every. Single. Thing. About. It!!!

Aries Fire is book two in the Fire and Water series. Although it is a standalone, you will definitely want to read the first book as well, Leo Rising. The first book does an amazing job of setting up for future books.

This book is suspenseful, dramatic and complex in character development as well as plot conflicts. There were many twists and turns to keep me fully engaged. And…biting my nails!

Jeremy and Dani…….

We first meet Jeremy and Dani in Leo Rising. We knew that they more than liked each other but circumstances kept them apart between the end of book one and the beginning of book two. Dani was so frustrated with Jeremy constantly walking out of her life and never knowing when he’d come back. She missed him deeply and felt hurt by Jeremy’s hot/cold behavior with her. Dani finally decided she had enough!

When Jeremy was finally ready to claim Dani and give her all the attention she deserved, she didn’t want it. She was so fed up and done with him. Jeremy wasn’t going to let her push him away. She belonged to him and now he had to make her see they belonged together.

Can I just stop here for a minute and tell you how much I loved Jeremy. He was sexy, dangerous, protective, caring and a man you didn’t mess with. Ever. By the end of the book I was so in love. (totally cougaring right now 😉 )

There is a colossal amount of dangerous situations and suspense in this book. Violence and downright frightful circumstances arose at every turn. Of course anything mafia related is alarming. Christine Besze is very talented at writing this genre and I can’t wait to read more from her.

Jeremy and Dani, Theo and Sophie (book one), and Joey and Shelby (their book coming soon), set off to vacation in Italy. It was supposed to be fun, sight-seeing, shopping and enjoying all Rome has to offer. Unfortunately what they ended up getting was a mafia related nightmare. There are so many twists and turns that held my attention from page one. Having resolution with the bad situations was not easy. Each step towards safety was like two steps back to danger. While there is a great amount of angst and mystery, thanks to Jeremy’s love for Dani, there was also romance and erotic sexiness as well.

I am not giving anything in the plot away. You’ll enjoy reading and guessing what comes next on your own. I will say again that you won’t be disappointed by reading both and Aries Fire.

Can’t wait for Joey and Shelby’s romance and the suspense that will come with it.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentarily copy of this novel. My opinions are honest and unbiased.

My Review:

ScrewedScrewed by Luke Prescott

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Cover: 5

Screwed is the debut novel of new author Luke Prescott. For a first novel, I though it was great! Actually if I didn’t already know it, I wouldn’t have guessed this was this author’s first novel. Well done!

Shawn Tate and Jana Ray…….

Shawn Tate is an intense, arrogant jerk. He doesn’t care about feelings; he is guarded against all emotions. Shawn can be a dark and condescending jerk. A complete A-hole.

Shawn’s past is the reason for his dark attitude in life. He is uncaring and self-absorbed. We don’t actually get his past story until late in the book. Until then, he is a hard man to like. But I found myself liking him despite his faults.

I will say, however, along the journey his resolve to remain selfish and arrogant starts to waver. Jana is slowly cracking the stone around his hardened heart.

Jana Ray is a simple, sweet, fun-loving woman. She lives life, just getting by due to her meager financial means. When Jana’s mother and her stepfather go on a two week vacation, Jana is happy to house sit for them. But when Shawn shows up unexpectedly, Jana’s two weeks of relaxing turn into two weeks of sexual fantasies. Hers and his. Oh…did I mention that Shawn is her stepbrother?

The stepbrother aspect wasn’t creepy since Jana and Shawn never met before now.

While things heat up between them, over and over, Jana’s heart is starting to get involved.

That was not the agreement they had.

I won’t go into details; this is a fast-paced, short novel and you will appreciate experiencing all the sexiness that is Shawn Tate on your own.

That said, Congratulations Luke Prescott on your debut novel! You are now a one-click author for me. I can’t wait to read more.

So if you’re a fan of erotic romance, I recommend you add Screwed to your TBRs. Better yet, you should just 0ne-click.

My Review:

Leo Rising (Fire and Water, #1)Leo Rising by Christine Besze

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Cover: 4

Genres: Romance, New Adult

How is it I never read anything by this author before?! I could not finish this book fast enough! From the very first page, I was intrigued. Leo Rising is a fantastic novel and I can’t wait to read more in this series. There was romance, of course, but so, so much more. The suspense and mystery aspect sucked me right in. I really hated the couple of times I had to put my Kindle down. Darn ‘life’ getting in the way! 😉

Usually when I’m browsing for what to read, I try to read as many reviews as possible. I don’t like cliffhangers and don’t read them if I can help it. But I will if I have the the whole series in front of me if I am a loyal fan of the author. That said, this book had no cliffhangers but the series will go on with different characters.

Organized crime, mob etc. are not usually my first choices either. But after reading Christine Besze’s Leo Rising, I need to change my selection process so I don’t miss out on great novels like her’s.

Another fact I loved about this novel?…..

Perche` io sano Italiano me stesso, ho apprezzato il fatto che molti dei personaggi parlavano la lingua spesso. Because I am Italian myself, I appreciated the fact that many of the characters spoke the language often.

Tori/Sophie and Theo…..

Tori grew up in Texas with the best parents. (So she thought) Her ‘parents’ not only cherished and cared for her, they taught Tori how to defend herself. We’re talking guns, knives, and martial arts! That’s right…Tori is a bada**! At the same time, she is a loving, caring, respectful daughter as well as a loyal friend.

Tori had a perfect life.

Or so she thought. Apparently the one value her parents didn’t give her was honesty. The truth. When that truth was revealed, it blew up in their faces. Literally. And Tori’s house along with it!

Theo…..Theo had one job. Protect Sophie/Tori and bring her home unharmed. I want to explain more about Theo’s role in this story, however giving the smallest details will ruin the suspense for you. Trust me on this. Though I will say the author takes us on a roller coaster of mystery, suspense, intrigue, romance, some violence and the epitome of evil and immoral bad guys. My emotions were all over the place. There is so much going on in this book. There are so many characters that play some role in the plot. I loved everything that was going on! Sophie’s friends were just awesome and I can’t wait to read their books. Theo and his boys were sexy, alphas that you don’t want to mess with. Unless of course it’s between the sheets. 😉

~A great New Adult romantic suspense.
~Talented and well-though out storytelling.
~Characters that you will love and even some you will love to hate. I wanted to kick some        ass myself.
~Appropriately placed humor.
~Sexual tension well and truly felt.
~Intimacy was erotic and written perfectly considering Sophie was just 18 to Theo’s 22.

Theo was so considerate of Sophie when they were intimate the first times. He was an amazing and passionate lover/hero. Book boyfriend for sure! That boy had me swooning. Where were the Theo’s of the world when I was in high school?

The next book in this series is Aries Fire that will feature Dani and Jeremy.

If I had one wish for this book that would have made me loved it even more, it would have been to have an equal amount of POV from Theo.

Me e` piaciuto molto questo libro!
I absolutely loved this book!

Series:  Cloverleaf:  #1 Loving Liam; #2 Maggie’s Marriage; #3 Patrick’s Promise; #4 Dating Daniel and coming soon, #5 Chasing Chelsea.

Synopsis:

Daniel O’Brien wants what all his siblings have found…love.

Everyone in the O’Brien family has found their someone. That is, everyone except fun-loving Daniel. The last single O’Brien wants nothing more than to find the right girl, settle down, and start a family. After all, his siblings make the happily ever after thing look pretty appealing. Finding the right girl isn’t as easy as it sounds, though. At least, not in Birch Valley.

Hannah Belsky has come to terms that finding the perfect guy is merely a fantasy…

Hannah loves nothing more than a quiet morning on the farm with one of her many romance novels. She’s a sucker for a good happily ever after. Someday she hopes to find her own. It doesn’t seem likely, though, not when her family needs her. She’s been the head of the Belsky household and resident mom to her little sister since she was a teen, and the family farm isn’t going to run itself.

Sometimes love is right in front of you, just waiting to be seen…

Daniel’s been trying to date Hannah’s littler sister Nina for months. Trying being the operative word. Nina is like that odd piece that won’t fit no matter how hard he tries to squeeze her into his family puzzle. But then there is Hannah. Ever since the day he gave her a ride home, he can’t stop thinking about her. Their easy friendship and undeniable chemistry could easily turn into something more. Maybe even the something they’ve both been searching for.

Will Hannah finally take a chance on the grand love she’s spent years reading about, or will doubt and the burden of responsibility keep her from…

My Review:

Dating Daniel (The Cloverleaf Series Book 4)Dating Daniel by Gloria Herrmann

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Cover:  5

Daniel and Hannah…..

Ok…by now I am totally invested in this sweet series. Every character shines; main H/h and all secondary.

So this fourth book in the series focuses on the romance of youngest O’Brien brother, Daniel. I admit I was just a little disappointed that Daniel and Hannah didn’t have as much page time as I believed they deserved. Especially Daniel.

Daniel was special to me. He held a huge piece of my heart since I met him in the first book, Loving Liam. Daniel’s character was the one I found myself worried about the most. He was the sensitive sibling. The one most kind and considerate. And that says a lot because the whole O’Brien family is loyal and charming. Yes, Daniel was overly sweet and considerate but unfortunately he was the one most easy affected by negativity, especially when aimed at him directly.

Watching all his siblings secure in the love of a significant other only made his longing for the same so much more. Daniel was lonely. Even surrounded by a large, loud family he still yearned for more.

Hannah was a beautiful person; inside and out. Her heart was generous and caring. Everyone who new her, adored her sweet and thoughtful personality.

Especially Daniel.

Watching Daniel and Hannah find happiness with each other was so sweet. I know I use that word to describe so much about this series but I can’r help it. Even the scene set-up by the author gives the story more depth. The author is extremely descriptive in her storytelling. Sometimes, that can put me off. But not in this case. I was more than happy to be in Birch Valley with Gloria’s characters.

In this novel we get more on Liam and Rachel (book one), Maggie and Michael (book two), and Patrick and Amber (book three) as their relationships develop and grow. This is also the last novel written for now. Gloria Herrmann is currently working on Chasing Chelsea who is Rachel’s BFF that we meet in Rachel and Liam’s book. Also I have no doubt that we will get more romance from the O’Brien family as there are more weddings and hopefully babies to come.

I am really looking forward to see how Chelsea’s character develops. She is a shallow young woman but you can see she has a big heart. Her story will be fun to read. Can’t wait. Hopefully it won’t be too long. (hint hint 🙂 )

My Review:

Patrick's Promise (Cloverleaf #3)Patrick’s Promise by Gloria Herrmann

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Cover: 5

Patrick and Amber…..

Cloverleaf continues with the third book, Patrick’s Promise. Of all the O’Brien siblings, it was Patrick’s story I was most anticipating. Patrick is the oldest; nearly 40. He is also the one with a heartbreaking past. For the past four years, he has lived with the grief of tragically losing his wife. Beth died as a result of a car accident. But thank God the doctors were able to save the babies (twins) she was pregnant with. Finn and Cooper.

Patrick has never been able to let go of his grief and pain. He is understandably moody and his family walks on egg shells around him.

Amber Miller returns to Birch Valley to help with her family diner. Her father has been sick and her parents need her. Amber is worried about her father being ill, however she plans to use this opportunity for herself to heal. You see…Amber has also lost a spouse tragically. Her husband died two years ago. She too is still grieving, along with her preteen son.

Patrick and Amber are instantly attracted to each other which comes as a surprise to them both. Neither was looking for another relationship. Fortunately they are the perfect medicine to help each other open up and heal their hearts. This is not something that happens quickly or easily. As a matter of fact, guilt plays a big part of causing Patrick to put emotional distance between them. Like that would even work. Once Patrick realizes how much he cares for Amber, they are able to move forward. Together. I liked Patrick; he was an amazing brother and father. Protective of those he loved. But I really adored Amber. For all that she had been through and give the fact she only had half the time to grieve that Patrick had, she was emotional strong. She saw a chance at love again and was willing to take it.

The ending of the book was good, a happy for now. However, we will hear more from Patrick and Amber as well as other characters in the next book, Dating Daniel.

Patrick’s Promise was another heartwarming, sweet and romantic addition to the Cloverleaf series.

My Review:

Maggie's Marriage (Cloverleaf #2)Maggie’s Marriage by Gloria Herrmann

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Cover: 4

Maggie and Michael…..

The second book in the Cloverleaf series continues with Maggie’s Marriage. If you read book one, Loving Liam, than you already guessed that Maggie was having some stressful issues in her marriage with Michael Trembley.

Maggie and Michael have been married nearly eight years and have an adorable daughter named Melanie. Unlike the rest of the O’Brien family, who calls Birch Valley home, Maggie lives five hours away in Seattle. Michael is a lawyer who has been trying for the past several years to impress his bosses so that he will be offered a partnership in the law firm. He has been working non-stop, sacrificing family time and missing out on so much. Maggie and Melanie miss his presence deeply. Unfortunately, Michael is too involved with work to take notice. No matter how many times Maggie has discussed the situation with him, the answer is always the same. “I’m doing this for our future.” Maggie is just so worried that they won’t have a future.

When Maggie can no longer take Michael’s absences and broken promises, she seeks a change and the support of her family in Birch Valley.

Michael will eventually come to his senses however it is not a fast and easy fix. I loved watching the dynamic between Maggie and Michael evolve positively. But as I stated, the journey wasn’t easy.

In this book, we also have a continuation of Liam and Rachel’s relationship. (Loving Liam) We are also given glimpses of other members of the O’Brien family as well and we are able to read about some of their own thoughts and feelings through their own perspectives.

This romance was delightfully sweet and clean. I was touched with many different emotions. If I was asked what would make me enjoy this book even more, it would have been to have more POV from Michael.

But still…it was a beautiful storytelling of love, faith and family.

Next up in the series is Patrick’s Promise. Patrick is the oldest sibling in the O’Brien family. He is also the one I believe is most in need of healing.

Synopsis:

Rachel Montgomery’s family doesn’t think she can change—but she’s going to prove them wrong…

What could be more out of character for overly-cautious Rachel than moving sight unseen to the small town of Birch Valley to become the principal of the town’s only elementary school? When she arrives late on her first day, she realizes no one was expecting her, leading to conflict with the staff—and particularly with one handsome, emerald-eyed fourth grade teacher.

Liam O’Brien’s life is simple and easygoing, just the way he likes it—until he shows up for school following the holiday break…

Not only is his new boss the rude woman who stole his parking spot, she’s highly motivated to switch things up in his very traditional school, and Liam is not a fan of change. His inexplicable attraction to the petite blonde complicates matters, as Rachel is adamant that she didn’t move all the way to Birch Valley to get involved in any kind of romance.

But as conflicts are resolved, family ties might draw Liam and Rachel together…

Rachel discovers Liam’s family is loving and supportive, particularly his mother Mary—unlike Rachel’s own mother. She bonds with his brothers and his sister Maggie, and it almost seems too good to be true.

Can they work through their differences and compromise enough to build a lasting relationship?

Or will Rachel be unable to let her guard down long enough to take a chance on…

Loving Liam.

My Review:

Loving Liam (Cloverleaf #1)Loving Liam by Gloria Herrmann

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Liam and Rachel…..

This novel pulled at all my heart-strings. At the time of my writing Loving Liam’s review, I admit to having just finished the series. (except for Chasing Chelsea which is coming soon) I was just so engrossed that I didn’t want to stop reading until I was done with them all. That said, I realize I will have to be careful writing this review without giving too much away. You see, this book has a happy ending however Liam and Rachel’s story will continue with each new book in the series. The continuation of their relationship will develop and grow over time. In fact, we will have written perspectives from several other characters as well.

Liam and Rachel’s story was not a typical angsty romance with an HEA. There is more to their tale. After I reached about 25%, I realized this book was written differently than what I had expected. That is not a complaint. Liam and Rachel don’t actually meet until around 30% in. Before that, we are given pictures into their current lives, the types of people they are, their families, and friends.

Liam and Rachel were opposites in many ways. And although there is chemistry and attraction between them, they did not get off to a good start. I would describe their relationship as love/hate.

Liam was a a great hero. He was family oriented, respectful, smart and morally strong. His values were impressive and we don’t always read about guys like Liam. Of course he was gorgeous and sexy, too.

Rachel decided something was missing from her life so she wanted to make a change. She accepted a job as an elementary school principal in a small, picturesque Washington town. Rachel was thrilled with her new job. She wanted to make the school even better so she made some small changes. These changes didn’t sit well with many of the teachers. Especially one fourth grade teacher in particular.

Liam is angry with the new principal. Who does she think she is to come in his school and try to change things? Rachel and Liam did not meet eye-to-eye and their personalities clashed repeatedly. However their shared anger only seemed to intensify and fuel the chemistry between them.

But of course as time goes by, their feelings for each other grow and change as well. But are they able to make a relationship work when there are significant issues between them? The most prominent being…..Rachel is Liam’s boss.

Another factor I enjoyed in this book was Liam’s family. They were perfect. Liam has two brothers, Patrick who is older and Daniel, his younger one. His sister Maggie is the youngest of the O’Brien siblings. There are nephews and a niece as well that add charm to the story. Liam’s mother was the big-hearted and compassionate matriarch of the family. The entire O’Brien family was delightful and charming. I often found myself wishing I was invited to their traditional Sunday dinners..

This novel was sweet; a clean romance. I could actually see this charming family starring in their own Hallmark mini-series. You will enjoy seeing what comes next for them.

One more point I’d like to add was how picturesque the monologue was. It was very easy to tell by the attention to details given that Gloria Herrmann is a talented storyteller. I was able to see and feel and this made the story that much more enjoyable.
