Release Blitz and my Review For: Ruthless by Gina L. Maxwell

30305489

Synopsis:

People call me Ruthless for a reason.

Whether I’m in the court room or in the bedroom, my reputation is well-earned. I’m either working hard, working out, or working my way into some woman’s panties. But none of them share my particular kink, and I walk away feeling unsatisfied.

Until I met her.

She’s a friend of a friend, which makes her off-limits in my book. But then temptation had me by the balls and I had her up against a wall. She literally fucked my world off its axis, but it can’t happen again.

My plan was avoidance, but that got blown to shit when my firm hired her as a new junior attorney. Now I’m her boss, and I’m supposed to act like I don’t want to bend her over my desk every five minutes.

But I’ve never held myself back with anything before, so consequences be damned. It’s time to take what I want and show her how damn good it feels…to be ruthless.

ruthless-teaser-1

Excerpt:

My fingers are clutching his shirt at his lower back like he’s my lifeline. I know if I let go, I’ll fall. Further under his spell, further into the oblivion of pleasure he’s promising with his taboo whispers. So I’m holding on, keeping myself grounded in the moment with the feeling of starched cotton pressed into my palms.

But there’s a voice in my head urging me to let go, and a big part of me—more than I’m willing to admit in this moment—that desperately wants to. I want to fall with this man who’s dominated my fantasies for months. Why not let him dominate me for real, like I’ve imagined at night with my eyes closed and my hand between my legs? All I have to do is be brave enough to trust that he’ll be there to catch me…and let go.

ruthless-teaser-4

“Addison Paige is a master at showing the world what she wants it to see. Much like myself, the woman has different sides—Addison, the ambitious professional, and Addie, the devil-may-care party girl. But there’s another side to her she keeps hidden behind the walls she’s built. The side that’s stripped of her masks.”

ruthless-teaser-3

“I’d let Addison soften my heart. So much that it didn’t even put up a fight when she ripped it from my chest.”

My Review:

Ruthless (Playboys in Love, #2)Ruthless by Gina L. Maxwell

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

One of the best I’ve read this month so far!

“Ruthless” (Playboys In Love #2) by author Gina L Maxwell.
Release Day: January 30, 2017
My Rating: 5
Cover: 5

I could kick myself for never reading this author before now. Well in my own defense, there are so many great authors around, I don’t always come across many of them unless I’m browsing. So Thank you social media for that. Especially Instagram! But in this instance the book found me. Yea!! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. If you don’t yet have it on your TBR, you need to check it out!

Just wow! This book will get your blood heating. I loved it from the first page to the last. Ruthless was sexy and sinful, with smoking hot intimacy. The characters were sexy and lovable. Roman was arrogant while Addie was sassy and independent. The dialogue was witty and
dirty. The monologue gave us the perfect images of the complexity of these characters. I loved it so much that I put the rest of the series on my TBR. Having started the series with book two, I have some catching up to do.

ruthless-teaser-2

Roman and Addie…..

Roman is an attorney by day. But when it’s playtime, he dances, he strips, he makes women all around him wet their panties. And when Roman picks one to ‘play’ with? Damn what a lucky girl! Roman gets what and who he wants. Except for one woman. Oh he wants her alright but he can’t have her. What makes the situation more difficult is that she wants him too. Unfortunately, she falls under one of Roman’s ‘do not touch’ rules. Addie is a friend of a good friend. No can do.

Addie…from the moment she sets her eyes on Roman, Addie is determined to have him. The hell with his stupid moral rules of ‘friend code.’ Addie is not deterred by Roman’s rule. In fact she is more determined than ever to have him. Addie loves a challenge. She will change his mind.

Addie is way too sexy and Roaman finds his resolve obliterated. But it’s just a one-and-done, right? So it shouldn’t be a big deal as long as they are on the same page. They will have their one night and move on. They don’t ever have to see each other again. Right?

When it turns out that Addie will be working for Roman they are both surprised. Unfortunately neither can seem to remember their promise to each other of one night. Things get complicated real fast. Roman likes a structured world and having Addie so close turns that world on its axis. Roman loses his resolve a second time. And many more times after that.

Roman and Addie are so good together; they have scorching hot chemistry. There is always sexual tension when they are in the same room together. Roman has very particular kinks which is why he has never stayed with any woman. Addie surprises and excites him when she voices her acceptance of his tastes. She wants to keep him so she is willing to try whatever he likes. And just wow! She was a lucky, lucky girl.

Addie and Roman are perfect for each other. The sex and intimacy between them was off the charts. I was so engrossed in every moment having read it in one sitting. They were so perfect as a couple that I just knew something was going to happen to ruin it.

Roman, Roman, Roman.

Roman ended up hurting Addie all because of a misunderstanding. But he hurt himself just as badly.

I just loved how it all turned out. The ending was amazing. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series, especially Austin’s book. I looooooved him!!!!

Read:  October 25, 2014

Reread:  November 2015

Reread:  February 2016

Told in dual POVs

Standalone

Series:  Inked Brotherhood:  Kiss Me Goodbye: prequel to Asher #0.5; Asher; Tyler; Zane; What I want for Christmas: Zane and Dakota Short Story; Dylan; Rafe; and Inked Babies Epilogue

Synopsis:

From the USA Today and New York Times bestselling author Jo Raven comes the third installment in the Inked Brotherhood series which began with ASHER.

They call me Zen-man, the cool-headed one, the protector. I keep an eye out for everyone, take them in, find them homes. They think I’m the calm and collected one, the self-assured one, the one who knows the way. They think they see me. They think they know me.

But they’re all wrong, because inside I’m broken. I have a jagged hole in my soul I can’t fix, a festering blackness. I’ve been to the pits of hell, and nobody comes back unscathed. Life in foster care fucked me up, and now a thread is all that’s holding me together.

So I sleep around and never date, keeping chicks away. One day I’ll snap, and when I do, there’s no telling who I might take down with me.

All the same, there’s this one girl who won’t be scared away. Dakota. She’s hot, and I won’t deny I want her. But she keeps coming back, pushing me, trying to get me to talk, to open up to her.

She has no idea she’s playing with fire. When the demons come, she’d better be far away from me, just like everyone else.

Standalone novel. No cliffhanger.

*Warning: this book contains graphic language, sex, and violence. Mature readers only. Not intended for young readers.*

Inked Brotherhood Series:

Five boys brought together by fate. Five young men trying to overcome their troubled pasts. Five tattoos marking them as a brotherhood built on tragedy. Will they find understanding and rise above the pain?

Five girls tied by friendship. Five young women fighting their own demons. Five lives laced with sorrow. Will they be strong enough to save the men they love and make them happy?

My Review:

Zane (Inked Brotherhood, #3)Zane by Jo Raven

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“Zane” Inked Brotherhood #3 is by author Jo Raven.

I can’t get enough of Jo Raven’s tortured bad boys. My heart breaks every time I read about one of them. Each book in this series guts me. My thoughts are always, ‘this can’t possibly get worse.’ Jo Raven proves me wrong every time.

First I want to say that although I originally read this book when it first released in 2014, I have since reread it twice more. The Inked Brotherhood is one of those series for me that I reread in order to keep it fresh in my mind. I don’t ever want to lose touch with these men. I know that sounds dorky and cheesy but if you’ve read any of this series you know what I mean.

Zane is the unofficial leader of the brotherhood. He is the one they go to for guidance. He always puts their needs before his own. But who does Zane talk to when the darkness threatens the little light he has left? That little bit of ‘light’ is Dakota. Still, Zane lets himself suffer; he won’t burden her with his horrific past. A past that returns too often to haunt him.

Dakota is the perfect girl for Zane. She is tough on the outside with a soft heart and loyal soul. Dakota has demons of her own. And still, she wants nothing more than to help Zane be rid of his. While Zane keeps pushing her away, denying himself her beautiful heart and soul, Dakota pushes right back.

This is one of those dark stories you need to appreciate on your own. And once you learn about some of the horrors that Zane deals with, and what happens as a result of it, his happily ever after will be that much more satisfying.

Zane made me cry. This book also made me angry and stressed as well. Jo Raven’s writing is rich in detail and complexity. All of the dialogue and inner monologue was believable. We get both Zane and Dakota’s POVs. You’ll feel like you’re right thee with them.

All of the members of the ‘brotherhood,’ their girls and even some new characters (which will have a spinoff series; Damaged Boys) make appearances. The next book will be about Dylan and Tess. Then next is Rafe and Megan’s story. After that is a full length epilogue called Inked Babies. I recommend reading this epilogue after you finished the series. It won’t make sense otherwise. Not only will the epilogue give us insight into the near future for everyone, but Zane is in trouble again. His inner demons are out for blood and everyone will come together to help.

So if you are starting the series with Zane’s book (they are all standalone with the exception of Inked Babies) I recommend you goi back and read Asher and Tyler before continuing.

Review For: Return To Falcon Ridge: McLendon Family Saga by D.L. Roan

Cover:  4

Published:  January 17, 2017

Read:  January 29,2017

My Rating:  5

Told in alternating third person perspectives

Standalone

Series:  McLendon Family Saga:  The Heart Of Falcon Ridge; A McLendon Christmas;      Rock Star Cowboys; Rock Star Cowboys; The Honeymoon; The Hardest Goodbyes;  Return To Falcon Ridge   *note this amazing series is not over*

Synopsis:

Torn between his first love…and a forbidden attraction he can no longer deny.

Jonah McLendon is no stranger to polyandrous love. With his mom married to his three dads, and his brothers sharing a wife, he didn’t think twice when his high school sweetheart, Chloe, revealed her secret desire for a ménage with his best friend. There was only one problem. He didn’t expect to fall for Pryce, too.

Beaten within an inch of his life after Chloe exposes their secret, and Pryce having been shipped off to a religious boarding school a half state away, Jonah tells the biggest lie of his life and leaves Falcon Ridge with his heart in pieces. When he returns a year and a half later, the last thing he expects to find is his best friend engaged to the girl who betrayed them both.

No longer the scared, confused kid he once was, Jonah is determined to get to the bottom of Pryce’s sham of an engagement, but the truth behind Chloe’s betrayal threatens more than his love for Pryce. If he can’t let go of the past and coax Pryce out of the closet, he could lose them both forever.

My Review:

Return to Falcon Ridge (McLendon Family Saga, #6)Return to Falcon Ridge by D.L. Roan

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Return To Falcon Ridge: McLendon Family Sage #6 is by author D.L. Roan.

D.L. Roan has a talent for writing erotica that is sweet and romantic. Not only are you enthralled by her intimate scenes but she is an established storyteller. D.L.’s aptness for putting pen to paper is a gift to us.

As with most of the McLendon novels, there is suspense, mystery and drama. Jonah, Pryce and Chloe’s book is no less intense. In fact, I found it the most heartbreaking. This book brought forth so many emotions from me. If you’ve read Rockstar Cowboys you know that something horrible happened to Jonah. There are only hints about what was going on, and I did have my suspicions, but there was much more to it.

Jonah, Pryce and Chloe were a team. Best friends for sure. She was also Jonah’s girlfriend. Then she was more. Sorry I won’t give anything away. 😉

Jonah returns to Falcon Ridge, his family home with a heavy heart, secrets and fears. But it was time to stop hiding. He fears what his family will say when they learn the truth about where he has been and why he left. Jonah has a lot of explaining and apologizing to do. And too his surprise, his family doesn’t judge him. However they are upset about his lies and the unnecessary worry he caused them. Myself included. I was chewing my nails waiting for this book and to find out if Jonah would be ok. Thankfully in Return To Falcon Ridge all our questions are answered.

Chloe is the girl Jonah loved; but not the only one he loved. She betrayed him in the worst way. Or so he thought. Coming home after eighteen months only to find out that Chloe was engaged to his best friend was worse than a punch in the face. Didn’t Pryce know she betrayed him as well?
As with most tragic stories, things aren’t always what they seem. But then truths are revealed and just maybe these three can find a happy ending. Unfortunately, the demons of this story are manipulation, prejudice and fear. Those are strong emotions to rise above.

Let’s not forget that love is the strongest.

Jonah, Pryce and Chloe are afraid. They are afraid of their unconventional feelings for each other. But most of all they are afraid to lose each other.

I will say I loved all three characters but Jonah stood out as the strongest emotionally. It helped that he had the support of a large, loving family. Jonah knew what he wanted and would listen to his father’s advice to ‘do whatever it took’ to make it happen. Jonah was the ‘rock.’ He was the true hero and I loved him for having such strong morals at his young age of almost 21.

I can go on and on and write pages summarizing this book but I won’t do that. You need to experience the McLendons for yourselves. D.L. Roan’s masterful writing created these characters with intensity and care and it shows on every page and in every written word.

For all the weight of worry they carried, Jonah, Pryce and Chloe were too young to have those troubles. Too young to deal with the complexity of their lives. This book was written in a way that was real, believable and nothing was held back. The bad times only made for a more satisfying ending.

I truly love this author’s writing and I will be pining, waiting for the release of Dani’s story next. D.L., please don’t make us wait too long!

Standalone Novel

Synopsis:

What happens when your neighbor hires you a stripper?

It starts one hell of a prank war. A war that involves goats, phallic chandeliers, stolen kisses in the rain, strawgasms, and eating out on the kitchen counter.

A war that could damn well involve two hearts and a plan. Her plan doesn’t involve falling in love. His life doesn’t involve plans.

This could be a problem.

My review:

Sexy Bad NeighborSexy Bad Neighbor by Misti Murphy

My rating: 4.5

“Sexy Bad Neighbor” is by Misti Murphy and Tami Lund.
RELEASE DAY: February 9, 2017

*I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.*

Paynter and Chloe…..

Sexy Bad Neighbor is my first book by both Misti Murphy and Tami Lund. I totally loved it! For a collaboration, I found perfect flow in the writing. The book itself was pretty steady to fast-paced. The back and forth banter, friendly and unfriendly, between Paynt and Chloe had me in tears. I will say that Paynt was a much better sport about the pranks than Chloe. However I have to give Chloe credit for her imagination. She was prudish but at the same time pretty damn funny.

Aside from the prank war…..

Chloe wants nothing more in life than to be successful at her job and in her life. She is a power hungry individual with a ‘life plan.’ Sadly for her, she is under the assumption that if she doesn’t achieve her goals, she is a failure. Chloe set the bar for herself too high. The main reason for her take-no-prisioners attitude was because she was betrayed by the man that claimed to love her. For a while, I thought Chloe was haughty and rude and I didn’t like her much. But thankfully by the end of the book she more than redeemed herself. It turned out that all she needed to feel good about herself was the heart of a good man.

Paynter…..Okay, I have never, ever come across that particular name before. As odd as I thought it was, it fit. Paynt was a drop-dead gorgeous, tech geek. His occupation may have stereotyped him as nerdy but I never felt he was. But the glasses?…..they worked! During Paynt’s first moments in the book, he came off as cocky and smug. It wasn’t long before I understood the motivation for his behavior towards Chloe. Let’s face it though, she didn’t make it easy for Paynt to behave.

What follows is a fun, sweet, sexy story. Yes very sexy. Lots of ‘sexy.’ I really loved this book. Paynt has three siblings that we were fortunate enough to meet. They each have distinct personalities. I hope the authors are planning to write their books because I would love to read them. The final secondary character I’d like to fondly mention is Spot. Actually Spot was more of a scene stealer. 🙂 But you’ll have to read Sexy Bad Neighbor for yourself to decide if you agree. 😉

My Review:

Date MeDate Me by Logan Chance

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Date Me” is by author Logan Chance.

This was my first Logan Chance book and I loved it! It was sexy and at the same time, sweet. There was a good amount of humor, as well as a lovable cast of secondary characters. There was even an unexpected plot twist.

Erik Murphy was a great hero. Despite the obvious; he was sexy, successful, and a woman’s walking fantasy, Erik was a gentleman. Erik was a believable and relatable character. He had flaws (though not many) and a heart of gold. And let me say I loved the setting. Florida is my second home and I wish was there right now. Erik was close with his family. He loved his friends and his amazing job as a personal pilot.

A wedding is coming up in which Erik’s whole family is invited. It’s not something he could easily brush off considering his mother is close friends with the bride-to-be’s mother. Erik needs to find a date since he no longer has a girlfriend. Oh, did I mention that the bride-to-be IS his ex-girlfriend?

Erik’s sisters are determined he find a hot and sexy date for that wedding. So to Erik’s dismay, they went behind his back and created an online profile on a dating app. His sisters are persistent so he reluctantly agrees to check it out.

Erik makes a connection pretty quickly. Belinda. Through texting over several days, Erik realizes this is a girl he wants to get to know. He feels a strong connection with her so he asks her out and they meet at a bar. Erik really likes Belinda. A lot, actually. There’s a problem though. After meeting her, he feels like something is missing. He doesn’t understand how they could have such a strong connection when they are texting and why he only has platonic feelings when they are out together. But he likes her and he isn’t one to give up so easily, so he makes greater effort to get to know her better by seeing her more often.

Belinda’s best friend and business partner, Kayla, creates her profile on the app without her consent. Because Belinda knows Kayla only did it because she loves her, she agreed to get to know Erik.

The more time that passes, the more confused Erik is over his feelings. When the situation takes a turn, things become strained for a while. In other words, things are not what they seem. And what you believe you know about a person, you actually don’t.

Because I adored Date Me, I added additional books by this author to my TBR and I look forward to reading them!

Review For: Clam Jam by R.C. Boldt

clam-jam

Cover:  3.5

Genres:  Romance, Romantic Comedy,

Published:  January 10, 2017

Read:  January 24, 2017

My Rating:  4.5

Standalone novel 300 pages

Told in first person dual POVs

Synopsis:

Clam Jam

“Clam Jam”

Definition: the female equivalent of a cock block.

Example: You’re chatting with a guy you’re interested in and your friend comes along and lays claim to him.

Maggie

That’s my life—except it’s worse. My friend who keeps “jamming” me is my gay roommate and if that isn’t a W.T.F. moment, I’m not sure what is.

Fact: He went home with three—yes, three—of the guys I had been so sure were into me.

Fact: He’s really pissing me off. I mean, hello? I’m trying to get back in the saddle, but I’ll never manage to get a boyfriend before the age of fifty if he keeps this up.

Fact: Secretly, I wonder what it would be like if he weren’t gay. Why do all the hot, sweet, tender-hearted guys have to be gay?

Fact: My gay-dar needs a serious tune-up.

Ry

The day I interviewed for the room to rent, everything changed. I knew I had met “the girl”, except there was one small problem: she didn’t want anything to do with men. I recognized a top-notch force field when I saw one. She’d been burned badly and didn’t want to deal with a heterosexual guy as a roommate. I could’ve turned around and found another place to live, but I wanted to live there—with her.

So I had to go “undercover”.

Fact: I’m in love with my roommate.

Fact: I’m a likely candidate for carpal tunnel surgery since all the action I’ve had for the past year has been my hand.

Fact: She’s going to hate me if I come clean now.

Fact: I’m not giving up. Which means, I’ll just have to continue to run defense until I figure out a way to get Maggie to see the “real” me.

The me that loves her.

The me that would never do her wrong.

Until then, I’ll keep running off every guy who shows any interest.

Until then, I’ll continue to Clam Jam.

My Review:

CLAM JAM by R.C. Boldt

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“Clam Jam” is by author R.C. Boldt.
Ha, ha, ha, ha, and ha! That was me through most of this book. Every once in a while a true cheesy romance comes along that I love to pieces. Add humor to the story…..I’m sold! R.C Boldt is a new author for me. That said, I really had a good time with Clam Jam. The dialogue was funny, witty and even silly at times. In addition, I love the secondary characters as well. (I hope they will get their own books) This book was steady to fast paced. A real gem and I had a hard time putting it down when ‘life’ got in the way.

The premise of Clam Jam is pretty obvious. However there is a delightful twist in which I found endearing. Of course there were lies and secrets but we knew about them from the beginning. I connected with so many aspects of this book. I too am from NY. I also went to catholic school and had a Sr. Kathleen in my life. In addition, I had a close friend that was gay. Ry said and did so many things that brought me back in time. So, yes, this book was the ‘whole package’ for me!

Ry and Maggie…..

In the first pages, Maggie walks in on her fiancé in HER bed with another woman. As usual when I read this cliched moment in any book, it gets me so angry. My reaction is always the same. First, I am sick to my stomach over it. Then immediately after recovering from that sickening moment, I’m protective of the heroine.

Ry was dishonest from the start. I understood why he lied about his sexuality and really?…..his reason endeared me to him. That said, I admit I was a bit frustrated that he took so long to find the courage to admit the truth. The longer it went on, the more I was sure that Maggie would be devastated. Yeah….that particular moment in the book was not my favorite.

Now that I’ve given you some insight, I’ll explain the premise a little bit…..

Maggie needs a new roommate but is being extremely cautious in her selection. After meeting and interviewing several applicants she choses one who she believes will not be annoying, or a danger to her healing heart. And who better to fill those shoes but a gay man.

Ry is attracted to Maggie before they even officially meet. He wants to get to know her badly. Ry believes she might be ‘the one.’ Ry needs to find a place to live so when he realizes Maggie is looking for a roommate, he is determined to be that. However, Maggie is not trusting of heterosexual men right now. So he pretends to be gay.

Maggie and Ry become the very best of friends. Maggie loves her new best friend and loves even more how she can be herself around him. Ry loves his new best friend as well. However, he is IN LOVE with his.

What follows is fun and laughter (romance comes much later but is worth the wait). Ry ‘clam jams'< Maggie at every turn. Every man she decides to try and get to know is either chased off by Ry or leaves with him instead of with her. Ry was outrageous. Y can only imagine some of the humorous lengths he went to, to chase away Maggie’s romantic prospects.

I don’t want to tell you how it all unfolds. It’s pretty predictable. However I loved it all the same. Ry was a great guy. Maggie was a great character as well and I’m so glad I got to know these two. They were perfect for each other in every way. So if you’re looking for a romantic comedy that will make you swoon as well as laugh and giggle often, Ry and Maggie’s story is for you!

My Review:

Deep Under (Walker Security, #1; Tall, Dark & Deadly, #4)Deep Under by Lisa Renee Jones

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“Deep Under” Walker Security #1, Tall, Dark, and Deadly #4 is by author Lisa Rene Jones.
My Rating: 4

Deep Under is book one in the Walker Security series. This novel is also interconnected with the Tall, Dark, and Deadly series. It is a crossover novel. I have not yet read any of the other books. That said, this book is a standalone. And although I did have some curiosity regarding relationships with the secondary characters, I was easily able to follow along with no problems.

Kyle and Myla…..

The book opens with a prologue going back 14 months. It is here we infer that Myla will be abducted by a powerful cartel boss. But we don’t get any details until Myla has flashbacks throughout the following chapters.

Myla has been the ‘kept’ woman of one of the FBI’s most dangerous and elusive criminals. She has had to close her mind off to her true emotions in order to survive the horror of Michael Alvarez; a despicable excuse for a human being. After 14 months with Michael, Myla gains a tiny bit of trust from him. Of course that bit of trust is questionable. Non existent actually. Michael trusts no one. Even so, Myla is finally allowed a little bit of freedom; not really. That is of course as long as her new bodyguard stays close. But not too close.

Kyle is a member of the Walker Security team. An elite team of former military and FBI. Since Myla was kidnapped, Kyle could think of nothing but finding her. He never actually met Myla but he feels a strong connection. When Kyle goes undercover, taking the role of a bodyguard, he is not a little shocked to learn that it’s Myla he his guarding. Kyle is thrilled but cautious. He knows what could happen to both of them if his cover is blown.

It’s not easy for Myla to trust her new bodyguard; even if he does make her feel safe. And for very real reasons, Kyle must tread carefully albeit slowly before revealing himself. There are a whole lot of complications is this book.

There is a lot of suspense and angst. Just waiting for the ‘proverbial’ shoe to drop made for many tense moments. Since this is a romantic suspense, I won’t give away and spoilers. I will say for all the angst and worry, the climax was a bit rushed; but no less satisfying.

I really liked this book and definitely plan to read book two in the Walker Security series which is Asher’s story.

My Review:

Surrender: Military Billionaire BWWM Romance: The Thorne BoysSurrender: Military Billionaire BWWM Romance: The Thorne Boys by Serenity Paz

My rating:  3.5 stars

“Surrender” Military Billionaire BWWM Romance: (The Thorne Boys) is by author Serenity Paz.

This was a very short story of a woman seeking ‘the one’ and a man just trying to find his HEA.

Michelle and Ben…..

Michelle is a beautiful, lonely African-American woman. She is well-educated having received a Master’s degree from a prominent Ivy League school. Michelle resides in Manhattan and spends her days working as a pre-school teacher. Lately Michelle has been putting quite a bit of time and effort in on-line dating in the hopes she’ll find the kind of unconditional love that her parents had. So far she hasn’t had any luck. In fact her recent dates are questionable and to say that is an understatement. Then she meets a sexy, tattooed bartender named Ben and Michelle is hopeful that her luck might just change. I loved Ben! He was amazing. Definitely too good to be true. Given that she is wary to have a one-night-stand with a man she just met, Michelle can’t ignore the strong connection she feels to Ben.

This is an instant-love romance. For Ben it was love at first sight. However, Michelle took longer to convince. Truth is I struggled to like Michelle. She was flighty, insecure, indecisive and somewhat a snob. For someone so focused on finding love,(when it was right in front of her) instead of embracing it, she was judgmental and accusatory. I felt that Michelle was prejudice and judgmental against Ben’s occupation as a bartender AND because he was taking medicine for (view spoiler) a disorder. Oh, and I HATED the fact that she thought it was okay to snoop in the cabinets of Ben’s personal bathroom. His medication kept his issue under control and he hadn’t had any set backs since going on it, years prior, when he was honorably discharged from the military. I mean, who does that? I thought is was brash and nervy of her to invade his privacy that way. It just seemed that for someone as educated as Michelle, she was immediate to judge. The way she ran off after that had me sad for Ben. It was just inconsiderate and mean. Thoughtless. I never understood what Ben saw in Michelle that he thought was so special.

Put aside the fact I didn’t like Michelle much, the rest of the book was sexy and sweet. Ben was such a romantic and a true gentleman. I really wish we had his POV. It would have gone a long way in me giving a better rating. I hate not being inside bot H/h’s minds. I need to know what they are thinking, their real feelings. Oh, by the way, it turned out that Ben was extremely wealthy. He was a great hero and I just couldn’t understand how he was still single.

Would I read more from this author? Yes. I like the fact her couples are interracial. I like reading that everyone can find love regardless of stereotypes.
