Series:  North Pole #4

Told in Dual POVs

The Blurb:

Curvy girl, Melinda Snow, is one of the few unmated humans living in Santa’s Village, the magical hidden world also known as the North Pole. Unlike her existence in the human world, her life is filled with friendship and happiness, but it still lacks love and romance, two things she secretly craves.

Life has never been easy for polar bear shifter, Joel Edwards. Unlike the other Enforcers who provide security for Santa and the Pole, he’s the only one who’s different in more ways than one. Finding a mate never felt like a possibility until he saw Mindy for the first time.

When Joel finally makes a move, and asks Mindy out, she flat-out rejects him, and suddenly, his differences are harder to ignore. Mindy likes Joel, but she can’t date a man that doesn’t know his own mind, even if he is all she wants for Christmas. With a little help from Santa, can these two lonely hearts get mated by Christmas, or will mix-ups and mistakes and keep them apart forever?

Santa Bear (North Pole, #4)Santa Bear by Ruby Shae

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“Santa Bear” North Pole 4 by author Ruby Shae
Published: December 10, 2016
My Rating: 4 Stars

I absolutely love Ruby Shae’s bears. All of her novellas are steady to fast paced and can be read in a couple of hours. Her heroines are typically voluptuous and curvy; just what her large bear shifters are looking for in their mates. Ruby’s heroes are largely built, sexy, tough, protective and loyal. Ruby is an author I like to keep an eye on.

The premise of the North Pole series is how the polar bear shifters of the North Pole find their mates. Each bear has their own personality and they are all sexy! These polar bears are the enforcers/protectors of Santa’s village/town and all the humans and shifters that reside there. The cast of characters not only bring fun, love and romance, but there is witty banter and quirkiness with some light angst. And of course they all have HEAs.

Who would have thought Santa Claus likes to play matchmaker? Well, he does love making people happy. This sweet story is about how Polar bear shifter, Joel Edwards romances curvy human, Melinda-Mindy-Snow.

Both Joel and Mindy have less than happy pasts. They both believe they won’t have a happily ever after. Joel knows that Mindy is his mate but he thinks that she deserves better than himself.

Mindy is a human so she does not experience the strong pull one mate has for another. However she is attracted to Joel and likes him a lot.

This story has misunderstandings that get in the way at first but Joel is determined to win Mindy over. Joel makes many sweet and romantic gestures. I loved him so much! And I adored Mindy as well. She helped Joel realize that his past doesn’t define him and that he deserves her love just as much as she deserves his. A total swoon worthy read.

I don’t know if this was the last book in this series but I hope not!

Quinn Miller and Chloe Winters….

Quinn is a polar bear shifter living only to protect Santa’s village. He is all work and NO play. Quinn is a grumpy bear living with memories of a past he wishes he could forget. Quinn refuses to open his heart again to the possibility of love for fear that he can’t trust his judgement. And because of this, he is lonely and ill-tempered. However, Santa has decided that Quinn will brood no more! That said, much to his annoyance, Quinn is sent away on vacation. This is where he discovers his true mate, to his surprise. Now that he has found her, he’ll have to find a way to convince her to trust in him. Not easy since she is a human and knows nothing about shifters.

Chloe Winters is a human. After a bad breakup she sets out to celebrate a well deserved Christmas all by herself. She ends up in a Christmas village type destination. It is here she meets the most gorgeous stranger she ever laid eyes on. Unfortunately he is a grumpy and rude.

I loved watching Chloe and Quinn discover their feelings for each other. Their attraction was instant however the path to their happily ever after was not overly rushed and I loved every minute of it. My favorite was watching grumpy Quinn change into a totally different person. When he decided to open his heart again to the possibility of love, he became a swoon worthy hunk of a hot bear!

Series:  North Pole #3

Told in dual POVs

The Blurb:

Polar bear shifter, Wade Sullivan, is an enforcer in Santa’s Village at the North Pole. When he’s not protecting the man in red, he spends his time drumming for free in a local cover band. When a friend asks for a favor, he finds himself playing for a much larger crowd, but only one woman can keep his attention.

Curvy, plus-sized human, Danica North has sworn off any man who plays in a band. As a waitress in a popular club, she’s been there, done that and thrown out the t-shirt. It doesn’t matter that the drummer in the new band is sinfully sexy and makes her feel things she hasn’t felt in almost two years; all musicians are off-limits.

Wade can’t believe he found his mate during his first gig with the new band. Dani is absolutely perfect except for one thing: she doesn’t date musicians. Not one to be deterred, he settles for friendship, but it isn’t long before Dani realizes she wants her friend way too much. Can she trust Wade enough to change her rules, or will she spend another Christmas alone?

Polar Bear shifter, Wade Sullivan and curvy human, Danica North…..

This was another adorable and fun addition to the North Pole Bear series. The holiday season is very busy for me as I’m sure it is for many. My favorite things to do are watch Christmas movies and read Christmas romances. Reading them any other time of the year just isn’t the same. This year I read so many wonderful books and Ruby Shaes’ bears were among them.

Wade is one of the protectors of Santa’s village. He is built heavy with muscles, very tall, good looking and sexy. But he is also kind, patient and protective. Especially when it comes to his mate, Danica. She is wary to get involved with him because he is a musician. But Wade isn’t deterred. She belongs to him and he will be what she needs until she realizes they are meant to be together.

Danica is a human living among shifters. She doesn’t mind. She loves her friends, her home and her job. She is also attracted to a sexy polar bear shifter. Unfortunately he is a drummer playing in a popular band. Been there…done that…got burned. Danica doesn’t want to chance getting hurt again. But how much longer will she be able to keep Wade in the friend zone?

As I said earlier, I loved this book and I look forward to more by this author. If you like shifter romances, Christmas and short, quick stories….I recommend this one along with the whole series!

Review: “Sophie’s Santa by R.S. Owl

Genres:  Romance, Erotica, Christmas, Novella, Instalove

The Blurb:

Sophie didn’t think she could feel any more Christmassy. But when something unexpected and unimaginable happens on Christmas Eve, her world gets turned on its head.

Because of one mans magic, Christmas will never be the same again.

“Sophie’s Santa” is by author R.S. Owl.
Published: December 1, 2016
My Rating: 4 Stars.

Sophie’s Santa was definitely a Christmas fantasy come true. This is a novella and I wished it were longer. I won’t say too much about the premise of this story because I obviously don’t want to give anything away. But I will say that “Sophie’s Santa” was fun, sexy and the epitome of Christmas magic. It definitely goes on my mental fantasy list.

Sophie and Sam were meant to be together; that’s so easy to see. I wish I could say more in the way of a description but because the story is so short and any hint will give away the plot, I’ll let you read it on your own.

Do you believe in the magic of Christmas?

Do you believe in fated love; love at first sight?

Do you believe that dreams can be reality?

If you do, then “Sophie’s Santa” will satisfy and leave you smiling. Anything is possible when love in involved.

This was my first R.S. Owl novel but it won’t be my last.

*Note to author…..Do we really have to wait a whole year for Becca and Sebastian’s story?* 😉

Review: “Mistletoed” by M. Andrews

Genres:  Romance, Erotica, Christmas, Instalove, Novella

Published:  December 1, 2016

Told in dual POVs

The Blurb:

Since losing his wife five years ago, Derek Erickson has lived a life of lonely solitude. Focusing on work and incasing his heart in a protective shell of ice. Friends and family have begged him to put himself back out in the dating world, to find someone who can unfreeze his troubled heart. But Derek is content to live alone. He had and lost the great love of his life and to him no one can make him as happy as his late wife Sonia had. That is until he gets snowed in for Christmas with the vibrant and charismatic Eliza Edwards.

An American Christmas in the mountains sounded like a dream to Eliza Edwards. After four months of living in the Big Apple she was ready to get back to the small town vibe she had been missing since moving from her childhood home of Surrey, England. She was prepared for a weekend of watching cheesy Christmas movies, baking cookies and sitting by the fire drinking hot cocoa. The only thing she wasn’t expecting was to meet the charming and extremely handsome Derek Erickson. One innocent kiss under the mistletoe sparks a fire so intense that not even the coldest of hearts could survive.

Snow, a small cabin in the woods and the romance of Christmas is a recipe for one hot steamy holiday.

“Mistletoed” is by author M. Andrews.
Published: December 10. 2016
My Rating: 4 Stars

This was my first book by author M. Andrews. I adored it. There was no angst. It was a simple, sweet story of instalove/lust between two people who were so perfect for each other. It was also very short; I literally read it it under an hour. I didn’t mind that it was short. It had all the cuteness that made a perfect Christmas romance. I will admit there is not a lot of complexity to the H/h. We have a brief backstory but it was enough to help with a small connection. I thought the setting was appropriate; Christmastime in Colorado. An over the top decorated cabin and with an addition of “ugly” Christmas sweaters. I could picture it nicely.

Derek lost his wife to cancer five years prior and hasn’t wanted to move on. He believed that his late wife was his “great” love and she could never be replaced. For the first time in years, Derek is reluctantly visiting his family’s vacation home for Christmas. However, because of snow his parents will be delayed arriving. So Derek must keep his father’s assistant occupied. She was invited to spend the holidays with his family. Derek is less than thrilled to have to play babysitter. But all that dismay is instantly erased the moment he sets eyes on her…..

Sonia, a transplant from England, has recently moved to the US. She has a job and is eager to start a new life away from her previously boring one in England. Sonia was invited to spend Christmas with Derek’s family and she is thrilled. Sonia was depressed at the thought of opening the holiday by herself. When she finds out her new boss and his wife may not make it to Colorado for Christmas, she is worried about spending time alone with Derek, a man she has never met before. But the minute she sees him, all her worry is gone.

The attraction between Derek and Sonia was seriously instantaneous and their sexual chemistry was smoking hot. As I said this book is very short but I thought the author did a great job giving us a sweet, sexy, super hot instalove story. I will definitely read more from this author.

Review: “The Only One” A One Love Novella..(part of the 1001 Dark Nights series) by Lauren Blakely

Genres:  Romance, Contemporary, Adult, Erotica, Second Chances, Novella

Published:  December 6, 2016

Told in dual POVs

The Blurb:

From the New York Times bestselling author of THE SEXY ONE comes a romance about fate and second chances

Let’s say there was this guy. And he gave you the most mind-blowing night of sex in your life. And you never saw him again.

Until ten years later.

Now, it turns out he’s the ONLY ONE in all of Manhattan whose restaurant is available the night of my charity’s gala.

The trouble is, he doesn’t recognize me.

This woman I’m working with is so damn alluring. The first time I set eyes on her, I’m captivated and I can’t get her out of my mind. Even if it’s risky to tango with someone I’m working with, she’s a risk I’m willing to take.

The trouble is, she won’t give me the time of day.

But I’m determined to change that.

THE ONLY ONE is a standalone novella following characters first introduced in THE SEXY ONE (Gabriel) and WELL HUNG (Penny).

The Only One: A One Love NovellaThe Only One: A One Love Novella by Lauren Blakely

“The Only One” A One Love Novella is by author Lauren Blakely.
Part of The 1001 Dark Nights novels
Published: December 6, 2016

My Rating: 4 Stars

“The Only One” was a short, romantic telling of second chance love. It’s about two people reuniting after a decade and how they were determined to pick up where they left of those years ago. This novel was sweet and sexy. Our hero was romantic and sincere, not to mention sexy and erotic. There was very little angst, which I was happy about. This novel was also passionate and had all the sexiness I come to expect from Lauren Blakely novels.

My review will be brief since this is so short. I believe you will want to experience their romance for yourself without any spoilers.

Penny and Gabriel met ten years prior in Spain. They only had a few days and nights together but it was enough that there was a strong foundation to build a relationship on.

Penny left Spain and Gabriel promised to meet her in a month at a place they both agreed upon.

One month later, Penny waited for Gabriel.
Gabriel never showed up.
Penny was devastated.
Life goes on…

Ten years later at a chance meeting, Gabriel does not recognize Penny.
From that moment on, after Penny’s initial hurt and anger are forgotten with Gabriel’s explanation of why he did not show. As their relationship grows and develops, Gabriel and Penny realize they both want a future together.

Gabriel and Penny are perfect together, and for each other. Aside from their mutual heated chemistry and passion, they were deeply in love. Sweet, mushy, sugary love and adoration. A sigh worth romance.
So glad I read it.

Just a note… Although this is a standalone story it spins off from Lauren’s Men of RomCom series. It is in those first novels we are introduced to Gabriel and Penny.

COVER REVEAL: “Changing Lanes” Bounty County Book Two by Maren Lee

Cover Reveal: Release Date: January 1, 2017 “Changing Lanes” By Maren Lee

The Blurb:

Lane Bennett is the new hotshot lead public defender of Bounty County. A transplant from Chicago to Montana, Lane ran from the big city to escape a bad breakup, a far-too-stressful job, and all the anxiety issues that came along with it. But kicking ass and taking names as a small town public defender often pits her against the hottie Sheriff’s Department deputies. In order to win, she has to make them look bad. Lane, “the evil harpy,” as they call her, is not one of their favorites.

Sergeant Jake Hamilton is a veteran in the Bounty County Sheriff’s Department. He and Lane have walked along a rocky road since the first night they met. But after an alcohol-fueled evening resulting in rocking the bed with the sexy redheaded lawyer, Jake decides he is going to woo her.

Complicating matters, however, is that Lane is about to take on the biggest case of her career. A beloved city police officer was allegedly murdered by her client, a non-violent man with a heavy criminal past. But something doesn’t quite smell right and Lane begins to suspect corruption. The problem is, she needs the Sheriff’s Department to help her shore up her defense. And she needs Jake to protect her from the danger in which she suddenly finds herself.

Will Jake be able to convince Lane that their connection is more than just lust? Will the conflicts of interest be too much to handle? When a surprise rocks their world, will Jake step up and prove to be the man Lane simply cannot live without?

Changing Lanes is Book 2 of the Bounty County Series. Each book is standalone and can be read on its own, but it’s helpful to read the series in order to fully understand the characters.

WARNING: 18+ this book contains adult themes, explicit sex, and lots of swearing. Do not read this book if you don’t enjoy these things.

My Review:

The Cowboy's Christmas Baby (Cowboys & Brides, #2)The Cowboy’s Christmas Baby by Carolyn Brown

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“The Cowboy’s Christmas Baby” Cowboys and Brides #2 is by author Carolyn Brown.
Published: September 24, 2013
My Rating: 5 Stars

I’ve read many Christmas romances in the past few weeks. Some were good, some great.  “The Cowboy’s Christmas Baby was the most heartwarming. It’s one I will definitely reread. At 352 pages I hesitated reading this one. But only because I was at a point in my week where I needed to select a book I could get through in a day, two the most.

This book was pretty far down on my TBR list, having added it a while back. I am so glad I selected it! It had every “feel.” There was an absolutely amazing and spirited cast of characters. Not only were the H/h perfectly and realistically written, but the secondary cast was a wonderful gift to the story. They were all truly a great bunch of sassy, quirky and humorous characters.

Lucas Allen is the hero of the story and my hero as well. He is a cowboy by nature and by heart. Hardworking and loyal. Lucas has been overseas, in the military but he is finally coming home to the relief and delight of his witty and loving family. Lucas missed his family. Another reason he is eager to get home is to meet Natalie. She is the woman he has gotten to know over the past eleven months via Skype. Natalie is the woman Lucas can’t wait to meet in person, the one he thinks about a future with. But all his hopes and dreams of a future with Natalie are stalled when he comes home to find her with a baby. Her baby! Lucas is upset and not a little angry. For nearly a year they got to know each other. She never once told him she was pregnant! Why did she lie?

Natalie Clark is a strong, sassy gal. True she didn’t tell Lucas about her baby. But only because she didn’t know how. She was afraid to lose him so she decided to wait and tell him in person. When they do meet for the first time, things don’t go well. The situation is tense and even a bit unfriendly. Of course, Lucas’s reaction is understandable and believable.

What I was really thrilled about is that Lucas didn’t hold onto his anger long. The relationship between Lucas and Natalie took time to develop. It was a slow but perfect journey. I can’t say enough how much I loved this book and all of the characters in it. Lucas will forever have a special place in my heart. The mold was truly broken after he was created. Well, that’s just my opinion but he was amazing. Not only was Lucas perfect with his looks and physique, he was well-mannered, patient, loyal, considerate, friendly, generous, loving and absolutely genuine with his care of Natalie’s baby. This book also had a ton of laughter. As I said earlier, “The Cowboy’s Christmas Baby” has all the “feels.” Absolutely all of them!

So yes, I would recommend this book if you are looking for a steady-paced, feel good, heartwarming romantic story. And what makes it even better is that it takes place over Christmas time.

“Secrets In Valentine Valley” Valentine Valley #6.5 is by author Emma Cane.

My Rating: 4 Stars.

Valentine Valley is a great series featuring a diverse cast of characters and the atmosphere of small town charm. I have read all the books in the series and “Secrets” was a charming addition. While all the books in the series have charm, romance and a bit of angst, this book had a bit of a darker feel. But it was only enough to add a touch of complexity to the short length of the story.

Daniel and Kristin were a couple once. Daniel thought their relationship was going along well and he cared enough about Kristin that he could imagine a future with her. But he never got the chance to explore his growing feelings because Kristin left town. One day she was there and the next…..

Daniel had no idea why she left or where she went. She just disappeared. She was gone.

Until she came back eighteen months later. Daniel wanted answers. He was hurt and angry. But before she had the chance to explain, the reason she had to stay away followed her.

This was a very short story of romance, second chances and some suspense and angst. Secrets are revealed. Daniel is even more hurt and angry by the circumstances. Can Daniel and Kristin continue where they left off a year and a half ago? Thankfully their love for each other was strong enough to overcome Daniel’s hurt and anger.

I enjoyed this story; it was short, sweet and “hit the spot.”
