My rating…5 Stars!!…to “Strung Up” Blacktop Cowboys, #7.5 by author Lorelei James….
I loved this addition to the Blacktop Cowboys series! And luckily, Lorelei keeps them “coming”…no pun intended…..:)

For a short story this packs an emotional much. Although Lorelei has had some MM “lovin” in past novels, (Rough Riders series) this is her first MM only (that I’m aware of). I know there are some readers that are not into the male on male action. Truthfully when I read my first MM I hesitated not sure I would like it. Well almost every one I have read so far I loved, so I am definitely a fan of that genre. To me…romance is romance AND love is love!

“Strung Up had a bit of a dark edge to it. No, there was no suspense. Yes, there is a bit of angst. But the darkness in this story stems from the heartbreaking and horrific events of Cres and Breck’s pasts. Each experienced their own personal, emotional pain.

Preston Grant is a rancher. After he loses his first love he retreats into himself separating himself from from everyone and everything. After nearly two years of living this way, Cres’s older brother forced him out to an event with the rest of the family. It is here he runs into a man he had a week-long hook-up with.

Breck Christianson was formerly a cocky, arrogant, a**hole. He was a player, that used women to hide his true sexual nature. Breck was a rodeo champion. Being gay or even bisexual was not a little frowned upon; to that community, it was the worst sin. It broke my heart what happened when Breck was exposed. There was no going back to rodeoing from that disaster. Even more heartbreaking was the fact that he couldn’t even seek support from the people who should love him unconditionally. I was really pissed off at that moment in the book. I mean f***ing pissed!!!

Breck and Cres slowly and hesitantly reconnect with each other. Yes, the chemistry between them was lava-liscious (yeah, I made that word up) from the beginning. However they each had their own private fears and worries about letting their hearts get involved. I will say that I absolutely loved this novella! I fell in love with both of these men equally. When they found their HEA, I closed my eyes and literally let the emotions I was feeling out. I cried briefly, happy and relieved tears. I am totally serious!

This book is going on my “favorites” list as well as “book boyfriends.” I don’t care that they are gay: they are in my heart! Like I said…love is love…!!!

Well Hung: The Men of Rom Com #3 by Lauren Blakely

Genres:  Contemporary Romance, Romantic Comedy, Erotica

Told in Hero’s POV

The Blurb:

From the NYT Bestselling author of MISTER O, comes a hot and hilarious new standalone…

Here’s what you need to know about me — I’m well-off, well-hung and quick with a joke. Women like a guy who makes them laugh—and I don’t mean at the size of his d*ck. No, they want their funny with a side of huge… not to mention loyal. I’ve got all that plus a big bank account, thanks to my booming construction business. Yup. I know how to use all my tools.

Enter Natalie. Hot, sexy, smart, and my new assistant. Which makes her totally off limits…

Hey, I’m a good guy. Really. I do my best to stay far away from the kind of temptation she brings to work.

Until one night in Vegas…

Yeah, you’ve heard this one before. Bad news on the business front, drowning our sorrows in a few too many Harvey Wallbangers, and then I’m banging her. In my hotel room. In her hotel room. Behind the Titanic slot machine at the Flamingo (don’t ask). And before I can make her say “Oh God right there YES!” one more time, we’re both saying yes—the big yes—at a roadside chapel in front of a guy in press-on sideburns and a shiny gold leisure suit.

But it turns out what happened in Vegas didn’t stay in Vegas. And now, my dick doesn’t stay in my pants when she’s around. I try to resist. Honest. But the more we try to keep our hands to ourselves, the more we end up naked again, and the more time I want to spend with her fully clothed, too.

The question now is…do I take this woman to be my ex-wife?

My Review:

Well HungWell Hung by Lauren Blakely

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

My rating…4 Stars!!! to “Well Hung” by Lauren Blakely. This is the third book in this series so far. I love the covers and titles!

Male POV

Lauren Blakely+RomCom=Yes!!!!

I loved this naughty series from the beginning: “Big Rock” “Mister O” and now “Well Hung” Im not gonna lie here….I grabbed the first book because of the cover and the title and since become a fan of Lauren Blakely. “Well Hung” was sexy and funny. The best part? Told in Wyatt’s POV. Wyatt was great in so many ways. I don’t often come across books told only in the heroes POV. When I do, they are always a strong consideration. Especially when they are RomCom.

Wyatt was an amazing character. He wasn’t too arrogant and he respected Natalie, trying to keep his distance. He wanted her but he wouldn’t take a chance on things not working out. Wyatt had trouble, twice before, in the past with vindictive exes. So naturally he has sworn off mixing business with pleasure. Did I mention that Natalie is his employee?

Wyatt tried to be good by resisting the temptation of beautiful, kind, funny Natalie. He tried so hard but eventually gave in to his feelings. And when Wyatt fell off the “wagon,” he does it spectacularly. The Vegas way.

Natalie was a fun character and Wyatt’s perfect match. She was just as humorous and witty as he was. Because we didn’t have Natalie’s POV, I couldn’t relate to her well. That said, I wasn’t bothered by that. I had a great time watching Wyatt fall in love. He tried to be cautious and careful, still worrying that Natalie would become another selfish, dishonest, woman who would take advantage of him. He makes some poor choices. He said some things that he soon regretted. The best part was watching Wyatt make his grand gesture. So amazing..sigh worthy…. Wyatt was the perfect hero. Silly, smart, witty and romantic. And let’s not forget gorgeous, sexy, sinful, and well……hung….

Lauren has more heroes to share with us in the future of this series as some were introduced in this book. I’m looking forward to reading those as well. I hope Lauren will decide to write a holiday romantic comedy. That would be amazing!

My Review:

Shielding LilyShielding Lily by Alexa Riley

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So sweet and endearing. My Rating 4 Stars!!! to “Shielding Lily” by Alexa Riley.
At first I wasn’t sure about his one. The H/h are just 18 years old and I was worried about it being creepy. Nope! Not creepy AT ALL! It was loving and touching and yes Ren and Lily were new to love, but their relationship was beautiful. Rem was so swoon worthy…..

“I’m gonna kiss you, Lily Parker. Because you’re the sweetest and most beautiful girl I’ve ever met, and if I don’t I might die. But once I do, you’re gonna belong to me.”

This review will be short and sweet; just like the book.
Oh just wow! Every time I read an Alexa Riley romance, I can be seen with a big goofy grin on my face. Every damn time! These stories are so outrageous and cheesy you just gotta love them for what they are. Fun, flirty, and smut filled instalove. This is one of the many reasons I look forward to reading an AR novella.

Why oh why couldn’t I have had a “Ren” in my high school? Because most high school boys only think of one thing when it comes to girls and it isn’t love and marriage.

Ren and Lily were an adorable, inseparable couple. This story gave us the commonly used trope of popular, gorgeous football star falling for the shy, new girl. Its something we’ve seen many times and I still loved this one.
Ren and Lily were both quiet individuals. They both preferred being loners, being left alone. That all changed the moment they met, that poignant moment when they locked eyes on each other. Rem was possessive and protective instantly over Lily. There was some stereotypical cheerleader nonsense going on but it was nothing too angsty. Rem made sure no one bothered Lily. As over the top that his feelings for her were, Ren was gentle with Lily. Kind and patient; determined to take their relationship slow. Even though Lily was shy and hesitant, she couldn’t help but feel safe with Ren. He was a bit bossy but so sweet about it.

“I love you, Lily Parker,” I say, looking into her big blue eyes. She smiles at me so sweetly it makes my heart ache. “The second I saw you, I fell, babe. I fell hard and fast. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Loving you and becoming everything to you like you are to me.”

Oh my gosh…the epilogues (of which there were many)….talk about icing on the cake of an already sweet story?

“I’ve always thought I was brought into this world to find and protect you. To shield you from the ugly things out there. To not let any more darkness touch you. And I do still believe that. But I also think you were brought into this world to light up my life, Lily.”

One thing I am certain of when I read an Alexa Riley novella is that they are super cheesy, super short, and absolutely smutty! I love them!

#1 “Irresistible Attraction” 4 Stars
#2 “Pure Lust” 3.5 Stars
#3 “Wicked Pleasure” 4 Stars
#4 “Craving More” 4 Stars
#5 “Burning Desire” 3.5 Stars

Average Rating :
3.8 Stars!

Because this is a five part story and each book continues where the last one left off, I decided to write a cumulative review.

In this steamy multiple partner romance we are introduced to three likable characters. New York City girl Allison and Colorado billionaires, Jake and Hunter. You surely read this series from book one otherwise you wouldn’t be here. From book one we know that Allison, with encouragement from her best friend, leaves New York and her dirtbag ex-boyfriend behind for a summer job in Colorado. She will work as an assistant to a successful and popular food chef and blogger.

Jake is co owner of the ranch where his sister, Allison’s new boss, lives and works. Jake is the first to greet Alli and he instantly feels attracted. This NYC girl is all he can think about. Jake wants her badly. But he is not the only one. Uh oh…

Hunter is Jake’s partner as well as best friend. Both men are gorgeous, sexy and used to getting anything they want. And of course they both want Alli. Alli is conflicted by the attention she receives from both men. They ooze sensuality and sex and she wants them both but doesn’t know which one to choose.

Wouldn’t you know…this lucky girl does not have to choose. How wonderfully and incredibly convenient! Sarcasm here…(with a bit of envy of course)

This was one hell of a hot and steamy story. Jake and Hunter were such dirty talkers. And talk about dominant! Hot damn! These men were not shy and they certainly knew their way around a woman’s body.

I loved that each man had a different personality. Jake more serious to Hunter’s humor. They may be different in some ways but they both respected and adored Alli, loving her. Just as she was with them.

But was it love? Or just lust?

As the story progresses, feelings and deeper emotions become involved. But who’s feeling what? Will they end up in a polyamorous relationship? Or will their trio become a duo? Or nothing at all?Unfortunately their hearts are put on hold as Alli finds herself in deep trouble thanks to her ex.

But don’t worry too much about that. There is justice! There is an HEA! But will it be what you expected or like? Personally, I was okay with it but I would have been happier had it gone the obvious way.

All in all this was a great story. It pushed all my buttons. This was definitely not my first read by Scarlett Avery and it won’t be my last.

Clipped: A Blue Falls Novella 2.5 by Stella James

Genres:  Contemporary Romance, Erotica, Instalove, Novella

Dual POVs

The Blurb:

This book is short, sexy and to the point. If you enjoy insta-everything, a strong and wild female lead and plenty of steam, this book is for you!

Mona Mitchell has lived in the small town of Blue Falls all her life and she wouldn’t dream of living anywhere else. She owns a successful hair salon and has a great group of friends that are more like family. There’s just one tiny problem. Mona doesn’t want kids. She never has and she never will. Dating is hard enough in a small town, add to that the fact that ALL the men you meet want to be with someone who wants a family someday and you’re going to start running out of options. Mona is starting to resent the fact that she can’t find her happily ever after…

Walker Powell is forty-three years old and ridiculously wealthy. He’s never bothered to settle down with a wife and kids. He’s organized and efficient and in control of all aspects of his life. With hotels all over the world and a long line of women willing to warm his bed, you’d think he’d be satisfied. But looks can be deceiving. Walker is bored. Bored of the same women, the same places and the same everyday motions…

A chance encounter will bring this unlikely duo into each others lives. Has Mona met her match in an older man? Can Walker handle a woman like Mona?

A missing vibrator, an arousing haircut and a tiny misunderstanding just might lead to love after all…

Each book in the Blue Falls series can be read as a standalone but in order to fully enjoy the characters and their story lines, it is recommended that you read the books in order.

My Review:

Clipped (A Blue Falls novella 2.5)Clipped by Stella James

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“Clipped” A Blue Falls Novella 2.5 is by author Stella James.

Holy wow! What a delightfully decadent novella. Like strawberries dipped in chocolate…than dipped in graham cracker crumbs and one final plunge into the Cool Whip! “Clipped” was super short. It was fun and fast paced and I literally read it in under an hour. This naughty tale features Mona Mitchell and Walker Powell. (I just need to say that “Walker” just so happens to be one of my favorite hero names)

I don’t know if this book is listed as a romantic comedy but I was smiling, laughing, and even blushing through most of it. Mona has a dirty mouth; she is outrageous, ballsy, and not afraid to back up her words with actions. She is one of those gutsy, brash and brazen women I can only live vicariously through. Hey, I’m no prude but I’m definitely no Mona! You go naughty girl!

“Holy mother fucking penis batman. I am no stranger to the d. I love the d. And the d loves me. But this thing is in a class all its own and it looks like it means business.

“This is my last one night stand ever I am not taking it slow. I am going to hop aboard the cock express and choo choo my way to pleasure town.>

Walker is a lot older than Mona. He is 43 to her 27. He was sexy as sin, wealthy, cocksure and a wet dream. Walker and Mona were two different personalities and yet they were a perfect match.

Yeah this was totally instalove/lust with panty melting heat. The end was fast but I expected that however it was no less satisfying. I loved the epilogues! Yes there were two of them!

Note to author, Stella I need “Worth The Fight.” Like yesterday! You don’t want me to lose sleep now do you? 🙂

Wrangler: Star Valley #2 by Dahlia West

Austin Barlow took a chance on a tapped out mine next to his family’s ranch and now he’s reaping the rewards in ways no one predicted. Austin’s Folly is the talk of the state and he’s pleased his brothers are being forced to eat crow.

He’s accepting an award at a swanky hotel in the Grand Tetons for his efforts. The alcohol and accolades are flowing freely when a frisky filly with a ridiculously dirty mouth offers to throw a saddle on him and ride him hard. She’s obviously in over her head and it’s adorable.

Of course he’ll take her up on her offer. You only live once, right? In the morning he’ll be back at the Folly, and away from civilization for a while, so getting tangled in the hotel sheets with a pretty girl is just what he needs.

Leah Pierce has a new lease on life and she’s grabbing the bull by the… horns. In town for a friend’s wedding and spurred by bachelorette party hijinks, she stumbles into the hotel bar on uncomfortably high heels, looking for a set of cowboy boots. The pair she spots are on the sexiest man she’s ever laid eyes on. With a little boost from her friend “Jack” she works up the courage to ask him to come up to her room.

The sex is incredible, the night unforgettable, even through the whiskey-soaked haze. In the morning Leah’s crossed off another item on her Reverse Bucket List–and gotten a souvenir to boot–which is cause for concern. She needs to find her dreamy dude–and fast–even though she only got a first name.

Austin is stunned when his green broke little filly shows up at Snake River looking for him. She’s got a newspaper tucked under her arm sporting his photo with a headline that reads “Wyoming Wild Man Works Wonders,” but if she thinks she can snag herself a piece of the empire he and his brothers are rebuilding, she’s got another thing coming.

My Review:

Maverick (Star Valley, #3)Maverick by Dahlia West

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What an absolutely amazing book! I smiled and blushed and God did I cry! This book is on my “favorites” and “book boyfriend” list.

My Rating: 5 Stars….to “Maverick” Star Valley #3 by author Dahlia West. With each book by this author I have read, she is quickly becoming a favorite…

***At the end of this review I will add a spoiler alert. There are some triggers in this story and you should decide if you want to know what they are because they will give away the last chapters***

In this third book the ranch is on the mend. There is still a long way to go but the Barlows are determined to succeed. As well as the main story there is an element of mystery and possibly danger in the way of a trespasser.

“Maverick” is a darker novel compared to the first two in the series. This book features the second oldest Barlow brother, Austin. He is my favorite so far. Technically, Austin is second oldest because his oldest brother, and twin Walker was born three minutes earlier. Austin is a mature character in his mid thirties but the last thing on his mind is settling down with a woman. Austin’s first priority is moving the ranch forward financially. He has amazing ideas and concepts to make that happen. In fact, he is being given an award to honor his successes and ideas. So of course while he gets to spend the night in a fancy hotel, he may as well find some female company. And he sets his sights on one immediately.

Leah Pierce was amazing. Despite all that she has suffered in her life, she is trying to live a normal, happy life. That isn’t easy considering her luck is usually bad. Leah is spending the weekend at a fancy hotel while attending a friend’s wedding. While there, her friend convinces her to act on her desire for a certain sexy cowboy that caught her eye.

What follows is a one-night stand, a miracle and lots of complications. Weeks after her night with Austin, she shows up on the ranch looking for him. To say is a little surprised at seeing her again is an understatement. He is not happy and suspicious once he realizes why she sought him out. Before Austin could stop his first reactions, cruel and insulting words spew fourth from his mouth.

What follows is a beautiful angsty story of two people finding love. Leah wasn’t expecting to ever find love or even to be happy. Austin sure as heck wasn’t looking for it. Fate knew better.

After I got over Austin’s verbal vomit (which was quickly), I admired and adored him. He was perfect. I never expected him to be such a softy when it came to Leah. Austin is a tough, alpha cowboy who isn’t afraid of anything or anyone, especially when it comes to protecting and caring for those he loves. However, Austin did have one fear. And that is losing Leah. He would do anything to make sure that never happened.

I can’t say too much for fear of giving too much of this story away. “Maverick” was heartbreaking and emotional. It was sexy and sensual. But there is darkness too.

This book is definitely on my “favorites” and ‘book boyfriends” lists.

Cold-Cocked by Love: Tough, yet Tender #1 by Loretta Palmer

Genres:  Romance, Instalove, Light Suspense

Dual POVs

The Blurb:

I fell for Dylan Hart before I even laid eyes on him. No, really; I tripped over his gym bag while waiting tables at the local bar and grill, and spilled beer all over his blue jeans. Then he helped me up, and I saw who I was dealing with: a paragon of masculinity, with the physique of a Greek god, a jawline hewn from granite and baby-blue eyes a girl could get lost in for days.

I never thought a man like him would take a second look at someone like me: a klutzy grad student and part-time waitress who’d made it to 22 without so much as kissing a guy. But when he invited me back to his place for an impromptu course in self-defense, there was no mistaking the chemistry between us.

For as long as I could remember, boxing had been my sole passion. Romance had never been part of my life, and my rigorous training regimen didn’t leave much time for dating. But looking into Lana’s eyes that night, I felt something I’d never experienced before. I knew I’d regret it if I didn’t get to know her.

With Lana, I was happy for the very first time. I wanted to build a life with her. Deep down, though, I knew she deserved better. Because I’d done some things years ago that I couldn’t take back—and if she ever learned the truth, she wouldn’t be able to look at me the same way ever again.

A prizefighter squares off against demons from his past in the debut novel from young romance author Loretta Palmer. Quirky, suspenseful and sizzling with eroticism, Cold-Cocked by Love will have you on the edge of your seat right up till the happily-ever-after ending.

My Review:

Cold-Cocked by Love (Tough, Yet Tender #1)Cold-Cocked by Love by Loretta Palmer

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

My Rating 3.5 Stars!…to “Cold-Cocked By Love” Tough, Yet Tender #1 by new author Loretta Palmer.

This was my first novel by this author and I believe this was her first as well. “Cold-Cocked By Love” was a story of instalove with a bit of angst and some suspense. Our hero and heroine were quickly attracted to each other. Dylan and Lana were likable characters. Dylan has a past that feels dark and isn’t revealed until the last part of the book. Dylan is a boxer. This is what he does for a living. At least I think it is since nothing else of an occupation was mentioned where Dylan is concerned. Lana is a student/waitress. It is at her job where they meet the first time. Neither have any experience with love or dating. It was sweet watching those two experience their “firsts” together. From the start Dylan wanted to take care of Lana but would she want him when the truth of his past is revealed? He was afraid of what Lana would think of him after she found out what he did. So to protect himself he told Lana a bunch of lies. Bad idea…

When Lana first encounters Dylan, she literally falls into his arms. After she gets over the shock and embarrassment of her clumsiness, Lana finds herself mesmerized by the intensely beautiful blue eyes she is staring into. Oh wow! Sigh…. Lana doesn’t believe Dylan would ever be interested in someone like her. Lana has low self-esteem about her body.

Together, Lana and Dylan get to know each other. Unfortunately there has to be some angst and we have that in the form of distrust and secrets. What will happen to their relationship when trust is broken?

Also, Lana does not like that Dylan puts himself in danger as a boxer. But this is his livelihood; something he has aspired to from an early age. I did not like that Lana did not support him; she never attended his matches. That bothered me a little. Love is unconditional. When he really needed her; she wasn’t there.

I wanted to add there is one cute little addition to the story I found refreshing and it made me smile often. His name is Dylan Jr. and he is a lobster.

I look forward to reading the next novel,” A Step From The Edge.” This is a romance featuring a motorcycle riding, hot stepbrother bad boy. 🙂

My Review:

How to Catch an Heiress (Heiress Series, #1)How to Catch an Heiress by Natalie Rios

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this! 4 Stars to “How to Catch an Heiress” is the debut novel for author Natalie Rios. This novel is the first in the Heiress Series. It is written in both POVs.

*I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review*

First, I would like to say I was pleasantly surprised by this novel. Not because of how much I enjoyed it but because the author wrote perfectly for a first novel. With new authors we sometimes get a few books before all the writing kinks are out but I found this novel well written with developed characters having some complexity as well as being well researched. I can tell this author took her time to apply her knowledge and research appropriately. That said, let me introduce you to our H/h.

Liz (Elizabeth) Wheaton Rockwell is an heiress. Her family is wealthy, dysfunctional and ridiculous. It’s amazing how she pushed past all that to make her own way in the world. Liz was educated and became a successful lawyer. She supports herself with her own hard-earned money, never touching the family fortune. Unfortunately Liz doesn’t trust well for good reasons. Sometimes she can be a real b*tch. Because of that I had some difficulty liking her. But as the story moved forward and her character developed, she became more relatable and I liked her.

Anthony Carter is a biomedical engineer. He is also a sexy, adorable nerd! Anthony is not your typical alpha hero. In fact, if I had to choose I would say Liz is more alpha than he is. Anthony may not be domineering, however he was very good at gently manipulating Liz so she would let her “walls” down. Anthony was intelligent and nerdy as well as gorgeous and adorable. I am so used to reading about heroes being sexy, dirty talking, domineering alphas. Anthony is only minus the dominance. I wasn’t sure I was going to fall in love with him. I was wrong!

The relationship build was slow going. As you know from the blurb, Anthony and Liz meet one night in a Vegas bar and wake up married. I know, cliche right, but it worked. So the morning after they both agree to go their separate ways. Liz being a lawyer will handle the dissolution of their hasty and unmemorable marriage, expediently and efficiently.

But Anthony has a change of heart after realizing who Liz is and how much she is worth financially. Yes, I was not a fan of his for a while. Extortion? Seriously? How could that possibly equate to true love? These two got to know each other; views changes, priorities shifted and morals grew strong again.

I thought his was a sweet, enjoyable story with a bit of suspense with low angst. I would definitely like to read the next book in this series…

My Review:

Last Chance Rebel (Copper Ridge, #6)Last Chance Rebel by Maisey Yates

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

2.75-3 Stars…to “Last Chance Rebel” Copper Ridge #6 by Maisey Yates.

This was the first book I read by this author. It was pretty long at 384 pages. Sadly, I didn’t love it. Because I rarely “not” not finish a book, I admit I skimmed a lot. Even with skipping, it still took me more than two days to finish though. I’m sure it didn’t help that I put my Kindle aside and found other things to do more often than not. That said, I’m not saying I won’t read this author again. I don’t work that way. I know that what pleases others doesn’t have to please me so I like to be openminded that just because I don’t like one, doesn’t mean I won’t like another. I will say that Maisey is a passionate writer.

I wanted to like Rebecca but it didn’t happen. Gage wasn’t very appealing either. Those two didn’t like each other and took fighting/bickering to a immature level. It frustrated me how they acted like prepubescent children. Yes, Rebecca had reason to dislike Gage but she was relentless about it for so much of the book.

Gage was selfish and I could not connect with him. He wasn’t completely honest about his issues until the end of the book. Even being in his head didn’t give me enough.

I did like the premise of the storyline; the blurb is why I added this book. What I had a strong issue with was the fact there were pages and pages of internal monologue between actual dialogue (hence the skimming). I got lost with the direction of the conversation often. For that reason, in my opinion of course, this book could have been shorter. I think I would have enjoyed it a lot more had there been more dialogue. I just couldn’t connect with the H/h.

Another disappointment for me was the rushed HEA. Gage and Rebecca were complex characters with a ton of emotional baggage. But the 180 degree turn once they got “together” made it look as if the conflict disappeared.

And then it was back!

And then came the resolution!

And then it was over!

The epilogue didn’t satisfy me either.

I’m sad that this book was blah for me. I do plan to read another Maisey Yates book because I am openminded and I’m sure I will find her “just right” book for me.
