Coach: Book 1 in the Breeding series by Alexa Riley

The Blurb:
Retiring from the NFL was the right decision, and at thirty years old, I’ve done things most people could only dream of. After all I’ve accomplished, coaching high school football should be easy…but when you’ve got a distraction in the form of a nerdy girl with curves, things can get complicated.

She’s a student, she’s barely legal, and she’s my best friend’s daughter.

I didn’t know what desire was until Megan. I had no idea obsession could drive someone insane, until I saw her. I wasn’t prepared for the fact that once I laid eyes on Megan my life would really begin.

I have to have her, no matter what the cost. I have to breed her and bind her to me so tightly she can’t ever get away. She’ll be mine, even if I have to take her.

Warning: this book is ridiculous, over the top, completely unbelievable, and pretty much just about breeding the heroine. If you’re okay with that, welcome to my dirty, dirty book! Just remember, I warned you.

Coach (Breeding, #1)Coach by Alexa Riley

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“Coach” is an erotic, contemporary romance novella.
Ok, so I have only read a few books by author Alexa Riley and the pattern I see so far in her novels is a short, sexy, dirty, and intense story. That is absolutely not a complaint! If your looking for a short, steamy, totally cheesy read, “Coach is a great choice. It’s instalove/lust at its finest. The path of the story is unrealistic but that’s not to say it doesn’t actually happen in real life (especially in this world we live in these days). Just NOT in my world. Hence, one of the reasons I love to read romance. This author threw morals right out the window. 🙂 “Coach” is the story of a former NFL star, current high school football coach, Chris, and beautiful nerdy student Megan. Megan just happens to be the daughter of Chris’s best friend. Here’s where the morals took flight….Chris is 30 and Megan is 18. Yep, you heard right, she’s 18. I wasn’t sure I would like this novella. It wasn’t the 12 year age difference. It was the fact she just turned 18. But as I read on, that little fact didn’t bother me because I was too busy being completely attracted to Chris! Like, yeah! Hot damn he was sexy and lusty. Chris was so alpha and intense. Let me add how the book cover was the firstl draw for me. This story wastes no time getting down to business and once it starts, it’s a roller coaster of lust and hot, sexy, alpha. Chris is insatiable and Megan has no trouble keeping up. So if you’re looking for a story that’s quick and dirty with an intensely greedy and jealous lover, this is it. My only complaint? The story ended at 77%.

My rating…4 Steamy Stars!!!

P.S. Does anyone know who that hunk is on the book cover!? :))

My Review:
Scorch (Firefighters of Montana, #2)Scorch by Dani Collins

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“Scorch” is the second in a series of four novels from Tule Publishing. I have read so many novels from Tule and I can’t say that I disliked any of them. Their Montana Born series’ are my favorites. “Scorch” was written by Dani Collins. I have read many of her novels, (not solely the ones published by Tule). As with the others, I loved “Scorch.” Dani’s writing style has all the emotions I look for in a novel without being too angsty. This series revolves around firefighters/smoke jumpers. So of course these men are alpha, muscular, sexy, protective and yes, flawed. This story of Vin and Jacqui was sweet. My heart went out to both H/h because of the circumstances of their pasts. I empathized with them both for different reasons. “Scorch” was the type of story were you couldn’t help but root for these two. I will not go into too much of a description here because I believe the blurb is enough to get you interested, that and the fact you might be a fan of Dani Collins and Tule Publishing. I was able to read this in a few hours because I was so invested in the HEA….I mentioned there are four novels in this series and they can be read on their own. However, I recommend reading them in order so you are familiar with all the secondary characters.
My Rating is 4 Stars!!!

Rock Me Dirty by Alexa Kaye

The Blurb:
Are you looking for sexy, cheesy insta-love stories that’ll make your Kindle melt?

Looking for something that won’t take a month to read but is satisfying, with a hero who deserves his happily ever after and would never cheat on his woman?

Look no further! Alexa Kaye promises to deliver exactly what you want! Short brimming-to-the-top-with-tropes reads with plenty of sexy times and to-die-for heroes who make sure their women are satisfied…in all ways.

Twenty effing years I’ve given my fans, my agents, my band members–everyone but me–what they wanted. I gave them everything I had. But I can’t anymore. I’m dead inside. There’s nothing left to give. Until I see her. The girl wearing wings. White. Angel wings. She turns to me and her eyes find mine. And a blast of electricity rips through me. And I feel it. I feel the music like I haven’t in years.

I don’t know a thing about her. At least, I don’t know things that don’t matter. Her name. Where she lives. All I know is that she has somehow ignited that fire in me again.

She’s my angel. My siren. My salvation. Mine.

There’s only one problem–she doesn’t know it yet.

Warning: this sizzling story of insta-lust comes with an extra dose of cheese. If you’re expecting a deep, philosophical read, try Hermann Hesse.

My Review:
Rock Me DirtyRock Me Dirty by Alexa Kaye

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

There isn’t a whole lot to review about this novel. It was a sixty-one page story about a rockstar’s instalove/lust over a young girl. It wasn’t specific, however I guessed the hero Cole to be around twenty years older than our heroine, Tessa. Cole and Tessa’s story takes places over a two day span excluding the epilogue. Cole was an intense, sexy alpha. Their interactions together were dirty, steamy, sexy and a completely unrealistic fantasy. Hell, I would have loved to have a fantasy like that when I was fangirling over rockstars in my younger days! So even though this was so short, cheesy and lacking any character depth, I liked it a lot. The novel ended at 77% and cost $2.99, so you have to decide if you think its worth the cost. I did and I will definitely read this author’s next one.

Too bad the only woman he wants is Heather Ward, the girl he walked away from years ago without saying good-bye.

If she answers Colt’s online ad for a temporary wife, will he fall in love with her before he learns the truth?

My Review:
The Airman's E-Mail Order Bride (The Heroes of Chance Creek, #5)The Airman’s E-Mail Order Bride by Cora Seton

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

OK, wow! This novel brought out a lot of different emotions in me. I was sad, worried, panicked, relieved and then finally happy. If you’ve read the blurb or previous novels in this series, then you know about the crazy, manipulative aunt who requires the Hall brothers to marry within a year in order to inherit the family ranch. Well things get crazy and even ridiculous before our H/h’s get their HEA. This story was a second chance at love for youngest brother Colt and the girl he left almost thirteen years prior. What a mistake that turned out to be! So many secrets! I really liked Heather and I worried about her at times.

Colt had me angry at times.
Seriously! What the hell was he thinking? I really didn’t enjoy all the self-sacrificinig Colt and his brothers planned for themselves in order to get the ranch. How Colt could even think about doing what he almost did completely pissed me off. Thankfully he came to his senses and stood up to their aunt. The hell with the consequences. But what happens to the ranch? You’ll have to read to find out. 🙂

There were some ridiculous and funny moments. Like…Hell, would I have the guts to do that? Probably not. Another good aspect of this novel was seeing all my favorite characters from previous Chance Creek novels.

One complaint I have is the fact that The Airman’s E-Mail Order bride ended at 80%. That being said, I think this novel should have cost a little less than the $3.99 I paid if I compare length and cost to the other in the series. However, I really enjoyed reading this novel.
My Rating is 4 Stars!!!

The Marine’s E-Mail Order Bride by Cora Seton

The Blurb:
If Gunnery Sergeant Zane Hall wants to save his family’s ranch, he’ll need to fix up the buildings, stock the spread with cattle—and find a wife. The first two are easy with the help of his brothers, but getting hitched is proving more difficult. When he meets mountaineer Kenna North through an online ad, she seems like the perfect fit—at least in her e-mails. She wants the same thing he does: a temporary marriage to secure an inheritance. But when Zane meets Kenna, she’s nothing like he expects, and Zane finds himself changing his priorities, fast.

If Storm Willow wants to save her family’s seaside cottage, she’ll have to keep her boss happy—which means taking Kenna’s place and marrying Zane when Kenna is detained out of the country. As long as Storm acts her part, no one will know that she’s an imposter. But when she falls for the handsome Marine, Storm begins to wonder if holding onto the cottage is worth giving up on love.

Can a fake marriage lead to real happiness? Or is disaster just a heartbeat away?

My Review:
The Marine's E-Mail Order Bride (The Heroes of Chance Creek, #3)The Marine’s E-Mail Order Bride by Cora Seton

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

After reading Cora Seton’s Cowboys of Chance Creek (Montana) and currently working my way through the Heroes of Chance Creek, I have decided I want to move there. LOL! These men are more than alpha and sexy. They are sweet, protective, loving and loyal. If you’ve never read a Cora Seton novel, I recommend it!

The Marine’s E-Mail Order Bride was the third in the series telling us the story of how Zane Hall found his bride. If you’ve read the previous in the series or the blurb, you know he places an online add for a temporary wife. And as with the others….the “temporary” part of the deal is just that, “Temporary.” Zane was my favorite brother so far BUT this was not my favorite book. Why? I had issues with our heroine, Storm. I hated the lies. I loved Zane so much, I worried how hurt he would be over the dishonesty. I understood why Storm lied but personally, she let things go for too long. Because of her deceit, the Halls could have lost everything. Their home, finances, and their heritage. I was concerned. So yeah, I was not a fan of Storm. Zane on the other was a sweet romantic. Not that I don’t believe in love at first sight, I obviously do being such a huge fan of romance, but sometimes the author doesn’t make it convincing. Well that was not the case in this novel. I believed Zane’s instalove. I believed IN Zane and I’m happy it all worked out in the end. One more bit of insight I’d like to add is this…This series may be all based on the call for an “E-Mail Order” bride, however each brother’s story is as individual as his personality. I really enjoyed this novel and I happily rate it 4 Stars!!!

My Review:
Worth the Chance (Blue Falls #1)Worth the Chance by Stella James

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“Worth the Chance,” is author Stella James debut novel. This was a short and sexy read for me, at a little over 100 pages. This novel shows how main character Lily Jensen deals with spousal abuse and her determination to remove herself from that situation. I don’t want to give anything away since this book is short but I will say I really liked Lily. I respected and admired her for living through what she did. There are some triggers in this story that may not be suitable for some so keep that in mind. Cole was strong, protective and sexy and he adored Lily. Cole was a hero and that’s all I can say without giving anything away. The secondary characters introduced in this first of the series had me laughing out loud at times. Cole’s good friend Trace will be the hero in the next book. Having read a small teaser at the end of this book, I am excited to read that story. I am not a literary expert and I don’t claim to be. However, I read on average one book per day. That being said I definitely know what I like and the “feels” I look for in a story. As a debut novel, I thought “Worth the Chance” was very good. My insight…I wished it could have been longer. I would have liked to have more background on the characters but I know that isn’t always possible in a shorter novel. My rating was a steady 3.5 stars until I reached the halfway point. This is an author I will absolutely follow. 4.0 Stars!!

Blackbird Lake: Lonesome Way #3

The Blurb:

From New York Timesbestselling author Jill Gregory—a heartwarming, romantic novel of a rodeo champion who returns to his hometown and unexpectedly falls in love—with a beautiful young woman and her tiny daughter.

When rodeo champ Jake Tanner returns to Lonesome Way, Carly McKinnon may be the only one not happy about it. The last thing she wants is Jake finding out about her daughter—or rather, their daughter. Since their one-night fling years ago, Carly has been a great parent on her own. And the footloose Jake isn’t the sort of father she wants for little Emma.

But once Jake learns the truth, he wants to be a part of Emma’s life even if he’s not going to be a part of Carly’s. Even though the pair agrees to try to be friends, they soon find that being “just friends” isn’t so easy. The red-hot attraction between them sets off sparks they thought they had left behind. Despite their rocky past and uncertain future, can Carly and Jake find their way into each other’s arms—and hearts?

Blackbird Lake (Lonesome Way #3)Blackbird Lake by Jill Gregory

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ok, wow! I loved this novel! This was the third in this series and my favorite so far. Jake is the youngest Tanner brother and my favorite brother as well. He was sweet, alpha and sexy. Jake’s demons of the past keep him on the road at rodeo visiting his family just a few times a year, only on special occasions. Whether he wants it or not, Jake won’t allow himself the HEA of wife and kids because if someone depends on him, he believes he will let them down. Things slowly change for Jake when he returns home for his niece’s birthday only to find out he is a father. I liked Carly even though she kept her daughter a secret. She was afraid and I understood her reasoning. Jake and Carly didn’t become a couple right away. I liked there their story as their relationship grew over time. Blackbird Lake was a page turner for me. There was an element of suspense that started almost at the beginning and damned if I could figure it out. Believe me I guessed, and nearly skipped ahead because the suspense was making me so curious but I didn’t. It was almost the end before I guessed and even then I wasn’t sure. This book had all the “feels” I look for and I really enjoyed it. Jake is definitely a book boyfriend! There are a couple of secondary stories going on that I loved as well. I did not feel that because of those other stories, Jake and Carly’s were lessened. There is one more novel in this series to go and I can’t wait to read it! 5 Stars!!!

The Soldier’s E-Mail Order Bride

The Blurb:

Staff Sergeant Austin Hall has a brilliant record in the Special Forces—except for one disastrous decision that cost his best friend’s life. Now he’s heading home to Chance Creek, Montana, where he’d like to spend the rest of his days in the obscurity of his family’s ranch. Too bad Great Aunt Heloise won’t hand the ranch over unless all four of the Hall brothers marry and one of them produces an heir within the year. Austin is too broken to marry for love, so he places an online ad for a fake wife. What could possibly go wrong?

Ella needs to leave Hollywood—fast. It’s bad enough another actress stole her fiancé—on national television. Now she’s ruined her comeback by decking her ex on a morning talk show. Pursued by paparazzi, Ella needs a new life, a new name and someplace to hide. When she reads Austin’s ad for a stand-in wife, she knows she can act this part perfectly. To the rest of the residents of Chance Creek, they’ll be a happily married couple. In private, they’ll just be roommates. In a year when she’d old news and the Hall brothers secure the ranch, she and Austin will quietly divorce and she’ll go on her way.

Or will she?

Austin’s already finding it hard to remember his promise never to love again. Ella’s finding it hard to keep her hands to herself. But when they’re asked make a back-up baby, Ella realizes she may have stepped into a lifetime role.

Can this pretend marriage go the distance?

My review: Having recently left the military to return home and help run the family ranch, with his brothers, Austin Hall knows he needs a wife because of his aunt’s inheritance stipulations. So, what does Austin do? He puts and add on the internet for a temporary wife.

Ella, is a beautiful, overwhelmed Hollywood actress who has been recently humiliated by her former a**hole of a finance. Ella makes a bad choice (one I applauded her for) that causes her to go into hiding. Both Austin and Ella agree to marry for their own personal gain. Ella would convince Austin’s family that their marriage is real. In return, Austin would give Ella a safe haven from the paparazzi. Clearly this wasn’t a realistic solution if they claimed they would keep their hearts out of it.

I liked the pace of this story and all the little bits of angst the author threw in. However, I was frustrated with Austin a bit. Sadly, he had some issues that he was still dealing with from something that happened during his time in Afghanistan. Of course I understood that his feelings were justified, however I felt that it took too long for him to move forward even a little. I was so happy for him once he realized that he was worthy of Ella’s love. Ella on the other hand knew she wanted a life with Austin from almost the beginning. Ella was strong willed and loyal. I loved that although she was hurt by the stresses of Hollywood and all that being famous entailed, Ella was never influenced by its selfishness and cruelty. “The Soldier’s E-Mail Order Bride,” was a sweet and heartwarming addition to the Heroes of Chance Creek Series. Oh, and don’t let me forget to mention the chemistry they had going! That being said, I am looking forward to find out how the other Hall brothers catch their brides, especially Colt. There was a hint to that at the end of this book and I can already guess at the angst in that one. 4.5 Stars!!!

Larkspur Road (Lonesome Way #2)Larkspur Road by Jill Gregory

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4 Stars!
Some of my favorite reading enjoyment is in small town romance series.’ This series has been fun to read so far. There is romance, of course but there is also the secondary characters that are also around making the story that much more relative. Larkspur Road is a story of second chance for Travis Tanner and Mia Quinn. There is also two small subplots going on as well. The first including Mia’s niece which I think the story would have been better without. The second subplot had to do with Mia’s estranged aunt and a family secret. Personally, I enjoyed reading about that part. Mia is a school teacher on summer vacation just going through life lonely and unlucky with love. Lets say that Travis was her first experience with that bad luck. Travis is moving home after being away for years. He wants to settle in his hometown. Travis has come home with his ten year old stepson, who has some issues that need attention as well. Travis and Mia don’t come together easily. Mia justifiably doesn’t trust him not to break her heart again. I was happy for them when they got together however, I felt that Mia forgave too easily and I would have liked to see Travis grovel a bit more. Another small disappointment for me was the actual amount of book time Travis and Mia this had as a couple. There was too many other conflicts happening that, in my opinion, lessened Travis and Mia’s time together. That being said, I still loved this book and will continue with the series.
